Thanks for your reaction to Evolve, a song that The Warning most often finish their set with. Your enthusiasm for music is infectious. I grew up in the 70s' listening to bands like Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Rainbow, and Iron Maiden (80's), and I feel that a term like "metal" has different meanings for different generations of music-lovers. I think that the Warning identify themselves as a hard rock band that draws on what has gone before while definitely embracing and absorbing any contemporary sounds or styles that interest them. Their latest album, Keep Me Fed, seems to encapsulate this approach. Anyway, I hope we see more The Warning reactions from you in the future.

You were asking about Pau’s drum set and her playing to her right on the floor tom’s more often. There are a few reasons for this. In general, you will notice that many of the metal drummers are gravitating towards smaller kits that resemble jazz set ups. This is because for most drummers, it’s more comfortable and better positioned to utilize more technique in their playing. Pau’s is also that way with ride cymbal (larger cymbal) just to her right and set very low, which in essence, push’s her toms a little more to the left. This is why you see that gap when looking at Pau’s set from the front, giving you a very clear view of Pau. While pushing the toms a little to her left, the ride cymbal’s position also moves the two floor Tom’s on the right side further back which is the reason Pau is always seemingly playing to her right and a little behind her. Pau uses two big floor toms and two crash cymbals. These are to her right side also. You’ll see her playing that right side often because her drums are set up for more sound and bigger volume. This is a necessity for a three piece band like TW. The bigger fatter sounds from both cymbals and floor toms fill in gaps that would normally be filled by a second rhythm guitar and/or a keyboard. TW is very good at sounding huge with only three instruments and it’s because of their way of fine tuning from the type of instruments to their settings and how they play and how the songs are arranged. TW works their ass off to do this. Another band that uses these same techniques is JINJER and it was Vlad’s drum clinic and play thru that I learned how this was being done. There is a reason why the guitar players in both bands have two pickups on their guitars. BIGGER SOUND.

The cymbals are so low because their upper bodies are so short ;-) They are at the normal height compared to her body size. For jazz drummers it is even lower.
@rodneyramirez603
@rodneyramirez603 14 сағат бұрын
@ I didn’t say cymbals, I said ride cymbal. I didn’t say anything about the height of the other two crash cymbals, only about how they’re being used musically and why. None of my explanation has anything to do with Pau’s height. My description refers to the trend of drummers using jazz like set ups which have ride cymbals positioned lower than they used to be. ;)

A lot of people never even notice Pau's slave hi-hat she had on the right side that she likes to go to when playing something that requires her to be a bit straight-on or when she is doing double-bass kicks. Not a ton of drummers use those, but she uses it very effectively... and in this song.
@rodneyramirez603
@rodneyramirez603 4 сағат бұрын
@ Yes, I had forgotten about that one! I can tell you another hidden one nobody ever notices is the little 8in splash she has just to the left of her hi hat. The only vid I’ve seen it in is animosity. She’s playing fast 16th’s on the hi hat and she hits the little splash on an accented 16. She’s has to move really fast to hit that splash. There was also a piccolo snare there but I haven’t seen it lately.

I think they will get heavier as they progress. They're all about the show and they play through the show no matter what mistakes happen. I think this makes them look freer on stage. They sometimes laugh at each other's mistakes and they definitely help out when someone is struggling - they're sisters.

Hey, I'm a Warning lover myself, and I agree, they really are carrying the torch of good old rock & roll forward. The death of rock really took place in the 90s when record companies decided that grunge (barf) was the future of rock, mostly due to the fact that the bands were cheap to sign and the older, real rock acts were relatively expensive and demanding. And of course electronically produced pop was super-cheap to create as you only needed a producer and a pile of synths. Rap only needed a very few individuals to produce as well. I really did think that rock was dead forever, but I now realize that it was always there, just buried by the major labels, and no longer in the forefront of the public consciousness as it was in the 70s and 80s. So many great rock bands are now emerging with incredible talent and who are not afraid to show that they can use that talent.

The Warning span the gamut of folk through rock, rock and roll, hard rock, demented cheerleader punk, and borderline metal. They call themselves a rock band. Their A&R people at Lava Records call them a rock band. If you watch this whole show, you will be amazed at the range of emotions presented. They brought the audience to tears several times.

As for your question for if we think they will go more metal well I do prefer there heavier side to them myself but all 3 ladies are very much into all kinds of music other than rock and metal. They definitely like to explore and if you get into there albums you will see different styles of music come out from them and that is because of there appreciation for all types of music. So in my opinion…no I don’t think they will go completely heavy metal but they will throw songs in every now and then that will have what you are interested in 😊

The three of them understand each other perfectly. When they announce the interviewer before an interview, they do it in sync like triplets. When you ask Pau about the style, she says: "It's rock." For me it's post grunge, bands like Foo Fighters sound similar. I suspect that some musicians don't seem so committed because they aren't involved in the creation process either. For them, it's just a job. With The Warning, everyone is involved.

Yeaaaaaaaaaaaah!!! They are getting heavier (latest album has some crushing down-tuned BWOMMMMMM moments), but they're not moving into metal, at least not in the sense metal is characterized today. But they have this vibe metal fans like, too! I think they're going to work hard to not fall into any genre, and they're going to continue to have clashing pop and metal aspects in their rock. Whatever they do I will listen to with great interest. Also, sometimes because they're still so young it's hard to remember that they've been performing on stage for over ten years now! Of course they're comfortable there.

I think their latest album, Keep Me Fed, is the most consistently heavy yet. Still not really metal (though one track, "Sharks," does dip into nu-metal territory) but even the least heavy song on the album, "Escapism," has some heavier parts. The opening track, "Six Feet Deep," also has some pretty heavy riffs but at the same time has some of the softer stuff on the album with how Dany sings it. I don't see them doing harsh vocals any time soon. Pau does scream a bit in "Apologize" though.

Regarding Paulina's (Pau) way of playing she explained in another show in her interview her way of setting up the drums, which is adjusted and meticulously measured for her size so that it is easy to set up between shows, without suffering too much in the preparation. Only partially... in Keep Me Fed there are lines much more powerful than in previous albums, in general of very short duration (the outro of Automatic Sun, the instrumental part on Escapism... maybe Sharks is the exception because it could almost be considered nu-metal-ish), and from what they say I think that's where the next works will go: a mixture, with a rock foundation but incorporating here and there pop, hard and metal sensibilities. I don't think they particularly like it as listeners either... so hopefully 😁 PS: Pol'and'Rock performance >>>>>>>> Wacken.

Just found your channel and subbed ❤ love these ladies and your reaction! If you haven’t already, you should definitely check out “Queen of the Murder Scene” live at Teatro Metropolitan, one of my faves and heavier than this one! Also, “Automatic Sun” live at Tecate

IMHO, the PolandRock festival show is MUCH better than Wacken. Wacken's sound mix is sub-par, but the Poland's show audio mix and stage effects are a whole lot better.

The Warning is not metal although they incorporate some aspects of the genre. Screaming when the lyric or emotion does not demand it, is not classy. Many death, thrash and metal bands tend to overdo screams and have turned it into a non-sensical act. I especially hate when they scream and cant even make out wth they're saying throughout the whole track

Black Sabbath makes that screaming look like the nonsense it is. The Gods of Metal are real musicians, as are the Warning.

It's just a different sound. If you don't like it, don't listen, but please don't call it shite. The Warning is my favorite rock band, but my favorite metal band isn't one of the classic bands I grew up with. I'm a 57 year old metalhead who has fallen in love with progressive metal. Just saw Jinjer a few months ago and I adore them. Ukrainian band with a female lead. Like The Warning they mix different genres into their music, along with incredibly odd time signatures that just work. Their lead singer, Tatiana (Tati), blends melodic verses with deep growls that go lower than many men in the scene. Like The Warning, every note has a purpose. Metal has changed, which is good, because metal was always about pushing boundaries. Nothing but love. ❤️⚡🤘

I appreciate that i am 60 i grew up with all the original godfathers of rock/metal i have been a metal fan since i was 15 and heard seen everything from queen to bojovi to nightwish the warning is the first band o have seen that as made me think YES rock/ metal has a future for the past 2 decades i have seen these so-called ( metal) bands slowly grind desecrate metal true sound artistry to a noise smash scream until there's nothing left of metal music it has had its heart and soul ripped out

I would skip Wacken which was poorly produced. Go to Pol’and’Rock concert. Some of the Warnings best produced live music!!
