As a 47 year old black man who has been a metalhead since I was 12, its good to see you guys going down the Sepultura rabbit hole. This song is off the Chaos AD album. The next album, Roots is the last one with founding member Max Cavalera( vocal, guitar). The first three albums after his departure are kind of mehh(although the second one Nation was the best of the three). Every album after the the third (which was awful it was called Roorback) got progressively much better and I have enjoyed them. Max after leaving has been putting out great music. His two bands Soulfly, and Cavalera Conspiracy( A band he started with his brother Iggor, who was Sepultura's drummer for 19 years) I saw Sepultura live in concert 12/30/92 at DelMar Fairgrounds in San Diego,Cal. They were opening for Ministry and Helmet( great bands!) it was awesome!!!!!!!! Some interesting things about the band; they are from Brazil, which was at the time when band started, a brutal military dictatorship. Despite this the managed t put out a high quality ep, then an album(Morbid Visions, their first). This got the attention of of Scott Burns(a pioneer producer in this genre) he help them make their 2 album Schizophrenia and the blew up in underground world wide. If you guys have gotten through this long discourse i am going to give some suggestions for your musical journey; Annilator(Canada) Kreator, Sodom(Germany) Death Angel, Possessed,(San Francisco), Death,Obituary, Morbid Angel,Cannibal Corpse(Tampa Bay, my hometown!!!) Napalm Death, Carcass, ENT, Cathedral, Celtic Frost, Venom(England)and some Christian bands in the genre; Believer, Mortification, Deliverance, Living Sacrifice, Tourniquet, Seventh Angel,Paramecium, Extol, Lengsel, I can go on and on and on. I love all music, but metal and hard rock is to first music to move me soul deep. These are only a fraction of the bands I listen to. Sorry for for the long windedness , but i hope you two continue on this musical journey.

I discovered Sepultura when I was 13 years old in 1996. It literally changed my life. I started to delve into heavy metal and that shaped my cultural identity that I maintain even today 25 years later. But more importantly Sepultura introduced me to struggles that are universal to us all. I became an activist because of Sepultura. I became a metal head because of Sepultura.

It's good to see people expanding their horizons, and incorporating these different genres into their heads. SO many people misinterpret, and stereotype metal, rock, anything with actual INSTRUMENTS in it. I've noticed this for years with die hards who like ONLY rap and hip hop, etc... Mostly, they just write it off.. "it's noise", or "they are just growling and screaming." Or they mock the guitar tones.. They go like.."breer ree reewer", mock sir guitar with hands flailing like a wounded seagull... It's not until you start LISTENING, and also, reading lyrics simultaneously as the same plays, that you see how deep it is....and how deep and varied the subject matters go. Music APPRECIATION goes a long way. Watching someone play a solo-and just hearing it in a song, are also 2 different things. You may not appreciate it, if you didn't SEE what was really going on. This kind of stuff is NOT easy to play, like those Pantera solos you heard, etc. Good to see people APPRECIATING. Sometimes I feel these types of reaction videos are fake, because I knew some DIEHARD rap/hip hop fans. They would NEVER let me show them anything EYE was into. I'd heard all they liked, etc.. After they blasted a single they liked about 43 times... I'm like, ok...I heard it... Then I'd be like, "listen to this, check this out"... Nope.. Nope! Don't like it!... They ran away. Gave it NO TIME. (I mean, I have areas of A.D.D. too, but damn.) Didn't even give it a CHANCE to see IF they liked it, or if was there any actual musical value. They didn't care about musicians or musical value. I remember being frustrated, wondering: How were they not getting this?!? They would never listen. Just wrote it, and me, off as "crazy". "Crazy headbanger". "With that crazy assed music he listens to".... Only a couple people, years later, told me that they could FINALLY see what I was talking about, and see why I was into it. Some of this stuff that people react to, the songs..the bands... are absolutely legendary. And it will never be like that again. Those days are not coming back. Not like it was. The tours, the shows... It will only ever be a dim shadow of what it once was. And it shocks me sometimes, when people are JUST hearing it. Or getting it. Like, where were you? That stuff is timeless. How did you not know?

I saw them on this tour, the Chaos A.D. Tour. I took my younger sister to her first concert; Sepultura! It was at the Trocadero in Philly and if you know anything about the Troc, the whole downstairs is a pit. So we were watching the first band, Fudge Tunnel, and my sister was freaking out about the pit. I was like 'wait for it'. Sepultura opened with 5 minutes of the opening sounds of that album and finally Green lasers and smoke filled the stage and they broke into Chaos A.D. and immediately following into Territory; just like the album. The pit was from one end to the other of the room it two beats. My poor sister was hanging onto a pillar, near the wall, for dear life! It was an amazing Concert!! I saw them in NYC at the Tattoo the Earth tour and they were ok. But I got to see the first time Metallica and Slayer ever shared a stage. Slayer and Slipknot were the final act of each night, switching each night. That night it was Slayer, then Slipknot, then Metallica!!! That was a bad ass one-two-three punch! And that one I got to share with my two brother's, and my younger brother's first concert. So Sepultura has a meaning in my family.

Sepultura is from Brazil... this was a huge song for them in 1993. Max Cavalera (vocals & guitar) wrote about social issues in his career... 'Refuse/resist' ... 'Slave new world' ... 'Amen' ... from the "Chaos AD" album had similar commentary. Sadly, Max Cavalera left Sepultura in 1997 (his brother Iggor Cavalera on drums, left in 2006) ... Max Cavalera founded a new band Soulfly (check them out!) in 1998... and has had numerous projects, including Cavalera Conspiracy, w/ Iggor on drums. Sepultura is still (mostly) based in Brazil - guitarist Andreas Kisser and bassist Paulo Xisto hired American vocalist Derrick Green in 1998, and kept Sepultura active, recording & touring... drummer Eloy Casagrande joined in 2011. Old Sepultura fans complain that it's not Sepultura without Max Cavalera or Iggor... but I say they're still awesome 🤘🤘🔥
