One hell of a way to talk about childhood trauma. I don't know much about Phil Bozeman, but I've heard years ago, before this album came out, that his father was not a very good man, to put it lightly. And reading the lyrics while he's screaming them just makes my heart drop. I truly wish the best for Phil, and hope they still make amazing music.

Kudos to Phil Bozeman for flawlessly enunciating in that deep guttural register, the drumming really shines on their new stuff, super dynamic. As for the three guitars playing the same main riff, well on one hand, it’s lack luster and boring at first listen but on the other hand, it’s actually pretty damn catchy, the riffs were structured to be more percussive and centered around the full song as opposed to technical leads and complex shapes and that makes their overall sound have this simplistic crushing groove. It’s very pop structured but I feel like many fans will gravitate toward that especially when they play live. Now whether this was a good change in direction for them, that’s not up to me to say. Imo tho, I do enjoy my death metal with groove but also shred.

Given the context of the album. It seems that’s what they really wanted. @nackskott126 жыл бұрын
This. Nobody talks about how their song structures have become so tired. Something that made their earlier stuff unique to me was the fact that they didn't really repeat riffs and every song was a journey. Specifically, that's what I liked about The Somatic Defilement. There's chorus - sounding parts, but they're never repeated, and the verse riffs are all different. Compare a song like Fairy Fay, Prostatic Fluid Asphyxiation or Ear To Ear's song structure to anything they've done recently and you'll see what i mean. This is why I'm still not on board with this album despite it being "heavy" - the songwriting just bores me to tears on anything after Corruption.

To say this isn't good is ridiculous though, and this is coming from a guy that discovered Whitechapel at the release of This Is Exile, went back and heard and loved the earlier work and everything since. They change. They try new sounds. All bands that are together for longer than a decade do this. Some people don't dig it. Some people don't. And that is fine. AJ the Marauder that last album by them was not good this is how you do deathcore mix with nu metal.

Suicide Silence were never good to begin with. Whitechapel are at least consistent in their music.

I don't know who was first but the intro is literally THE SAME to DOOM ETERNAL's "The only Thing They Fear is you" : kzbin.info/www/bejne/eaaZYqSdpZuLpac

This song was first, and it’s not “literally the same”. It has an identical rhythm, but that’s about it. They’re completely different riffs.

How are people not digging this and Brimstone?
@coreyconley82676 жыл бұрын
Twisty brimstone was good, I love it but Black Bear to me is an incredibly odd mess, the NU metal type of grove is alright but compared to Brimstone Black bear has a better riff albeit it’s over played I mean fuck this band has three guitarists and a bassist why do all four individuals have to just chug? Some shredding/solos every now and then would be lit.

0/10 no blackbear feature.

Agreed. Every band should get blackbear on a track.

Somatic was the last good WC album for you? Why are you still around after the past 5 albums then?
@febririyan77766 жыл бұрын
@@acemusic8060 WC album is always good i thought. But somatic so special for me, and also their best work for me. Theres no deathcore band that made impresive album like that ( or i just dont know) , and maybe lots of people want something new crazy like that again, and only WC could do that..but it never happened. So.... It happened in lot of bands.
