Great video! A definite in-depth view of the different engines. I used to own a 77 240D. Then I still have my 92 300 2.5. turbo. Unfortunately I was driving and it started pouring white smoke and a very bad knock?. I'll be trying to figure my DIY repairs this spring. I'm very happy to hear that you build injection pumps. Hopefully I'll be able to get one?

Hi Shane, Nice video. One correction on the 603 that is not a trap oxidizer that is a replacement pipe that Mercedes came up with to replace the trap oxidizer. The TO was moved to below the car. In fact, for a time (may still be available), if you still had a car with TO, Mercedes will replace the turbo, exhaust system and the TO with this pipe configuration for free. I had mine done in 2010.

Awesome. Which MB 5 cylinder engine would you recommend as a good swap candidate for a mid 90's Ford F-150 pickup? The factory 5.8L V8 needs work, but it's such a gas hog, I'd rather spend the money on a better engine - hence a MB diesel powerplant. Not looking for a HD powerhouse either, I'm ok with the smaller 5cyl vs a 6. Thanks!!

Great subject. Can you tell your opinion about puting together an OM616 (240D) with a small turbo and PES 4M pump from OM601? Do you offer external ADA for PES 4M pump? And I am not afraid of blowing up the engine, they are plentifull and I would not go big with pressure and fuel... OM616 loves to rev but I can not keep up with the traffic.

Which one is the best in terms of power and reliability? Would it be the om606? Or something newer? Although the newer ones may not be available in the U.S
@h-j.k.89713 ай бұрын
One thing you may have missed, the 617 was about 50 Kilograms heavyer than the 603 and a lot thirstyer.

Hey Shane. Im interested in swapping out the old om617 engine in my w123 wagon for a newer om606. Do you have any pointers on these type of swaps?

Hi friend, i though that standard turbos had 6 mm IP element, but has 5.5 as the natural aspirated engine IP or am i wrong?
@shanecall10 ай бұрын
Only the om605/6 turbo engines with EDC pumps got 6mm elements. All others are 5.5

The best 603 is the naturally aspirated one i have here in Australia yes little slower but bullet proof and simple.

I dont see how. Im seeing guys with turbo 603 with 1000000km in forums everywhere. So evidently ur comment is baseless.

Thanks for your very informative clip. Are the 0M606s easy to source in the US as it is almost impossible to find them in AUS?

They are rare here too. I sell complete engines though. info@benzinjection.com

7:04 if you block the oil feed from the engine block side how is the M pump feed with oil to the hole in the front of the pump ? Also this ALA thing you talk about what does that stand for/mean? 5:35
@Val-xi4weАй бұрын
if you pause this video at 7:25 you will see that the shaft is hollow. That is where the oil is pushed into the pump, it does this for the MW pump also. At the same timestamp you'll see a plate on the pump face that looks like pacman. The oil just drains back out through pacmans mouth, and falls back to the oil pan.

Hi! New subscriber, I have the Ssangyong 2.9 liter td 602 clone in my 2006 Musso. I have an M series Bosch injector pump running 5.5s, and am wondering if skipping the 6mm and installing 7mm elements would be of any benefit. Do the 7s not fit, or are the 6s just better for the application?
@BenzInjection7 ай бұрын
It depends on your power goal. 6 mm are good for 90-100 CC. They an make more, but its too long of an injection duration, not good. 7 to 8 mm is recommended for wanting more than 90 CC.

Which one of these mercedes diesel engines is the best ?
@drPeidosАй бұрын
The om605 turbo or the om606 turbo. The Normal Aspirated versions of the 605/606 are also desirable, but pistons and other stuff might be less strong than the turbo versions.
