In one performance of Underneath from that tour he became very emotional, arms open like a crucifix then jabbed his chest mouthing 'look at me'. I swear he was in tears. His partner was in the crowd with Adams mother, so maybe he was singing for them, he certainly gave it his all.

Love the raw material John.-- I can also tell you as a Queenie that I see exactly what Sir Brian May and Roger Taylor saw when they put him on the stage. Not to replace Freddie (NOONE can do that) but to bring the drama and colorful performance back. Adam is truly a great artist !
@lstapes77 ай бұрын
Well-said😃… and nobody can replace Adam! His musical signature will also be part of the legacy to so many new Queen fans who have only ever known him as the frontman for these great songs. Many of these fans of Queen + Adam Lambert have by now downloaded so much of Queen’s original discography. I do not remember which famous rocker it was who, to paraphrase, commented that Queen had been fortunate enough that lightning struck twice, but I agree. I’m a big fan of both Freddie and Adam.

Thanks so much John, for delving into the music of Adam Lambert! He is VERY INCREDIBLE LIVE! He cowrote Underneath. As for his vocals, he studied music for many years and takes great care of his instrument! Please give us more Lambert! A couple years ago here in Vegas he covered Closer ( by NIN) and Personal Jesus (Depeche Mode) which shocked his Glamberts, in a good way! Hugs! ❤💋 😗

I was also at the Vegas concert and got to see him twice. On one of the “Underneath” performances, he came out very close and in addition to gesturing to himself, was crying. And on a completely different note, “Closer” and “Personal Jesus” were so great, as was his “Black Hole Sun”. I really appreciate your reactions. I have drastically curtailed the number of reactors I listen to; you are clearly genuine. That is why you appreciate that in a performer.

Adam is so funny onstage. He has a great sense of humor. He sometimes has Halloween concerts in Vegas and dresses in a few costumes during the show. I just loved when he was kind of dancing between transferring between 2 songs and he points up to the horns he was wearing and said I'm so horny. Tommy is straight but Adam would kiss during a song. He's the one Adam kissed at his performance at the AMAs. It set Adam's career back. When he released Whataya Want From Me, it saved him from being a music outcast. I love Underneath. It's at one of Halloween concerts. There's a story behind the song. He was writing this with cowriters and recording it in Nashville. He got called away to the phone. When he came back he was upset. He told them it was an interview. Instead of talking to him about his music all they wanted to talk about his personal life and being gay. He went in with all the emotions and recorded this.

I was at the The Venetian in 2021, which was the first time a show was open there after the pandemic, when he sang Underneath at the show and I had to grab my kleenex as the tears rolled down my face. Adam felt that song to his soul and was able to project that through singing Underneath, which is an incredible song, I bought it too. There was part of me that wanted to let the people who hurt him so deeply a piece of my mind, but bigots are bigots. I'm more than tired of the press etc. asking gay people what they do in their bedrooms, they'd never ask their straight friends the same questions because if they did, their friends would never talk to them again. Everyone should be allowed a private personal life.
@mlmartin29226 ай бұрын
@@veneziastar I am a supporter of the LGBTQAI+ Community and I totally understand what you're saying and the purpose of the song Underneath. I can only imagine the bigotry that Queer people (if I may use that terminology, I still HATE that word due to it's negative connotation in the past, but I know the Community has taken power of that word).have to deal with on a daily basis. There is no reason for such hate. I love people who are able to be as authentic as they can, but also understand some still struggle and may always struggle and that hurts my heart. The song for myself, the lyrics, say what I think inside my head, because of long term abuse (and I mean in EVERY FORM) by my parents growing up and 2 sexual assault as an adult and other traumatic events in my life, I deal with Major Depressive Disorder, Social Anxiety, Generalized Anxiety and Complex PTSD due to all that. I also want people to see Underneath and not judge me for mental health issues, that I did not choose. Sorry to babble, but I'm having a rough time right now. I'm just saying that the song can mean many things to different people and that's the power of songs like this. I've loved Adam from the beginning and I don't hide that I'm a fan. ❤️ Please take care.

I had to do some research on this one, but before American Idol, Adam Lambert was the frontman for an underground rock band called Citizen Vein, which wrote and performed, "Crawl Throught Fire", "Pop Goes the Camera" and "Kiss and Tell", the members of the band were Monte Pittman, Tommy Victor and Steve Sidelynk, they only lasted a few months. You may have noticed Adam flinched when that "dog" was thrown on stage. Whe he was on the American Idol tour, some lady in the audience threw a 12" dildo at him, he was was lucky that it only hit him the chest, he said he was horrified and also found it incredibly funny, as it landed at his feet like a dead salmon, he didn't stop singing and kicked it off the stage and he said he thought it hit the lady that threw it. I was thinking roses would have been a better option. He is openly and proudly gay and has been the leader of more gay parades than I can count & in more countries than I can remember. Everyone on American Idol knew he was gay, he just didn't realize he needed to announce it to the world, he said he didn't have a boyfriend at that time so he couldn't say hi to him the audience he'd been out since he was 18 and he was 27 when he appeared on Idol, which was the last year he could be on it and he wouldn have aged out of the competition.

The Enter Sandman performance was during his Glamnation Tour that supported his first CD, about a year off Idol. He was the first contestant to headline his own tour right out of the gate and it was international. He was unbridled back then during his live concerts. My ultimate favourite performance of that era was his performances of Purple Haze & Whole Lotta Love from Amsterdam where weed was legal at the time and was enjoyed on stage. I've been weary about suggesting this one because he is so free in his presentation that I fear it could be too much for some. After seeing your reaction to Enter Sandman I think you might appreciate it. Here's the link - kzbin.info/www/bejne/mKbahmmhbLeDaMU BTW at every show during that tour he kissed Tommy during "Fever". I think it was a deviant reaction to him getting in trouble kissing Tommy live on the American Music Awards and almost derailing his career before it started
