Mercedes Rear SAM

I have a 2021 GLS450 I installed heated/cooled cup holder instead standard cupholder. Connected wires to positive, negative and rear SAM( plug just with 3 wires)no more addition wires. Cup holder doesn’t work(I have 2 brand new cup holders, problem not in cup holders)brought to dealer and they said no any function in there scanner/computer to activate cup holder. Any suggestions ?

Sounds like a bad harness. Did you hook up a scanner to see if it's front or rear?

thanks for the video, i have the same problem with my trunk on my GL450 that the rear end door handle doesn´t open properly, i changed the latch hardware and the problem remains, it could be a bad SAM?

I have same identical vehicle. 2008 ML350.... will that scanner diagnose if a one of the SAM modules is completely out? Fuses relays. My tail lights stay on, alarm on and with gas gauge malfunctioning sitting at zero.

@@iRepairAutos I have a scanner that shows a rear Sam error. One symptom is the right tail light does not come on. The windshield wiper sprayer also does not work. May or may not be the result of the bad Sam.

Hello Keith i am a big fan of your work and i own a Mercedes GL450 2008 model . My Doors central locks open when am driving and the trunk tailgate only opens automatically but doesn't close automatically. could it be a faulty Rear SAM

The doors unlocking sounds like some funky SAM behavior. The trunk not closing may be related but might also be the hydraulic mechanism acting up. I would definitely start by looking for DTC errors in the SAM modules.

Greetings iRepair autos, my 2008 ML350 L/F door lock and power window not working at all. Have already replaced door lock actuator and window master switch. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Check the power to the switch and lock. The icarsoft scanner does this. Also check the fuse and relay for the door.

Good Morning Keith, What's the best scan tool for clearing codes on a Mercedes? I have a 2006 ML500 and it is always putting out malfunction codes.

The best one is three Star Diagnostics but it's also the most expensive and the most complicated to use. To clear OBD related codes any old scanner will work. To clear Mercedes specific DTC codes including ABS, Airbag codes etc. I use the carsoft scanner.

Clearing codes is only a fix for random secondary faults. Recurent DTC's need to be addressed to regain sanity. Every fault needs studying 😅
