This shows how intricate (and hard to repair) modern cars have become. My son's 2008 Passat is in a similar state with a leaky tandem pump. Worth $5k, maybe and $3k to fix. My third attempt with new bolts and a new gasket, other wise......It is a lovely car, paint in top condition, upholstery excellent. Be a shame to dispose of it.

met a mechanic from MB who said ever since the vans came out, it was a nightmare for MB as people were buying entry level product and first time in the shop they get price shock and end up turning them back in. Lots of reflashes on the late model diesels also. On Transmission reinstall, use a long starter bolt with head cut off, so you get the bolt to screw in a top bolt hole and you can set the trans on the bolt and slide it into place, Making sure as you did with cleaning surfaces is important as many times the ground cable connects on the transmission, so you want no corrosion throughout the engine compartment. especially on aluminum to steel points
@M1LKMAN2Ай бұрын
So, replacing a clutch in a B-class is an engine-out job? Wow… 😮
@hughmarcus1Ай бұрын
It’s either an engine out or transmission out on any car. Often with modern cars the engine & transmission are built together on the assembly line in a sub frame. The body shell passes overhead & the assembly is offered up to the body & bolted in from underneath. That actually means the easiest way to replace a clutch etc is to remove the subframe from the vehicle & work at it away from the body.
@Dione1989Ай бұрын
It’s doable with out taking engine out but you need 2-3 transmission jacks

Well driving a Renault, Valeo is true OEM for their products but recently replaced the alternator and they could not find an OEM Valeo unit so it was replaced with Hella. I know this company made quality parts in the past and I hope it still applies. B class and it’s so complicated! How many of these parts were made in Turkey? Landys are great especially if you have one of the older non electronic versions. The nice thing is that all of the parts are available (including the main chassis) and in the states if you can afford it you can build one from scratch. As long as you keep ALL OF THE RECEIPTS to provide traceability and proved you paid taxes on every part you can have a VIN assigned to your home build. Love it, "As stressful as winning an ass kicking contest with one leg".
