More than having a toxic fanbase, Ronnie Radke just comes across as a toxic person in general, and he's been like this for years too. I remember years ago he booted a bunch of people out of a show for wearing t shirts of a band he either had beef with or had just kicked off the tour. The man is a textbook example of stunted growth.

Progressive Imagine Dragons is honestly the most accurate description for Sleep Token. When checking out their discography, I honestly thought that they sounded like what would happen if Imagine Dragons became a Djent band. It’s refreshing though to see level-headed Sleep Token fans in this comment section because your Take Me Back to Eden review has lots of Sleep Token fans posting cringy insults.

The thing with Godsmack's fanbase is that the vast majority of people apart of it pretty much unanimously agree that those first three albums is where they peaked in quality, So you're not going to get much pushback for criticizing the rest of their discography. (Though I like every album to a certain extent) They are also not nearly as prominent online in comparison to bands like Slipknot and Linkin Park. I've run into a few die-hards on occasion but they're very few and far between. I'd even argue that Puddle Of Mudd has a more die-hard fanbase online than Godsmack do, As weird as that sounds lol

As a longtime Babymetal fan, I can say we used to be worse when they started to make waves internationally, because we were constantly trying to defend them from hate and eventually became over-sensitive and reactionary to any form of criticism. The fanbase also includes idol fans, so you also get the kind of obsessive fans you’d expect for a K-pop boyband or something like that, who can be pretty obnoxious and sometimes borderline creepy.

Sleep Token are basically a boy band who can write progressive rock and metal music. They refuse to reveal their identity to give themselves a sense of mystique, but we know they are record producers. On top of it, it sounds like they're ripping off Breaking Benjamin, Meshuggah, BMTH, Architects, Death, Opeth, Slipknot, Korn and slapping RnB lullabies over it. And people treat them as something special, when I'd happily prefer to see an underground act, who may be poor at their instruments, but provide 100x more entertainment and enjoyment. Heck, give me Alestrom or Sabaton.

I'm a Metallica stan but the new album is pretty much a B. There's great riffs and basswork and even some decent drumwork but outside of the solo on There's No Light i felt Kirk phoned it in. Then there's a handful of songs they could have removed like Sleepwalk, Burn, Darkness, Crown etc and trim Inamorta down by like 4 minutes, and a handful of the other songs by like 30 seconds to a minute and it would have actually been a solid album. But that's been Metallica's biggest problem since ReLoad: they don't cut enough of the fat off their songs. 72 could've been very good with just some editing. But that's my 2.

Thought I was the only other person who thought that same issue too. Feel like Metallica has/had the capability to make some more banger records if they just cut some of the bloat from their albums. Really is unfortunate when you think about it since they clearly had talent, but unfortunately got too lazy to edit imo.
@cctkid86
@cctkid86 Жыл бұрын
@@doomguyrox1156 Part of it is the producer's job. To tell the band "hey this needs to be trimmed" or "this solo sucks" or w.e needs to be said. But either: A) they hired producers that won't speak up cuz it's Metallica (Rick Rubin produced DM so I doubt he would have issue but he still let some tracks linger too long) or B) they just don't care what the producers have to say. I personally think it's a little of both, since I know Lars is most involved with the editing process and we know how he is. Either way, we know when songs are tight they are great. Hardwired had numerous bangers on it. 72 needed trimming and honest feedback.

Not only do I think Varg fans are unhinged, I think Varg himself is unhinged. In my opinion, Varg is one of the main reasons why black metal has the horrid reputation it has. Church burnings, blatant neo-nazi idealogies, not to mention LITERAL MURDER. When I was first getting into black metal, I was terrified to get deeper into the scene because of the reputation it has because of people like Varg. I think that Burzum is influential. Influential in the way that Varg influenced the public perception of black metal. Because of that, I truly hate Varg for ruining black metal for so many people. His antics genuinly put me off of getting into what is now my favorite subgenre of metal. Fortunately I have found so many bands that are not horrid people.

I used to consider myself a Metallica fanboy until I saw how actual fanboys act. Disgraceful. Also idk why they refuse to admit 72 seasons was bland AF. It feels like they have an inferiority complex whenever someone mentions that something they've put out is not that good, but like I understand more if someone chose to defend Death Magnetic like that but 72 Seasons of all albums?

Most of this is pretty on point. On the other hand, Varg Vikernes hasn't made a metal album in over ten years, practically denounced metal, but continues to live rent free in the heads of metal critics forever.

I love Metallica, but their age has caught up. 72 Seasons was thrash-by-numbers. And when you said even their bad albums were a subject of debate, that's true because I remember what St Anger sounds like. I'm struggling to remember a hook or riff from 72 Seasons despite listening to it many times. They're past their creative prime.

You have the least worst overall taste/takes of the dedicated metal channels I’ve seen, so it’s much easier to just agree to disagree when it comes up. Most are either Metal Archives-level elitists or Loudwire-level trendies. You just kinda go with what you like and don’t worry about disliking things because they’re popular while also definitely having one foot firmly entrenched in the underground. I know I’ll never really agree with you on things like your dislike for doom/doomy death metal, but I can accept that.

I'm going to be comepletely honest about Sleep Token. I think what they are doing was done years ago. By bands like Attack Attack, old Falling in Reverse, and ETIENNE SIN! I got more enjoyment out of Stick Stickly and Remember than The Summoning. They are not very original, and I'm so tired of hearing about them to be comepletely honest.

I said this on the cringe video, but I’ll say it again. I commented on a Slayer Facebook thread saying that all members and to an extent Kerry were a big influence or something like that. First, some guy commented saying, “I’m just here for the comments”. That was a red flag I ignored. I looked back an hour or two later, and everyone was blasting. Example: “TOO AN EXTENT KERRY?! KERRY IS SLAYER!”. I felt so bad that I deleted the thread and pretended that never even happened.

On the subject of FIR: I'll be the first to admit Eddie Trunk is not god's gift to metal journalism, but everyone that sided against him over the FIR laptop scandal owes Eddie Trunk a big fat ass-kissing apology, because that blacklash-Striesand whatever was a big reason FIR and consequently Bonnie Radke blew up. Is Eddie Trunk right 100% of the time? No. But this was one of those times where old was better than new and fuck everyone who went against Eddie just because they hated That Metal Show.
