This is such an important topic... Thank you so much, Dr. Cole. Your voice is so calm and soothing. Some years ago, I was told by my male gynecologist that I should have a hysterectomy to relieve painful, heavy periods. He went on to tell me that women don't need a uterus unless they are planning to become pregnant. Needless to say, I kept my uterus and got rid of him. The dismissive approach from medical doctors is scary.. We have to educate them, be our own advocates, and find doctors who take us seriously.

👏👏👏 Good for you for getting rid of him! Yes to educating, being our own advocates, and finding doctors who will partner with us through these things. ❤️

I appreciate what you’re saying, but Doctors are still saying too much estrogen can increase risk of cancer, not just Brest cancer. In fact there are female cancers that are “estrogen fed” particularly in Younger women. My mother had uterine cancer . I just won’t take that risk. I’m 51 and Definitively going through peri menopause. Overall I’m fine, but now that you speak of anxiety…my anxiety is through the roof! I constantly have a feeling sort of like butterflies in my stomach. Didn’t realize it could be from that.

@@michelled.3849 My mother also had uterine cancer, they said she had too much Estrogen , that of a 18 year old. She went through Menopause at a early age, 46 to be exact. My Gynecologist told me the longer we have periods the better, it' is , one way of getting rid of the Estrogen. ok. so after watching this today, I'm totally confused.

I usually include the disclaimer that I am not a medical professional and highly recommend that others do their own research and speak to their doctor to find out what's best for them, because it is nuanced. 💕Dr. Mary Claire Haver is one of my favorite medical professionals to reference for anything regarding perimenopause and menopause and I interviewed her here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pquTaq2cZtaleq8

I used to be really cautious until I did some research on HRT because I was near a breakdown emotionally. What I learned is that there are different types of HRT and your Gyn should test you to find out if you are in an at risk category. I can say for me it was the right choice but I also put a lot of thought into it. I'm so thankful there are safer options than years ago.

I am wondering if there are symptoms in men that mirror women (rapid heartbeat, libido) ?
@terri_coleАй бұрын
If you're asking about what symptoms men may show as they get older, I'm not sure as my focus is more on menopause. If anyone has mens resources to recommend they're welcome to!

@@terri_cole Thank you. I can laugh at the frozen shoulder symptom now, which my husband was so offended by. It takes the barbs away from the insult, as I'm sure he felt injured or insulted. I'm just thinking it could be both and can attribute to the divorce rate as well.
