High-tech devices are used for instant communication. But one message is fascinating for the slowness of its remarkable ocean voyage. Jamie Yuccas speaks to two teens who have connected through a message in a bottle.
Each weekday morning, "CBS This Morning" co-hosts Gayle King, Anthony Mason and Tony Dokoupil deliver two hours of original reporting, breaking news and top-level newsmaker interviews in an engaging and informative format that challenges the norm in network morning news programs.

I tell you what... Why don't we all throw bottles in the ocean.... Wait? All of us already do it. What a stupid story. And the other two bottles got swallowed by a tortoise that died on the ocean floor.

Agreed. Nobody ever accused news anchors of being intelligent or critical thinkers though.

Interesting that what is essentially pollution, is twisted to a feel good story 😐

@simon kenton why should anyone feel good about people intentionally polluting our oceans more than they already are?

@simon kenton Of the 260 million tons of plastic the world produces each year, about 10 percent ends up in the Ocean.

@simon kenton Get enough bottles out there, and we start getting to that point…Look up North Atlantic garbage patch, and Great Pacific garbage patch! They’re real things!

Don't pollute the ocean please. We don't care about the letter in the bottle or friendship. Thank you.

@simon kenton you make it sound like I'm the bad person while all I did was defending the ocean. But, you probably haven't even gotten a college degree, so I don't blame you if you don't understand the importance of our planet's health. Anyway, have a nice. I have a PhD thesis to write. (I'm busy to respond to your comment, goodbye Simon).

Yeah now the tides are full of microplastics that poison the fish that we ingest, mysterious ways though.🙄

@simon kenton I guess. But I'd be shy if someone found it and wanted to make contact with me . I feel uncool and they'd be like wishing someone more interesting had thrown the bottle. I do hope these 2 become good friends though and their families
