Mercedes Benz ML350 Oil Leak Repair - Mercedes Oil change

Considering oil cooler viton seals fail on EVERY om642 valley I have ever seen or heard about & work involved to access those seals, wondering if a fabricated copper crush sleeve of same thickness & pliability like is used on drain plug in pan could not be substituted on this for longer service life. It's almost as if MB engineered that part as a fuseable link to trigger other seemingly unrelated cascading failures as oil seeps into other components that live in same vicinity (intake swirl flap motors come to mind) that most drivers would just say 'time to trade this in' when confronted with the enormity of repair bill. Planned obsolescence so to speak.

Just had my oil cooler seals replaced, still losing oil, MB said the oil filter housing was sweating, when they did the Field measure, guess this can be the the next place to check

? So what is the housing isn't the if the oil cooler needs to be replaced is the oil cooler housing also part of that repair or is that separate

Looks like the old seals have already been replaced before because the factory seals were orange and the new replacement seals are purple as you can see on the new oil cooler

Needs more volume and was that a desiel version

So its not possible to change only the rubber o-rings under the cooler , you need to change the hole unit ?

Crank according to WIS (workshop Information Systems) the cooler can and may deform a bit and might cause leaks if not replaced, not a job that I would like to do twice to find out that it leaks after but yes the seals are sold separately.

Is this really was an oil cooler leak? Too bad that you didn't do video after removing the manifolds. Sometimes this can be deceiving, oil from turbo inlet drops down into the valley, leading to oil cooler issue conclussion.

if u think benz are bad.. u never seen BMW.. i have both in diesel and the same year... both Germans are unreliable
