I traded my hc charger for the exact model 18 f90 you tested. The HC won’t stand a chance on these tests. It would be spinning tires all over. Love my f90. Only thing the HC has over the bmw is that American v8 sound and it’s got a more compliant ride.

Something a true BMW fan boy would say. You probably can't afford either so you would never know that these two cars are more comparable, price wise and performance wise. The f90 m5 came out almost two years after the w213 e63s came out and the f90 m5 was a direct competitor to the e63s. The f90 m5 cp came out almost 6 months after the regular m5 came out, which is more of a competitor of the AMG GT63s, price wise and performance wise. There is no standard e63 anymore, so the name e63s 4 matic is the name of all w213 AMG's. So in other words, NO the f90 m5 cp isn't a better comparison. Price for price and performance for performance these two cars were made to compete with one another.

M5 driver is starting wayyy too low in the rpms. Dude is starting in 3rd gear from these low mile per hour rolls. Mercedes was driving properly and was in the right gear. If both of these cars are driven properly it’s a neck and neck race with the base M5 and E63s. M5 Competiton is def faster than the E63s though

For handling it is actually far off between M5 and M5 Comp. Comp is made to handle better and has higher boost on turbos which gives it more power.

Clicked on this video so fast.. my 2 favorite high performance sedans. Hey Dan..the AMG wagons always commanded a premium over the sedans. If you don't mind having the older model, the 2014-16 E63S wagon is still a beast. A couple of companies recently developed a E85 tune, TCU tune, & new intake (all developed last year) for the M157. With those combo of mods, guys are running mid to high 10's @ 132+mph in the 1/4 mile. 60-130mph in the high 6's. Its a true sleeper wagon

Unless you have an M performance exhaust which is a titanium exhaust, which is way better sounding and way louder, take note stock m5 exhaust is louder with better pops and bangs..but exhaust note isn't. There's the M sport exhaust after which is better. Then the M performance exhaust

Great video. Should’ve tried a 2020 and up M5 updated tunes suspension. Many videos state that the m5 is also faster in a straight line. One thing I didn’t agree with was stating that the E63 is a more premium car. They are direct competitors and I don’t see the more premium side of the Mercedes. The M5 can reach the 140k plus also if ordered with m performance parts from factory at BMW

At least you should compare apples to apples if you are going to use the older version. The Mercedes 63S is comparable to the Comp, not regular M5. And then you use "the owner's" 60-130 time - which was run at night - and I presume when it was colder. An important thing about being an (unbiased) reviewer is to be consistant, which this review definitely isn't. I understand you have limitations when it comes to getting your hands on cars, but it would be better to wait for a matched up car and fair comparison instead of comparing apples to oranges and calling it a "head to head."

You know, I’ve always liked the BMW V8s, but I’ve felt like they’ve lost their soul over the years sadly. Mercedes hasn’t lost that. “Big Mac vs a whopper” said from a muscular Asian who owns a shit ton of cars and guns 😂 I like the way the M5 looks but it’s too damn tall for me, also too heavy. I find it super cool how you can switch it from AWD to RWD. Pretty insane. BMW V8s have always had my favorite sound, however, this one really doesn’t. The M6 is by far one of the coolest sounding V8 from BMW, and the NA 4.8L V8 in the older 550i is heavenly. I don’t like the way the E63s looks. It’s clearly outdated. I’d prefer this package in the E coupe, but they never dropped a V8 into that chassis sadly. However, I’m a big fan of the interior and the screens. The lights are far better inside too Ah yes the wagon definitely. Absolutely love those. Talked to a guy when I worked at Mercedes a few times, was a 777 captain. He had a wagon but the engine blew with the car being stock, so he had a completely new wagon made that was a duplicate of his old one. My money would usually be on the M5 but I dunno about this one. Wow the E63 really held its own. Could be boost or even just weight. It’s crazy how close these races are but the E63 has some really nice gearing from videos I’ve seen. Even from a dig these are neck and neck I think the Mercedes just missed a gear so he’s out of the race Oh, pulling timing? Make sense. That’s weird for the Mercedes. At least bmw had consistency here I’m surprised you’re putting these two through this course. This is insane Yeah I’m not a fan of oversteer. Slows me down. Also hitting oversteer at 140 on the highway will really push you away from it I’m surprised the E63 is handling this well despite how well built the interiors of these are. They’re so heavy in the interiors I’m honestly disappointed that the E63 overheated. It just shows how performance focused BMWs cars are while the E63 tries to be a middleman of luxury and sport. Dude the M5 almost beat Jason’s viper lol THE E63 BEAT THE VIPER 😂 but I think the viper has way more potential Well that’s a sight for sore eyes. There are 3 levels of m5. You have m5, then there is m5 competition and there is m5 competition cs. The e63s should be in the same class as the m5 com no exceptions! It’s like comparing a tune amg to a regular m5 and with that being said the m5 is neck and neck with the e63s that’s remarkable.
