My doctor is a genius. My insulin level was 98 compared to normal below 12. It was horrible and I couldn’t seem to do anything to fix it. I was borderline diabetic, skin tags and dark spots on my skin, psoriasis and frequent boils. I was experiencing brain fog, depression, anxiety and 70lbs over weight. Then my doctor said two important words: “stop eating”. He said i had to fast a minimum 3 days up to as long as i can take it. A week? Yes. It worked so well that I now do intermittent fasting every day and on the first week of each month i do a 3 day fast. Our not-fresh, preservative filled food is killing us. In two months my insulin levels returned to normal, skin tags and dark patches are gone, no more boils and my psoriasis is almost gone. ive lost over 30 lbs and when i resumed eating i went ketovore. Just stop eating.

Absolutely love Ben! My father passed from type 2 and I remember him saying how his insulin injections make him fatter and make him feel more sick. He couldn’t sleep for years and suffered tremendously. What Ben is saying about type 2 diabetics and insulin injections is SO correct. Incredibly upsetting to me that our current health system is looking at type 2 diabetes from a blood glucose perspective when it could be looked at from an insulin perspective. Modern medicine desperately needs a change. If you want optimal health you MUST be your own advocate in 2023. Thank you Ben for your years of research ❤️

I drink my ACV with lemon juice and carbonated water right after dinner and try to take a walk. I have a bulletproof coffee at 10 am and eat my meal at 2 and all the fatty meat has liberated me from cravings. I am no longer addicted to bread or ice cream. To hear Dr Bikmans explanation says we need to listen to our bodies! My insulin resistance is gone with my skin tags, fatty liver, joint inflammation and depressed moods. 67 going on 17 and shoveling snow with joy. Thank you for this beautiful discussion! I do intermittent fasting, eating my first meal around 10 or 12 in the morning and my second meal around 3 to 4 in the afternoon. And I don't eat again untill the next morning. Morning meal is healthy animal proteins, eggs with salmon, hamburger, or bacon and sauteed onions and garlic scrambled or in an omelette. Second meal is either wild caught salmon, steak, hamburger with low carb vegetables sautéed in high quality olive oil on low heat with some nuts pecans walnuts or macadamia nuts and a nice piece of 90% dark chocolate! Gone to the lab to complete all of my blood work and I will have answers in 3 to 5 days. My arcanthosis necrocans has greatly diminished if not disappeared on the back of my knuckles and greatly diminished around my neck. My blood pressure has dropped from 140/95 to 105/70. Resting blood glucose went from around 110 down to 79. I'll see what the Homa IR and other insulin indicators tell me. Good interview. I would say, about protein levels, that Dr. Walter Kempner was healing all kinds of chronic conditions from the 1940's to nearly 1990 using a low protein (plant based) diet. He believed that people we eating too much protein - due to such easier access to meats - which was taxing the liver and the kidneys and thus causing illness. He chose "rice" as his primary source of protein because rice is fairly ubiquitous worldwide. He wanted to have the greatest impact on world health. His clinic was near Durham, NC and his practice was, as i recall, causing 25% of the economy there because people, often near death, were coming from all over the world to save themselves. He personally also attended to the worst of cases - again hoping to heal them and learn from the experience. Obviously and historically the Chinese and Indian peoples did quite well for millenia on heavy rice-based diets. His story was eventually written by a female associate (MD) in more recent years. In the Gospel of the Essences - a Q&A between Essene people and Jesus Christ, Christ said to eat no animal and no cooked food. So He promoted pure vegetarian eating with one exception - drinking the milk of an animal was fine.
@darkpatches2 жыл бұрын
Based on your idols and love of anecdotes, I can see why you revere Kempner. He was the king of anecdotes. People still died or did not improve in significant numbers on his diet of rice and fruit. The improvements can be explained by his diet not over-activating the Randle cycle, which happens when you eats a large proportion of carbs with fats. Bikman is very familiar with this. I'm sure he's talked about how low-fat high-carb diets (like Kempner's) as well as high-fat low-carb diets reduce obesity, as well as improve insulin resistance and other metabolic disorders. Unfortunately, a long-term low-fat diet of only plants doesn't work for most people, because it's deficient of so many nutrients, as well as other reasons. Bikman falls on the low-carb side, as you can find out in his book. It's a Good book. In fact, a Better book, because it's based on science and not self-serving anecdotes.

Sorry, Little O, but you can't base your ideas about what Jesus said, on a report of a *fictional conversation* between Jesus and the Essenes. There are plenty of firsthand accounts about what Jesus said about all kinds of things. We do know that Jesus Himself ate fish, and probably poultry. The Old Testament lists the foods that were okay to eat along with those to avoid. Meat and fish *are acceptable,* so long as they are on the list of "clean" animals and fish. So, Jesus being God, He was there giving the rules governing food along with His Father back in the Old Testament days. It's not likely that He would contradict Himself or His Father in the days of His Incarnation. 😁😁😁👍

I wish Ben would realize that there is good fat and bad fat.The bad fat is so bad that it causes eventually insulin resistance.It's the primary driver of carb addiction because those seed oils that are primarily Linoleic Acid/ Omega 6 break the mitochondria by burning too hot. PUFA'S which are over 98% Linoleic Acid from most seeds, alot of nuts, beans like soy, make the cell insulin sensitive, fact the cell membrane can not keep the polyunsaturated fats out! They go thru the cell wall because they are too thin to keep out and make floppy cell membranes when they are tried to be used. When the mitochondria try to utilize PUFA'S they oxidize easily, creating free radicals, inflammation and toxins like aldehydes.Once attempting to make energy from, it breaks and locks open the mitochondria, insulin keeps shoving in more fatty acids til engorgement of the cell, til it eventually leaks these fatty acids back out of the cell! Forced insulin sensitivity, it can't close off to the action of insulin. Alot of the time it kills the mitochondria and causes cell death! The insulin then takes this overflow and puts it into other fat cells to get rid of it because it's a lousy fuel source.Italian scientist tested saturated fat as baseline, burns 100% efficient, while Omega 6 produces only 50% energy known as ATP. Monounsaturated fat produced 115% because the bend in it's lone open bond being in the middle was a easy snip to create 2 short saturated fats that could enter easier into the mitochondria but still have a stable slow burn unlike the polys that burned too hot and broke to lock open the mitochondria.Omega 3 only produces 20% ATP, thank god it's not as prevalent as Omega 6.You can read about it in "The Fatburn Fix", by Dr Cate Shanahan. Ancestrally, basically before Crisco in 1911 came into being that sold 2.7 million pounds of their transfat lard in 1912 and in 4 years later sold 60 million pounds giving away free cookbooks with a can of purchase, gave out free samples to grocers, dieticians, households, resturants, gave away free fried doughnuts on city streets, it was all down hill from there. Before then we ate 0.6 - 1.7% of polyunsaturated in our diet but a lipid biopsy tested 3 - 5% in our fat indicating bio-accumulation in our fat cells.The body really doesn't want it.From KZbins of Dr Chris Knobbe.Then once we have killed mitochondria, cells, wrecked oxidative stress, free radical cascades in our body's systems and made aldehydes and other toxins, we only got one other source of fuel to burn, CARBS to make ATP for energy. Problem is their not to good, fact they only make 40 units of ATP while saturated fat makes 140 ATP units.Looks like your gonna be craving alot of carbs to get your energy bank filled.From "Nourishing Fats",Sally Fallon Morell president and founder of The Weston A. Price Foundation.Avoid the seed oils like the plague they are! Google olive oil it runs 3.5% - 21% Linoleic Acid.Wide range huh, due to season, olive type, unripe to ripe ratio of harvest and in the United States being cut with seed oils.It's been suggested to not have a slew of just monounsaturated without the balance of saturated like it would be from animal fats.So even pure olive oil, avocado, macadamian oil will cause an imbalance.Just another thought Ben's meal replacement supplement has Lecithin in it whether from Soy or Sunflower is about 63% Linoleic Acid.

Thanks for providing a lot of insight... It is so convincing...Is there any kinda 'Fat Pyramid', as to that which fat is good and which group of fats is bad and such bad group andwould obviously be on the restricted side of the Pyramid.... A doctor here in India was placing Desi ghee, indian clarified butter, MCT or Coconut oil, Olive Oil, Canola Oil and so on on his scale of Good Fats and seed oils to bad one... Would request you for your take , thanks

How does insulin resistance create hypertension?
@Armelle-dg5dxАй бұрын
@zrje08 As far as I know one mechanism is that insuling modifies kidneys' filtration, making them retain sodium more. + high insulin by itself creates inflammation.

Dr Bikman seid en error. Sugar in fruit juice is half fructose and half glucose. Not what he said. This is true for all sugars from plants. Ofcourse complex sugars composed of the two can be present, as well as other kind of sugars.

Do you think adults need a lot of protein when human breast milk is so low in it? This confuses me as you would think a growing baby would need much more.
@johnsnow52642 жыл бұрын
You are totally right. Human protein requirements are far lower than many supplement industries and the animal product companies want us to believe.

Breast milk is mostly fat and cholesterol, which is exactly what's in meat.
@johnsnow52642 жыл бұрын
@@hollynoel7736 No. Breastmilk is very high in sugars (7%), fats (4%) and a bit of protein (1%). Cholesterol is negligible (0.016 %). So not at all like meat!!! Again, another low IQ try of an uneducated meat lover.

So chronic inflammation, from an autoimmune disease for example, can CAUSE insulin resistance and chronic inflammation can also result FROM insulin resistance? Regarding vegetarian diet "theology" and climate "theology", there seems to be an aspect of virtue signaling trumping the reality that plants are not an adequate source of protein, and that humans evolved for millions of years to be omnivores, and not herbivores.

The saying is: "The proof *of* the pudding is *in the eating."* It may look good and smell good, but you must taste it to see if it *is* good. The proof of anything is in the *testing* of it. In the case of a pudding, the test is the taste. To say,"The proof is in the pudding" tells us nothing.

Out of this whole in-depth conversation, the thing that is perplexing …the part where insulin is trying to get into the cell as fat is leaking out the other side. We have been low carb for decades, cleaned up our eating…organic/grass fed/wild caught/gluten free/keto -paleo…IF as well, gone through every single product consumed or used to be sure it’s clean. We have been unable at all to lose any weight or improve insulin sensitivity in the slightest. PCOS, BIOTOXIC MOLD ILLNESS,HASHIMOTO,MALABSORPTION and the damn list goes on. Metformin, victoza Symlin, bayetta, cinnamon, berberine, LDN …still massive inflammation…high levels of leptin resistance as well. What ACTUALLY PUTS A SCREACHING HALT TO THIS PROCESS?
