Mercedes Engine SWAP From Start To "Finish" In 10 Mins (Budget 2JZ Build) M104 Inline6 3.2

I actually succeeded in "successfully" SWAPPING a much bigger engine in my W203 Mercedes!
no replacement for displacement 🤣
Looking back over the past 10 months I'm excited about what the future holds!

"no replacement for displacement", is this true? this motor is a copy of M111 also. I undestand you got very cheap motor, like 400-500euros. simple motors is always better. but m271, is going very fast with 160-170hp. i tested many times. but m271 is not reliable for long.

The M111 is more likely based on the M104 as I believe the M104 came a few years prior to the M111, the engines are similar by design the engine block and cylinder head are similar. However that's where the similarities end the M111 has longer rods and piston design varied across versions and compression ratios, the M104 has shorter rods and relatively the same pistons across the range although again varied bore size and I believe the earlier 3.0 pistons are the strongest but could be wrong. Later Vvt versions of both engines shared some ancillaries and the same rear main seal can be found on both engines. Both engines are strong but the extra 2 cyls of the M104 gives it that bit more over the M111, however both engines pistons do not cope well with even the smallest amount of detonation. Bit over all both are pretty good for tuning the earlier pre Evo M111 has the strongest internals but the Evo has a better flowing head and valves. Hope that helps 🙂👍

For me , bigger displacement = more torque.. So yes the M271 is powerful for what it is. A good economic engine with some decent power when needed. With the M104 I feel I don’t need to drive it hard to enjoy it, but it too in it’s naturally aspirated form is a bunch of fun when you give it some😁🤣a big helping factor is the sounds that come from ANY inline 6 engine. Pretty cheap for the potential these have👌
