That Indian Head Penny was produced from 1859 to 1909. Let's say it was dropped in 1864 toward the end of the Civil War. Here's what that penny could buy.. In 1864, a penny could buy a variety of items, including: Penny candies: A penny could buy a selection of sugary candies, such as bubble gum, licorice, jaw breakers, peppermint sticks, taffy, or lollipops Beer: A quart of beer could be purchased for a penny Coffee: A cup of coffee could be purchased for a penny Gin: A quarter of gin could be purchased for a penny That penny isn't worth as much, but it was a good find.

Hi Chigg. A fan here who loves your videos . Yea a lady we like to metal detect too.My question is do you sell any of your finds??? I have a nephew that is a US History buff. He lives in South Africa and I’d love to send him a few pieces of the civil war. You are the expert and share so much of your knowledge with us. Please let me know if purchasing is doable. Again Thank You for a great video.

Love your videos my fellow treasure hunter. I live on the river in point of rocks area. Im down on that river all summer long. Youve probably boated right by me and I didnt even know it. I dive with a k bar to get around the rocks to find stuff trapped. But after watching these videos Id love to get a metal detector. Any suggestions for a good starter one? Cheaper the better but also not complete junk. Thanks sir!
