With a little searching you can find video of the actual on-stage gifting, as well as interviews where both women talk about each other. Dany was *floored* when it happened, and she only thought at the time that Lzzy was loaning her own guitar for the performance; she had no idea that it was a gift.

The Warning have a wonderful relationship with Metallica’s Enter Sandman. 1) They did a video cover in their basement when they were 14, 12, and 9 that their father uploaded to KZbin for the grandparents to see. 25M+ views later.... 2) Metallica invited Alessia Cara to participate in the Blacklist 30th Anniversary album during COVID. The international management agency that represents both Alessia and The Warning asked Metallica if both groups could be brought together for this project. The two groups wrote (Alessia in Canada, The Warning in Mexico), recorded, and produced an entirely new version of Sandman in only ten days that ended up being the lead track on Metallica’s anniversary album. The official music video for that is great. 3) The Warning then did their Sandman version at a 2022 concert at the Teatro Metropolitan in Mexico City (aka CDMX). This live performance is fantastic. 4) Then in late 2023 at the Pepsi Center in Mexico City they did this live version you are reacting to in front of 8000 fans. This time with strings. Epic. I have to admit, I am not a Metallica fan, and I was sick of this song, until this version came along. A lullaby where Dany very sweetly puts you to bed, then rouses the troops, shares a little prayer, the angel chorus with strings comes to sing you to sleep, then Boom, the hammer drops. I think of this very much as the female version of the Sandman tale told as a dark lullaby. So good. Delicate, powerful, soothing, strong, gentle, fierce-all at the same time. I love this version. I was one of the lucky ones to be at the Pepsi Center for this performance. It was soooo good.

This is the all-time definitive version of this song, IMHO. I've never been a Metallica afficionado with the possible exception of this song when it first appeared, but these young women have totally reimagined it in the best way. This version is incredible!

This was a special and unique performance with the strings. Metallica asked them to do this cover in collaboration with Canadian pop singer Alessia Cara for The Metallica Blacklist album, celebrating the 30th anniversary of The Black Album. The official music video features Alessia as a projection since she couldn’t travel to Mexico due to COVID. In the live performance, her "oh-oh-oh-oh" vocals are still included on the backing track.

Musically, they play it in E-flat, same key as the original, but they reharmonized pretty much the entire song...they did increase the tempo, but that gets offset by Pau playing the drum parts in half-time which makes it feel slower and more dramatic...

First, I'm not the biggest Metallica fan, but when I heard this version, I literally jumped out of my seat !!! The Edge, the Attitude, THE DRUMMS (yeah, Paulina "Pau" is something else, and I am a Huge Pau fanboy) and strings... This song is on Metallica's tribute album "The Metallica Blacklist", And it's great and all (Alessia Cara is the singer with The Warning), but I love Dany's voice more. The Gibson explorer was a gift from Lzzy Hale from Halestorm. LZZY conspired with Dany's guitar tech and got the guitar made to Danys specs and pickups. And then gifted it to her live on stage between songs while switching guitars.
