MB must've built the 2011 W212 Bluetecs like tanks. I've yet to meet anyone having problems with theirs. I put 135k on mine. Not one single problem.

Hi mate thanks for sharing this video my car sounds like yours just wondering what should I do .

This is just a recording of the engine operating normally on cold-start... it sounds loud because the microphone is under the hood. There's nothing wrong with the car! :-)

In some ways, you're right! My first Mercedes was a 1982 240D!

Reading about your past issues with this I think someone may have sold you a dud.. 140k with 8k mile oil changes and it runs beautifully, low on maintenance costs, and have only had to change a TPMS sensor and an auxiliary coolant pump, which kinda started to grind and sound like a pigeon was under my hood but hey, £40 for the pump and a quick job getting it changed, not too bad for this thing. The only thing I'm worried about is these 651 engines eat timing chains around 100k so yeah...

Sold to me by Mercedes, so... they made a dud and sold it. I don't hate the car, I miss it actually, but... modern Mercedes are NOT like vintage Mercedes. No question about it.

How are things with the car so far ? Thank you for posting the engine sound , very few people ever do.

I loved the car, I loved the power and torque, I loved the economy... but this car did NOT love me back. There were a LOT of warranty claims for big ticket items, and many many things failing that should not fail under 30K miles. As you can see from the past-tense, I have sold it. I now only have my two vintage W124 Mercedes (300E sedan, and E320 Coupe) and a Toyota 4Runner as a daily driver.

Bi turbo ? That's a 4L engine. I believe it's the simple 1 turbo diesel. Still a great engine !
@jdd39936 жыл бұрын
Nope, these have the bi-turbo integrated into the manifold. This is a US model, if that matters; I know there were some that were not 2-turbo in some models outside of the US/Canada. "Although all engines have the same 2,143 cc swept volume, engines with various power outputs are produced ranging from 109 ps (badged x180) 136ps (badged x200) 170 ps (badged x220) to 204 ps (badged x250). The 170 ps and 204 ps versions employ a bi-turbo charging setup with a small, high pressure turbo providing quick boost at low RPM and a large, lower pressure turbo providing increased performance at higher RPM. The 100kW lower output version has only a single turbocharger. The x180 is a 1.5 DCI made by Mercedes partner Renault."

JD D Thank you for that info. I was far from thinking that such a design existed. That's why they're so powerful and torky.

Nice vid, but curious, why is the trans changing gear very slowly?
@jdd39937 жыл бұрын
I think what you're noticing is that I am doing fairly low speeds (no more than 35mph in this video) and the car was in ECO mode, which softens everything including the throttle, and transmission shifts... very typical Mercedes. In Sport mode everything is much more "snappy" as far as shifts go.
@jetstream4547 жыл бұрын
JD D I had only started the video basically. It was sluggishly shifting when it was stone cold, but as it warmed up it got pretty much perfect. Great cars IMO 😊

can I ask what year she was? I am looking at a 2016 model. After some research I had concluded that the diesels were reliable, but from the comments it seems you had some problems with it :/. Currently daily-ing a 2011 C300 M272 that has been extremely reliable. I 'm on the fence about switching

Mechanically, it was a beautiful car. I loved it. But, it wasn't fitting into my early-retirement plan with it's repair costs. And, for the record, I have owned 9 Mercedes in my lifetime, so I know they are costly. It ate engine mounts like crazy, three sets in 35K miles. It had it's second set of tires at 24K, run-flats. The aux battery lasts about a year or so, $500/ea. The AC blower motor went out at 18K miles. The MB-Tex isn't like the old cars, it cracked on a seam by 30K. The alloy wheels are made of recycled soup cans I think... I had to replace three of the four original wheels in 35K, and I am super careful about my driving. And, mind things like the Intelligent Lighting. I highly recommend it, but be aware of costs. I had one crack from debris on the highway. The broken lens allowed water into the unit, and the motors were contaminated. The total repair bill for just a new headlight and programming exceeded $5500, the part being $4800+ of that.

@@jdd3993Man that sucks to hear. I read so many positive reviews about the bluetec that this is really unbelievable.. Perhaps your particular car turned out to be a lemon? was it an earlier model? have you contacted mb corporate about it?
@jdd39934 жыл бұрын
@@j.p.8595 They knew, it was all under warranty. I have owned many of them, most reliable of mine has been the W124's. I have two currently. I had daily driven a W124 for many many many many miles without issue, break down, warranty claim, etc... but the newer car was just not that well made. Now, to answer your other questions... my car was bought CPO, it was an executive car owned by MB Corporate, it was specially ordered, and yes it was an early build of the facelift E.

terminology aside, that description is taken directly from the owner's manual.
