You helped me with my BX2380 purchase early this year and cleared all of the internet hype up for me. I only own a .3 acre lot with a 1 acre easement attaches that I get to play on. My application was a push mower but chose the decked out BX2380. I would never go back and it has enabled me to be more productive in ways I would not have expected. Rather than putting tasks off such as French drains and putting a swell in the rear of the yard I was happy to tackle that when the wife asked. I am also quick to load up and help a friend out which without asking for payment has somehow been able to pay the first 6 payments to kubota financing. Again thanks so much for the presentations. The information is always direct and simple to apply to a purchase.

I'm looking at the BX2680, probably about a month to 2 months out, sadly I'll miss out on the 7 year warranty though, which was one huge thing I was really liking, so I'll be stuck with the 2 year factory warranty...although I don't anticipate problems, I just like the at ease feeling with longer warranty periods on equipment. This will be my first tractor...huge step up from a lawn/garden tractor that I've been using for the past 30 years....yes I've really needed an actual tractor all that time, just never had the financial stability to do so until recently and now waiting on the house to close, so once that's done (yep banks drag their feet when its their money and time) I'll be out on the lot checking out the tractor and implements that I'm definitely going to need to get things on this property the way they should be. I'm thinking the BX2680, the extra few PTO HP will be nice for running implements like a roto-tiller and possibly a small rotary cutter at some point. Mostly need the loader and a box blade for yard & driveway chores to get everything back in shape...my chores list for that tractor keeps getting longer LOL. I've always thought yep it would be great to have a tractor but the cost is quite high, and I've always had more time than money to get stuff done....now that I'm the only person around to work on everything, I can't get stuff done that needs done in 1-2 days off work, its time to have an assistant. Trying to rake and re-grade the driveway by hand and fill in ditches and keep weeds down just gets out of control way too quickly....would be nice to jump on the tractor and knock those types of chores out within a matter of an hour or less, rather than a whole weekend.

I’ve been debating between these two tractors for a while. I was unaware of differences of the 3-point hitch depth control. That alone has me taking the BX out of consideration. I’ll go with the B when the time comes. Thanks
@jamesmichael54756 жыл бұрын
A significant difference between the Kubota BX and B series has to do with functional use. If you are using a mid mount mower to cut your lawn, know that with a backhoe attached to the BX series the mowing deck height can be adjusted up and down. However, with the B series, when a backhoe or another rear PTO device is attached the mowing deck must be fixed in the highest setting and can not be lowered.

I was worried about that too, but with Neil's videos and research I'm finding the same, its the bucket size that the loader is rated for, so it'll do whatever you ask it to with that size bucket. I'm looking at the BX2680 and soon will have one, few house details to finish wrapping up and then I can spend the time and effort getting the tractor and attachments I need. If you got the room the bigger tractor is nice. In my case I have an acre, and limited in space for storage as well as limited entry size in my barn and space to work a tractor inside so the BX will definitely fit the bill in my case...yeah if I still had the 2 acres and better barn access the larger tractor would be ok, but even then a BX would still suit my needs just fine.

Ground clearance is a huge factor in buying a tractor, don’t over look it. Just last week I was clearing some rose bushes for a neighbor and a stick that might have bike only 2’ long jammed up into the bottom of the tractor, broke the fan belt and cut the fuel line. Simple things like that happen often on the bx tractor and I would say it’s a pain in the butt.

I know this video is old this being 09/22, but it all still holds true. One thing I hate is to see a review on a sub-compact and seeing what they are trying to do with it. Know your chores and then get your tools. One thing I disagree on, Niel said it was good for 1/2 acre... I would typically disagree unless you have very raw property and you buy very used. A Bx2380 in 2022 is probably right around $20k or more with a loader and mower. Get a good mower for $5k and hire out the rest of your work if the math works out. Research is key in most things.

I have a B2320. Was going to buy a belly mower. Bought a zero turn instead. Best decision I made. I can mow twice, if not 3 times faster than I ever could with the tractor. I don’t have to put a ton of hours on the tractor mowing. It’s fantastic not having to remove a mower deck when I need to move dirt or gravel, that would just get in the way. Less damage to the lawn as well. The time saved mowing is more than worth the cost to me. Definitely something to consider.

QUESTION: (Btw, the clearest and most focused tractor videos on youtube, great job!). The Question is ... if I have to buy used for financial reasons but, though my un-forested acreages is only about 2 acres ... yet if I want to 1) Snowblow a 400-ft-plus dirt driveway -- 2) Brush-cut and "plow down" yearly saplings. 3) Also, work, till, and york-rake much of the clear acreage that is rough and rocky (for gardening and for creating lawns) and also ... maybe drag out a felled tree or two ... okay, I'll stop there :-) . Then the question is A) Doesn't this strongly lead to the larger B-series over the BX? and B) Does the B series lend itself just as easily to the snowblowing (including a front attached one) and does it have as many easily found attachments??? -- Oh, Just one "P.S." if you don'y mind C) If a B series has a "live" pto versus an "independent" pto -- are these more dangerous and harder to use than the "independent" pto. -- Thanks a million in advance for your thoughts on this.
@wildbill23c3 жыл бұрын
The B-Series is a little larger in size than the BX, so it weighs more, is wider, longer, and taller than a BX, has higher capacity hydraulic system and adds the 3rd range speed to the transmission. If you are going to be doing some log skidding I'd go with the B-Series, better ground clearance and better pulling power. Sure the BX will do it but why not get the larger tractor for the job if you plan on doing that type of work more frequently. Brush cutting you'd want the larger machine too, gives you the ability to hookup to a wider brush hog, as well as other attachments and implements...larger tractor, larger implement accessibility. The BX supposedly can run a 48" brush hog (BX2680 tractor), but I wouldn't push it too far. As far as snow blowing, either tractor will take care of that pretty easily they both offer a front or rear mount snow blower. I think most of today's machines have the independent PTO, and they're pretty simple to use. The BX is just a lever, engaged, or disengaged, then another lever to control mid, rear, or mid and rear PTO selection. For your application, once again I'd chose the B-series machine for that...you may not need the larger B-Series, just the B2301 or B2601 would serve you well, however, they do make a larger B-Series in the B2350 or B2650 which would give you even more weight and power for larger chores that may need the weight, but then you are going to be more limited of course in the places you can access due to the bit larger size. The B-Series will do what you want, its just a matter of how large of a footprint do you want your tractor to have at that point. For me I'm space limited, and I only have an acre, and the things I would need to use a tractor for the BX will more than do those tasks for me....a BX isn't for everyone, and it really comes down to do you have the space for a larger machine, if so get a larger machine you'll thank yourself later LOL. For me the BX will be plenty.

I've been looking at the B2601. The property I am buying is only 1.3 acres, but the majority of it is heavily wooded, overgrown with brush, and hasn't been maintained in 20+ years. Is it overkill to consider the B over the BX for that small of a lot? I feel like the extra ground clearance and higher working power would be nice to have. That said, I guess I could hire someone to come out and clear the lot first, then look at the BX for maintenance... I'd like to eventually put the 3rd function and grapple on the tractor, so that would be a consideration as well. Great video as always, even still at 5 years old! Love the channel.

Really nice overview. I went into my local Kubota dealer with the intent to buy a BX, but once I spoke about my applications and needs, I walked out with a B series (B2601, FEL, plow, mower). I'm really happy with my decision for almost the exact reason you speak of-- I could certainly have accomplished my goals with a BX, but the B series does it faster and with less effort (and wear and tear on the machine, I think). I can grow into the B, versus I'd probably outgrow the BX in a year or so. One thing I'm curious about: I've been told that I shouldn't make use of the drive-over-deck feature on my 60" belly mower since I have a FEL. Is this true? I would plan to take the bucket off before attempting, but I don't want to damage anything obviously. Thoughts? Thanks for the straight-talk on these two models, as I know I struggled with the decision myself.

I have also watched a bunch of youtube videos, and I dunno....... A couple big boys have been on the BX and they look rather big and cramped on the machine. Like fitting a big guy in to a smart car. Hey Neil I have a bx2370 with an LA344 loaded (thanks to your videos and knowing it was possible) I often wish Kubota built a tractor inbeteeen a bx and a b series because I am constantly overworking my Kubota bx and even tho it takes the punishment and laughs I fear that over time I’m going to wear it out so much faster because of the types of applications I am doing with it.. I would love to buy a b series but I feel it would be much too heavy to mow with and too large to fit into some of my trails on my 4 acher property and work effeicantly.. I hate to say it but the mahindra eMax24 seems like the perfect size tractor for me (even tho I can’t STAND mahindra) it’s deffnelty not a sub compact we all know that but it’s a compact tractor with sub compact cloths.. I really like this actually because in my opinion it’s the perfect happy medium between the bx and a b series. I wish Kubota would make something like this. The other issue i do side work and landscaping jobs with my bx and it’s nice and light and easy to trailer around and store.. a b series would take a larger vehicle a larger trailer and a larger shed.. just another reason I would love to have a tractor that’s smack dab in the middle of a bx and a b series. All this being said I LOVE my bx.. I have my relief valve cranked to 2100psi and it does every job I throw at it.. I work that machine so hard yet it’s in great shape still and always fires right up.. I have put over 300 hours on it in the last year and that’s 300 hard working hours and I just worry about how much longer it will be able to keep up this kind of pace doing such hard work.. I may be trading it in maybe in another few years to go larger for these very reasons and only for these reasons..

Would a B2301 mow as well as a Bx2380/2680 with 60” deck? Over the coarse of the year April to October mostly mowing 2-3 acres weekly. I guess my main hang up is when I got into my woods the remaining three acres to begin cleaning up the woods a bit. The ground clearance is of some concern on the Bx (would definitely want the skid plate for the hst fan) Trying to decide. A Bx or B. Looking for one machine to manage our 6 acres. Quite a bit of mowing with probably equal amount of loader work at times. I think either would work. My lot is not all flat some mild slopes in some areas. I’d be taking the deck off quite a bit I imagine. I am resisting the urge to go 1025r green. My brother is fortunate enough to have a neighbor who just purchased a B series TLB with cab and the guy was more then happy for do some digging for him. I could watch that thing for hours. I'm still in the learning stage of buying a BX1880 and have a question: is the 3 pt hitch and mower deck lifting/lowering independent of each other? For example if the mower deck has been removed and you lower the 3pt hitch do you have to worry about the mower deck lift arms lowering also in which they may hit something and cause damage due to the already low ground clearance? Please help me understand how the hitch and mower deck operate in conjunction to each other. Thanks.
@MessicksEquip6 жыл бұрын
They are connected, but you don't need to worry about the three-point as it's well off the ground. There is a lock position to hold up mower deck and the linkage so the three-point can drop independently.
@rudedawg50876 жыл бұрын
That's great; I was not sure about a lock position for the deck and that the two can operate individually. I'm going to our closest Kubota dealership to get a quote on a BX1880 w/48" mmm and considering to get the fel later.Thank you for responding.

Stephen Chellis , this is a comparison that I would like to see as well. Are they better suited for different tasks. It seems like they use a different trans from each other.Do they? I kjow they use different FEL and back hoe. It would be nice to see comparison just on the mid mower since they are night and day with the differences. One is drive over and is suspended and the other is ground following. Is one better suited for certain applications over the other? Does one cut nicer or easier than the other? Does anyone know the real world FEL lift capicity difference in BX and B? I have a BX and could use bit more lift capability. Would be nice to know either % or actual weight differences between them. The specs I've seen are not listed exactly the same for both models making it hard to tell. One says "At lift point" and the other says 500mm forward of pin.
@MessicksEquip4 жыл бұрын
you can compare them, just make sure your comparing the same measurement point. If your looking at the loaders, the model numbers are approx the pivot pin lift cap in KG. So LA343 - LA434 = 91 x 2.2 = 200lbs difference.
@AlarmSystemStore4 жыл бұрын

I am in need of a tractor. My main task would be mowing just over 1/2 an acre, and I also own a woodworking business and would need to use forks to unload lumber from a semi. The wood company said that they can stack the wood according to what the tractor can lift. I would also use it to plow the drive and things like that, but the other two task would be done consistently. I get lumber about every 6 weeks. What would your suggestion be?

What would be the benefit to a rear ballast on a BX. Also had some concern with the bx for a post whole digger implement. Sounds like they can't accommodate a 4' auger long bit. Was concerned cause my frost line is 4ft here, I just have a barn and a deck to build but was wondering the capabilities of the bx. Any suggestions for this. Thanks
@MessicksEquip7 жыл бұрын
+Portugee Prepper you need ballast when you're traveling with a heavy load. You'll find it ballasting all tractors is something you need to consider. You are correct about the post hole auger, subcompact have limited height and limited 3-point travel. You need to go to a b-series if you want to support a 4-foot auger.
@pbgd35 жыл бұрын
Depends what you want to be doing - but I've used the subcompact 3' post hole diggers and fabbed extension tubes (like drilling a well) to go deeper. Did this for some drywell holes. Would be a pain to do that for 100 holes but if you want a subcompact, and will use the post hole digger to plant shrubs similar it's a reasonable way to go. Or just rent a skid steer for a day and be done with it.

Anyone tow a B series with several attachments and some equipment in a trailer with a half ton truck at the hitch non weight distribution and how does it do?
@wmlane33214 жыл бұрын
That is exactly what I'd like to know too. I want the bigger tractor, but not sure how it will pull.
@wildbill23c4 жыл бұрын
The B-Series can weigh as much as 2400lbs, plus a trailer that can handle that weight is usually going to weigh about 1800lbs, any of the new(er) 1/2 ton pickups will handle it if you are careful and have good trailer brakes....any vehicle can get a load moving, the problem is stopping and controlling the load that is your major problem. Saw someone say they pull a B-series behind their Dodge Dakota, so any current 1/2 ton pickup should easily handle your tractor/trailer with implements....just finding a trailer to be able to haul the tractor with loader, and figure on a brush hog too, that'll leave you plenty of room, probably a 18' to 20' trailer would be best that way you don't have the brush hog hanging off the back of the trailer. A Dodge Dakota is rated at about 5500-6000lbs towing capacity with the V8 and trailering package just for reference. An F150, SIlverado 1500, Ram 1500 etc. will easily handle your tractor hauling needs. Brakes are your biggest concern, the trucks have the power to move the load, its stopping like mentioned before that is the problem.

I'm gonna recommend you get a L4760 or a L5060. Those would probably be practical for your application. If you're looking for a lot of power out of a machine that size, get an L6060. That's just my opinion though. Either one of those or get a small M series like an MX4200 or an MX5800. Hope this helps. Good luck.
