Thank you for this video. My cup came last week and I got my period 3 days ago. I have not had any leaks and no problems @ all. I’ve been watching a ton of videos for the past 3 months to get a head start. I do the push down fold and couldn’t get it to pop open so I stood up and twirled my hips like I was using a hula hoop and felt it open up. Very pleased.

if it wiggles up higher...you can push it down again with your muscles....just fully relax and then tense down (if that makes sense!) ..its always ok even if it feels like its never going to come out again! 😂

Two extra tips: get your hands down there and find your cervix (try it on the shower) and do kegel exercises to push the cup. Great tips i also own a pink ruby cup :) love your vids so much.

Also THANKYOU for these tips, I'm gonna' need them! (I couldn't get the Luna cup to pop open inside, after so much relaxing and walking around, and so I didn't bother with the little travel fold down one, since I didn't think it would be strong enough to pop out. Maybe I need an industrial one that pops out easier?)

For the ladies who are planning on using the cup ooor those who don't like the comfort of the Diva Cup 👍🏼 I recommend the Sckoon cup or the Lunette Cup! They are sooo soft & pretty! (Not to mention, cheaper) Good Luck! :)

I use the Me Luna cup and it's amazing! They have several different sizes, firmer/softer, stem lengths. They use TPE (thermoplastic elastomer) instead of silicon since it's smoother and causes less allergic reaction. It also becomes more flexible with warmth, so after it seals you hardly notice it!

The cup is meant to fit over your cervix. With clean fingers its good to find your cervix first, then when you have the cup in there you know what it will feel like if the cup is not over your cervix. When its over the cervix it wont leak.

Thanks for this video. I have the Ruby cup, 2 of them. Plus a Yuuki cup which I bought first but found out it was too lagre and firm which made taking it out a nightmare! I've had issues with my other two cups. They do poke me and I've tried wearing them for a while but maybe not long enough to see if they'll rise, and I dont want to cut the stem yet but the poking hurts and idk what to do honestly. So now I just continue to wear soft cups which are what I started out with and its soo much easier to take out cause you just hook your finger under it. I'll try with the other cups using these tips.

Not sure if anyone can help me or not. When I used pads, I never got cramps. Once I started using a cup, about a year and a half ago, I started to get really bad cramps the first day or two of my period. It feels like someone is squeezing my uterus, and if I don't take any pain meds, I start shaking from the pain and I want to cry. Out of all the menstrual cup videos I have watched, I have never heard of this happening. I would really appreciate any and all help.

@FemmeHead
@FemmeHead 8 жыл бұрын
Hmm, maybe you just have a lower set cervix and need to trim your stem? And taking it out should hurt. I'm not sure what would be causing that. I prefer more flexible cups because I feel they go in and come out easier. But I haven't tried the diva cup so I don't know if it's very rigid.
@megsmeltzer6488
@megsmeltzer6488 8 жыл бұрын
I have the diva cup also - I think it might be a little more rigid than some of the others. How long have you been using it? In my first few months of using it, I also had some pain taking it out, but eventually it stopped hurting.

You said the cup has a tendency to wiggle its way up, but you still use it. My cervix is pretty high that I cannot even reach it with my forefinger all the way in. I'm thinking of getting this exact cup, would that be a bad idea? Could it possibly drift so far up there that I cannot reach it?

Hey love, I just thought I'd throw this question your way to see if you have any advice/info on the topic - I am coming up to my 3 years with the implanon which means I will have to either have it removed or have another inserted, and I'm leaning towards leaving it out for a variety of menstrual and other health reasons (hence why I'm watching your vid on menstrual cup tips to get prepared). So I guess my question is do you know anything about the effects on your period after having one? I'm wondering if jumping straight into life with a cup will be too messy/involved for me since I'm so out of practice, if you will, with period business 😂 Any wisdom or info would be greatly appreciated. Love your videos! Amy x

There's a learning curve to using a cup (just like with tampons), but it only takes a few cycles to get the hang of it. I haven't heard anything about periods post-implanon. But I would assume it differs person to person, and I would guess that your period will most likely return to where it was before the implanon.

I do have a question. I have exactly the same Ruby Cup for over half a year now and I don't wanna miss out on it. I do all the same tricks as you just described. Do you have any advice on how to get rid of the minor blood stains which make the cup slightly brownish? I'm always rinsing it with cold water first which makes a huge difference. But neither boiling the cup in water with vinegar or letting it sit in the sun to get bleached by UV light helped. Thanks in advance and have a nice day!

I have the Diva cup and it got stains on it too. I put about an inch of hydrogen peroxide in a cup and filled the rest of the cup with water and left my cup in there for about 5ish hours. It is like brand new! I know they don't recommend hydrogen peroxide for the cups but I did it a while ago and no harm to my cup was done.

I only have one and I don't take it out to pee. You only need to take it out to empty and clean it. You'll learn how frequently you need to empty it as you get comfortable using it. This video is perfect timing! I'm looking into buying a cup so I can use it during my next period. I'm just a little unsure of which is a good one for most people, cause I really don't want to spend $40-60 and then have to go buy another one from a different brand. Hey would anyone think I should be wearing a menstrual cup? I'm 13 years old and tampons and pads are a complete disaster. Pads make me itch and feel like a diaper to me. Bill Denbrough if the tampon hurts it means it's either to "big" for your flow or you didn't leave it in long enough for the blood to absorb. But honestly the cup works better for me (I always feel my tampons and never my cup) . Talk to your mom about it and I'm sure she'll understand :) good luck!

I highly recommend wearing a cup! You’re so fortunate to be young and know about them as an option now! I discovered them at age 46, so I’ll have less than 10 years to use them before menopause. They are life changing, more comfortable, safer, and more economical. I started with the Blossom Cup, a very soft cup that worked for me the very first time. I also bought a Lena which I’ll have the chance to try next week. I hope you try them! Feel free to message me with cup questions. I’ve done a lot of research and I can help.

today is the first day after 3 cycles that I'm able to insert my cup (I first had the mooncup, no good + I'm newbie, then I recently got the lena sensitive!) it opened too after a bit but left me feeling kinda eugh I believe because the stem was sticking out slightly. but after I got it out after an hour test, I haven't been able to insert with it opening (inseting is easy now tho). when it's mostly in up to the base I can't push it in further and I had that issue during my success too. I know my cervix is high I checked throughout my last period every day. Hopefully someone can help. I'm gonna try again after I shower tomorrow because the warmth seemed to help but I'm frustrated! I hate wearing pads!

gen the creep yes OH i wish i came back to update! i’ve been using the lena sensitive ever since i wrote this 2 years ago and for me, it took about 6 months to get used to the tricks, and about a year to be fully and completely comfortable without any anxiety about leaking. i have a heavy flow and use the larger cup. i think it took long for me because being anxious while emptying the cup at work made it difficult to insert comfortably. my only leaks are overnight on my second to third day and that’s simply because of my heavy flow and the way my body relaxes and affects the cup. so i wear a pantyliner overnight and leaking is literally like so minimal. but i’m truly so SO happy to have gotten used to it. this thing is an absolute blessing!!!

How do you take out your menstrual cup without the painful suction? I've only done it once, and taking out was painful because I don't know how to do it right.
@christopheraniston7177
@christopheraniston7177 7 жыл бұрын
Katie Hunt I hope this isn't too late but make sure you break the suction before you take it out completely. You can do this by squeezing the cup before you start to pull it out. You will feel and hear the seal being let out (kind of like a ballon deflating). Otherwise the suction will just yank on everything inside your vaginal walls which is NO fun. Lots of videos on preciousstarpads if you need further help!

No, it's medical grade silicone. There is a rubber cup on the market called the Keeper, but most are made of silicone. Some are made of TPE (the MeLunas and Silky Cup). All are fine for extended use, but most people who have allergies to latex can use all but one popular cup :)
