Thanks. Great help, I have a SLC, shape of mirrors is different but the principle is the same and it is a good idea to pop out the mirror first, as someone noticed, but carefully, there may be wires leading to it (defrost)

Thanks for this, very helpful. I found using a flat head screwdriver to help gently lever the closed side of the cover released the clip inside easier and might be less risk to damaging the clip inside. Once that was free the cover came off easily.

Very useful video, changed mirror covers yesterday using this technique without any bigger issues. One notable risk though is that whilst pulling up the mirror you need to make sure you're pulling STRAIGHT up, otherwise the cover might scratch on the right side of the mirror glass. Thank you!

Sorry for the late reply. They are OEM mirrors that were "hydro dipped" or water transferred to get the carbon fiber print. My friend did it for me but if you look online their are a couple of places that could do it. Or you could get it wrapped. If you have any more questions feel free to contact me. -Matt

thanks for this video. I just replaced my LED light on passenger side 2010 E350. I was able to remove the cover without all the force described by using a pry tool carefully going round the separation gap until it came off. might be worth trying that method to remove the cover...

Matt, good tutorial. Folks, it is really that simple. I did it on my e class and was not sure on the first one so took a little while because I didn't want to break anything with too much force but the second one was complete in 5 minutes!

Hi Matt, I am about to buy a carbon fiber side mirror cover online. The cover doesn't come with the arrow led parts, so I assume I need to remove the arrow led part from the original side mirror cover and reuse it. My question is, can the led part be removed? Thanks for the instructions...I only had a struggle talking the housing off the replacement mirror... it was easier after taking the glass mirror off first and then taking off the housing

the method described , specifically where it tells you to align the mirror with the black part of the shroud housing is WRONG. If you do this you will probably break the mirror when removing the shroud. The correct method is to bevel the mirror completely downwards as far as it will go but keeping it straight with the mirror shroud housing. Then follow what is described in the rest of the video and the shroud should lift straight off over the top of the mirror without fouling the mirror and potentially breaking it. It worked for me and is a 5 min job. The local Merc (UK) dealer wanted £190 to do the work which essentially was just replacing the LED repeater unit inside the shroud. The LED repeater unit is held inside the shroud with 2 small Torx type screws and two clips and replacement is very easy once the shroud is removed. Euro car parts do replacement parts much cheaper than Merc main agent ( surprise ;) )

Replaced 2011 C300 (W204) passenger side mirror follow Matt's instruction without any problem. It looks only 10 minutes to replace mirror. Got OE Mercedes's mirror from eEuroParts for $110.09 much less then dealer $140.00 with no tax and free shipping too.

It seems a very common prob with water getting into the unit and causing condensation. Here in the UK it is a MOT failure and my local Merc dealer only offer the mirror complete with the mirror shroud housing and the LED insert @ £144 for the part only and £190 fitted for the complete shroud and LED insert. I found company in China selling the LED insert only on eBay for £18.99 ( wwfangestore), but I ended sourcing from UK based company who give a 3 year warranty for £39.99 again on eBay ( energizedcustoms2 ) . Hope that helps

It is important to know that if your car is a S550 2010 there is a hidden screw behind the mirror. This screw needs to be removed before pulling the cover. To remove the screw you need to remove the mirror first and then you will see the screw in the back holding the whole cover. Beware.

I have added a link to my build thread with the black mirrors. I haven't put the carbon fiber ones since I only have 1 right now while my friend has the other. But if you end up changing your mirrors, go with what ever your car has. If you have carbon fiber parts, go carbon and if this is your first or only mod. I say go for the black ones, little bit more elegant in my opinion. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. -Matt

Please note, this is not the same mirror housing as the CLA250. I replaced my CLA250 mirror housings a month ago, M Benz mechanic showed me how :) . Don't use this method in this video or you will definitely break your mirror. The first step is to push in the bottom of the mirror itself so that it faces in a downward slant. This would give you visibility inside the housing from the top part, and you will be able to see the rotating mechanism inside the housing. From there insert your fingers inside this opening and slowly and carefully pry off the mirror glass off this mechanism. Once the mirror glass is off the rest is a breeze. Insert a small screwdriver to detach the clip from the housing, and detach top part of housing from the lower housing base and lift in an upward direction and it will come off. Please note if you are replacing your mirror housings you will also have to remove the turn signal devices from the old housing and install in the new. Only about 4 star bit screws inside housing along with removing factory silicon glue. I didn't take a video of my install, only about 15 or so camera shots of each step I took along the way. The first mirror housing took about 20 minutes to replace, the other took about 5 minutes. If you need detailed instructions let me know, its very easy.

Hi Matt, Thanks for the informative video I recently took my car to the dealership due to the passenger-side mirror LED not lighting up. After some diagnosis , they said they needed to replace the whole mirror housing. I'm just wondering if the OEM mirror housing includes the mirror cover or not? I'm asking this because they scuffed up my paint on the mirror cover pretty badly. I didn't say anything to them at the time because I thought they will replace the mirror cover as well, but I've heard from different people that the mirror cover is not included Thanks in advance for your response

Good video. But before you will use all your force please push max inside the bottom of mirror glass to avoid damage when you take off cover up. Yesterday I found that my W212 2013 left wing mirror turn LED light very dimly and it go our evening that day. But there wasn’t any warn or mistake on board. Our local MB dealer also said that this part supply together mirror cover and it cost $185 for part and $55 for service. Crazy. Aliexpress offer this LED unit separate at $12 around including delivery. But some people don’t like not OEM details or afraid that not OEM unit will have different colour shade. But when I remove cover I found OEM number of this LED unit separate and it means that possible to buy it also separate from mirror cover. OEM is A2129067201 for left side mirror. Local traders sell it at $75 around. Happy medium who wanna have OEM MB detail but don’t want pay a lot for unnecessary mirror cover.

tazmania leave the covers on. It will make contouring the film much easier.use a heat gun too to allow the material to be malleable enough to make the curves. And most importantly, post heat the film after it was applied with a heat gun. If you skip this step the vinyl will peel back under direct sunlight after a short amount of tine

No, its not the same mirror housing as the CLA250. I replaced my CLA250 mirror housings a month ago, but don't use this method in this video or you will definitely break your mirror. I didn't take a video of my install, only camera shots. If you need detailed instructions let me know, its very easy

Sorry I didn't see this but yes you can. But it's not just the shell, you must change the whole assembly as these mirrors are actually shorter in height.

Sorry I never replied, but the carbon mirrors were hydro dipped by a friend but you could also have some wrapped. The black mirrors were purchased straight from Mercedes and the grill is also an OEM grill but it's meant for a C250/350 COUPE with Sports+ package. and your english is actually a lot better then most people's.
