Exactly this. It’s always the same when a band creates a unique sound... naturally, when that sound becomes too diluted they want to move away and keep on top of the trend. It’s basically just marketing a product at its simplicity. If Architects were to write another album in the vein of the last three albums, then what is there to separate them from the 1000 other bands out there doing the same stuff? This progressive step 100% makes sense to me

I'm in the middle. It's not my favorite Architects song but I also think it was really catchy and neat. I feel like a lot of people are jumping to the conclusion that they've completely changed their sound and are now "just like BMTH" (LOTS of comments about BMTH with this release, as expected). It's one song off of an entire album, we have no idea what else is on that bad boy. Anyway, I am on board with you. I like this direction for them anyway but the Architects fan in me still wants to hear some of those beautiful uncleans from Sam Carter on the new album.

Considering the variety that they've shown on Daybreaker and other albums, I'm optimistic that this album will have a wide range of songs. So I'll make my final judgement until I hear the album but for now this song is awesome.

@@METALBIRB I think you could even hear it a bit in Holy Hell too, A Wasted Hymn has a different vibe. I wonder how that would’ve done if they released it as the first single off of Holy Hell. I think the whole album is going to have this vibe ... I’m a little on the fence about it ... I compare this to the parkway ire album when they went a different route you might say ... I like it but it’s just different from what we are use to ... musically I feel like they are going for more of a modern rock sound ...while it’s not what we are are use to we are still happy for these bands regardless....hmmmm that said I’m not sure if I will be as into this new record as I was of the priors ....

I was disappointed with the track, but it wasn't just because it was all singing. The sound was just so completely different from the Architects I'm used to, instrumentally, it was very bland, which isn't something I'd expect to say about an Architects track. Lyrically it felt quite weak too, like some kind of Three Days Grace track. Anyone using this track to judge their direction is definitely unnecessarily jumping the gun, but seeing a new unexpected track by Architects, and for it to sound nothing like Architects, I can understand people's response. Something I said in a comment elsewhere, is that I may enjoy this song more if it pops up on a Spotify radio in the background and I can hear it without any association to the name Architects, otherwise I'm just gonna keep attaching preconceptions.

I had seen them on a huge tour in 2010 and didn't have a clue who they were, but after seeing them play I ended up picking up a copy of Hollow Crown and they have been a consistent favorite since. As for the song, I had to listen to it a few times to really process that I was hearing Architects, if that makes sense. I feel that I appreciate it more after giving it a few listens though. No, it's not overly technical or what we're used to hearing by them, but it's still a solid track. Also what was supposed to be coming after Holy Hell? I think that Album was a good "peak" of their "old" sound, no need to let go of it completely, but yeah, they can't be writing about death and misery forever, people complain if they do it different and people complain if they do the "same". Just wait for the next album and be as stoked as you can, because being "disappointed" in something you haven't even heard yet, is a waste of time.

This has the same effect as Ludens from BMTH did. Hated it at first, but after enough times I actually enjoy it

@@omegazx7236 eh, I wouldn't even put it in my top 20 BMTH songs. Too poppy for me personally but I love the breakdown.

@@jeanpierre3061 I don't mind the poppiness, I'm a big metalcore fan but Amo is actually my favorite BMTH album, it's just THAT good in my opinion

I just discovered this band because of this song and I can say I liked it even though you said that it is an experiment for them. Any recommendations?

I could be wrong BUT! I think I saw somewhere that architects worked with royal blood for this new album.

I haven't listened to an Architects track this much since they first dropped Doomsday. Funny Doomsday story: my ex needed someone to drive her for a weekend trip for a surgery. I went with her and (hilariously enough) another ex, her best friend. She's sleeping off the surgery an entire day, so the other girl and I go the mall. She's shopping in this girly soap and makeup place and it's a huge place, so I'm just waiting. One of the staff is wearing an Architects hoodie. We start chatting. The girl goes 'hey, get a room, you're gross!' and this girl and I just laugh. Next night, we end up hooking up at a fucking Architects show 🤣

Holy Hell was amazing for me, since then ive been waiting for new music. It was a really nice evolution cause they sound very different in holly hell than other albums. This is going to a good direction but i think that in a way this song was kinda simple. Still like it, its a good song
