Men Under Attack in Woke Victoria

Premier of Victoria, Jacinta Allan, has been premier for about eight months. Natalie Hutchins is the Minister for Women. Do you think there is a Minister for Men? Of course not, don’t be stupid! Only half the population need a dedicated minister, even though according to the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, males are around three times more likely to die by suicide than females, almost seven men every day. Even though the vast majority (93%) of workers killed from work‑related activities are men, over twelve times more likely to die at work than women. Even though most victims of homicide in Australia (69%) are male according to the most recent homicide report by the Australian Institute of Criminology, compared to 30% female (1% was indeterminate). Actually, it’s one of the safest times to be alive for females in Australia based on historical numbers. But No, despite the statistics, Victoria doesn’t need a Minister for Men.
Ms Vicki Ward, the Minister for Prevention of Family Violence. Can you guess who’s responsible for most of that family violence? That’s right, men! Kat Theophanous is the Parliamentary Secretary for Women’s Health. Do you think there’s one for men’s health? Nah, men don’t need to worry about their health in Victoria. They even have a Minster for Equality, Harriet Shing, you know, to make sure everyone’s being treated equally in society.
The Cabinet of Victoria consists of 22 members in total. 15 members are female, while only seven are male, outnumbered more than two-to-one. I don’t think the Minister for Equality is doing her job.
But just when you thought this can’t get any worse, the Premier decides to release a statement demonising men even further. This was released a couple of days ago, 28 May. “I am announcing several changes to Parliamentary Secretary responsibilities. Tim Richardson will become Parliamentary Secretary for Men’s Behaviour Change, continuing the Allan Labor Government’s priority to make Victoria a safer place for women and children and work to end the tragedy of deaths of Victorian women at the hands of men.”
Secretary for Men’s Behaviour Change? This makes it sound like there’s something wrong with men, something that needs fixing, whereas women need protecting from evil men. This is the most extreme form of identity politics that I have ever seen. Although they want you to think the opposite, let’s not mince words here, men are under political attack in Victoria.
But why are they doing it? Obviously the overwhelming majority of men don’t support violence against women, or violence full stop for that matter! Most of us are loving husbands, partners and fathers. But there must be some statistics backing up the Premier’s position? Well, if you look at the most recent homicide report, Incidents of intimate partner homicide by victim sex, then yes, women are over-represented, 89% to 11%. But this is only one type of very specific homicide. Noting that this is the equal third lowest number of intimate partner homicide incidents perpetrated against females ever recorded. Plus this doesn’t take away from the fact that almost 70% of all homicide victims are male.
The Allan Government’s sweeping generalisation about men as perpetrators is just blatantly wrong and unfair. It’s just an absurd piece of identity and victimhood politics.
Imagine if it was any other group. For example, in the most recent homicide report, Homicide offenders by Indigenous status, we can see Indigenous males have a homicide rate of 17.13 compared to non-Indigenous males 1.39, that’s more than 12 times the rate! If you look at Indigenous females, it’s even worse, 17.5 times the rate of non-Indigenous females. Actually, Indigenous females commit homicide at a rate almost two-and-a-half times that of non-Indigenous males. I’m not trying to target Indigenous people here, but the Victorian Government are clearly trying to target men, when most of us are perfectly law-abiding, peace-loving individuals who world never think of harming a woman, or anybody else for that matter.
Based on these statistics, they could rightfully have a Secretary for Indigenous Behaviour Change. Imagine the outcry if they did that, but in terms of whose committing the most violence, us innocent men are being scapegoated. And it’s just not fair.
And just one more statistic. This is the Australia Institute of Family Studies, Intimate partner violence in the LGBT community. They found that lesbian women were more likely than gay men to report having been in an abusive same-sex relationship (41% vs 28%). This shows you that women can certainly be violent.
In my opinion, Victoria is becoming some kind of political dystopian nightmare. The Government are creating a war between men and women for no good reason. This won’t end well. When the government pit one group of Victorians against the rest, this is just going to end in disaster. Men are bad? Or is the Allan Government bad?

@@hairyscary8511 At the end of the day, in any serious venture, you need logic. Running off emotions results in a poor work place and bad long-term decisions. I originally didn't put much credence in the "women thinking emotionally" trope, but its hard to argue with it when we have quotas for women in power, resulting in more women in power that at the same time seems to go hand-in-hand with bone-headed management and policies. Bit like the Wage Gap argument - women say they want to be paid the same as men, but don't want to do the work. The WGEA measures the gap but doesn't even consider hours worked, and anyone with half a brain understands that people should get paid the same if they do the same amount/level/value of work. The WGEA is mostly women in cushy, no-stress, high pay government positions, so they're themselves evidence that women in general fail at logic.

I would argue the contrary. We absolutely need both now, just with the approach completely reversed. Men are vulnerable, disadvantaged, discriminated against, demeaned, devalued, victimised, abused, and exploited, mainly by by women. Women enjoy disproportionate advantage across the board - health, wealth, education, housing, family life, welfare, access to justice, etc, etc. Note, of course, that I am referring mainly to white, western, boomer women who, it must be said, are the most privileged demographic in human history. I'm a white male who was briefly married to a part Indigenous female. While she was no threat to me physically due to her small stature, she certainly made up for it verbally. I was goaded, yelled at, sworn at, called names.........over things i didn't do, or did do, or said, or didn't say, regardless how trivial. Everything was an excuse for another argument. She tried to turn my family against me. Imagine an existence where your work life is less stressful than your home life. That was my marriage summed up. After seven months, and before any children came along, i just walked out. I had to, before i did anything that earned me a stretch in the clink. I copped abuse via text messages and phone calls for a while, but at least she was no longer in the same house as me. Now, i can handle myself, but you can only go so far if you want to avoid a police call. Now that I'm single, and plan on remaining that way, i just don't have the problem. I've likely added twenty years to my life expectancy.

This reminds me of my first proper relationship with a girl. We lived together after only a couple of months of knowing each other which in retrospect was foolish. The first few months was pretty good but it wasn't long before it started becoming troublesome. I should of ended it as quickly as it started but she was doing a 12 month course so I told her we'd just get her through that and part ways and keep it amicable that was approximately the 6 month mark. After so many ridiculous arguments about absolutely f all I eventually had enough and decided she had to go. She did some nasty things that I'm not even willing to post anonymously about. One of the last arguments a friend had called me up who I hadn't spoken too for a short while, and she decided it was a girl and I was cheating on her. She went apeshit and eventually we were in my car and she was punching me in the arm as hard as she could. I was so mad I turned to her and said, 'You punch me one more time I'm gonna to hit you back!' And I meant it. But she turned and punched my windscreen instead and put a huge crack in it. I told her to get out of my car and yelled at her furiously for a short while telling her it was over. She ran around grabbed a knife, pointed it at me then decided it was better to threaten herself. Thankfully the situation never escalated beyond that. And about a week later I got rid of her crazy ass. Now I got a couple of kids and a more sane partner. Good luck man.

​@@azcarter4389 Yeah that sounds awful. My advice to any young men out there; examine the whole deal. Sex is only a small part of it. The rest is drama, stress and expense. If they must marry, then make the engagement period long(at least three months minimum). This gives you a chance to study her and determine suitability. Do they argue fairly? Do they get historical over seemingly nothing? Do your friends and family like her, or are giving you warnings about her? Does she handle everyday problems like an adult? If the answer to these questions are the wrong answers, then you can call off the engagement before making things official and more complicated. We should also be wary of women who want an engagement that's shorter than your average annual holiday break. It shows impatience and dominance. Hope you're present situation remains blissful! I was in primary school back in the early 90's and I remember some of the discussion at the time being how "girls were being left behind at school" because boys marks were better (with the fpcus on maths, physics, chemistry, etc.). Fast forward a few years later after the softer subjects had received some grading/weighting boosts, and girls are now suddenly outperforming boys. Are "boys being left behind at school" now? No, no they're not. "Girls are outperforming boys"... If and when the wage gap gets twisted enough and businesses kowtow to public pressure enough that women end up getting paid more than men on average, do you think the Wage Gap measure will be construed as discrimination against men? It’s something you will never hear. Male violence against women often centres around custody issues and the exclusion of fathers from their kids. Family Courts deal very unfairly with men and even when given shared parenting do nothing to penalise mothers who ignore their obligations. Some very dark , primitive forces can be unleashed in men by a feeling they have nothing left to lose. Society harnesses male protectiveness towards their families , uses their innate aggression to be soldiers , police etc But it needs to be remembered that men are not fully tamed and must be treated carefully.

At 44 i made the mistake of contacting the Vic Police about a step-sister who abused my Mother. I had 2 restraint IVO's taken out by VicPol against me stopping me from seeing my Mum, in that time the Woman and her cohorts gained Power of Attorney of my Mum while she had Dementia. I was then summoned to court and Charged with my first Crime, to which the Female Judge told me she HAD to Convict me and was not even in consideration of any other sentence. Victorias legal system is screwed up. I just dont go near my Mum anymore and shes unresponsive to the women who drug her beyond her wits.
