Man, I will never understand Mike's dislike for 80s Sabbath. Heaven and Hell and Mob Rules fuck hard. (Title tracks, Die Young, Lonely is the word, children of the sea, sign of the southern cross.) Born Again is also awesome imo (yeah, yeah. PrOdUCtion BaD). Dio's solo stuff in the 80s is pretty great too. Holy Diver and Last in Line have some bangers (Egypt is almost like a maiden track). Dream Evil is also underrated. Also also, Judas Priest? Come on man lol. Though I agree their 80s output is hit or miss, but Defenders and Screaming are top fuckin' tier.

I like Motorhead, but get that they can be repetitive and aren't for everyone. I think the reason Lemmy is so loved is because of his personality that goes way beyond what is described here. Also something I hear a lot is someone explained as say your favorite guitarist, favorite guitarist. That's Lemmy, name your favorite rock star and chances are he is their favorite rock star. He was loved by nearly everyone in his community and seems like a down to earth, good guy.
@uneedborda8 ай бұрын
@@Principaledpragmatist sure, but this is a "band tier list", not one based on personality. Again, Motorhead has a successful crossover going all the way back from the mid-seventies after his previous bad Hawk Wind. So it's about the music and how influential it was on two opposed genres back in the 70s/80s, which was Heavy Metal vs Punk. And that is why Motorhead is so influential, the personality was more focused on later.

Shocked at the high placement of '80's Ozzy. By the mid-80s Ozzy was a total mess again, and he was turned down by the late (and great) Gary Moore as the first choice replacement for the late Randy Rhoads. If you put Manowar into S-tier then '80s Sabbath needs to be moved up because some of them were '80s Sabbath roadies. Tony Martin-era Sabbath has also got remaster coming out soon, so worth another look. '80s Metallica should likely be moved down a notch because they changed their sound and became a big band in the '90s.

Dokken is absolutely my favourite band to come out of the 80s, George Lynch is so underrated

Def Leppard and Manowar above Megadeth? What in the hell?

Slayer was Death before Death existed? Death was a progressive type sound. Slayer’s first albums were only about a half hour long. Death was ruled by lead guitar. Slayer was thrash and was mostly rhythm guitar. It’s apples vs. oranges.

I was ready to hate you until you gave Manowar their just placing. Now I am your brother in metal

Glad Bon Jovi got a good rating. I 100% get why people hate them. But there are too many songs that will get stuck in your head to just write off because they're not objectively bad in any sense. Plus they have a decent variety in their catalog over time. And no, Richie Sambora doesn't get anywhere near enough credit, he's a good song writer and great with the guitar.

Imagine putting Bon Jovi under 80s metal tier list but not Accept or Queensryche 😮

You did not just say that about Megadeth (especially KIMBABIG, Peace Sells, and Rust in Peace) and Slayer. I’m offended lmao but for real I understand, you either love them or you hate them.

Where are Accept, Queensryche, Saxon, Helloween, WASP and Candlemass? And Def Leppard, Bon Jovi and Guns N' Roses are not metal.

M-head was the first speed metal, no? That’s something.

Sorry Mike, but I’m gonna have to disagree with your take on 80s Black Sabbath to a certain extent. Around the time Ozzy left, the band was not in a good place and their last two albums left a lot to be desired. When Dio came in, he breathed new life into the band and evolved their sound with the Heaven and Hell album, which the title track of that album is probably in my top 3 favorite Sabbath songs. I also think that Tony really got to show off his chops as a lead player. I’m not saying you have to like it, but it was a very clear evolution of sound from the 70s. I will say Born Again, the album after Dio left, is almost as bad as it’s album art and a lot of the other albums released in 80s range from mid to bad and had piss production, so I’ll give you that.

surprised he didn't like gnr's deep cuts. I feel like some of the deep cuts on use your illusion are some of the best songs in gnr's whole catalogue and have some of the best guitar work. their deep cuts help push them to A tier for me above Bon Jovi and Motley Crue

I gotta admit, I was confused when I spotted that ICP photo in the mix, until I realized you were using it to illustrate the point that Kiss is essentially just a posse of insane clowns. 😂😂😂
