The gracies just can't let it go. How many more times will they want to "get back at Sakuraba" for beating all of them back in Pride? It's just cheap and desperate to go challenge him now that he's old and completely shot worn.

@@badtrekee4348 I don't know where you get your information bro. Sakuraba did not learn BJJ. He was an amateur wrestler later became pro wrestler. He was later taught Catch Wrestling which had joint locks, holds and chokes by the great Billy Robinson. Catch as Catch Can (Catch Wrestling) originated somewhere around the 1800s at the least. By this time Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu did not exist let alone Judo where it originated from. Get your facts straight next time. 😂

Gracie has aged super well. I'd say he could pass for being 35-38. Sakuraba on the other hand wasn't so lucky. On the other hand though, I think Sakuraba wore himself out alot more by fighting five years on past his prime with injuries. Plus Saku apparently drinks and smokes alot, so adding that on top of everything else doesn't help. He's 45, but he's looking closer to 55.

I respect the Gracie family a lot but at this point, they are a bunch of salty guys who can't accept that Sakuraba beat them all in Pride. The guy couldn't even stand properly now. Sakuraba beat you fair and square and you can't get back to him now. You tried to get back the first lose and then lose again and again at your prime. This is one thing I hate about them. The same thing happened with Eddie Bravo. Eddie had a lot of respect for them but Gracie didn't even give him credit in the first match. Blame it on luck like every dog has its day. Gracie gave him credit long after the 2nd match lost. They still can't admit Sakuraba was better than them and best them fair and square by dominating them on the ground.

@HeartlessAndEmpty10 жыл бұрын
Metamoris is a grappling event. The time limit is one twenty minute round. The first submission wins, if there is no submission after 20 minutes it is a draw with no winner. However, most draws fall into the court of public opinion where a winner is usually unofficially proclaimed. Eddive Bravo VS Royler Gracie 2 at Metamoris 3 is a good example. There are no points for anything other than a submission to avoid BS victories. It's a unique event in that respect.

News flash "Jesus" if you have to precede anything you say with "I'm not hating" you're transparently hating. Regarding the stepping on the fighter, if you're talking about Ben Spijkers, even though Renzo shouldn't have done it, it was an understandable sign of his contempt for Spijkers. Spijkers is known to be an awful person in the world of Judo regarding his personality, demeanor and conduct and he was true to form the night before the fight when he and his friends harassed Renzo continuously the night before and prior to the fight. Spijkers said some pretty outrageous things to Renzo before the fight including things about Renzo's wife. There are some places you just don't go...ever. At some point in one's life their stupidity catches up with them. For Spijkers it culminated in his arrest as he was handcuffed and hauled off the plane home after the fight for allegedly assaulting an airline stewardess. Renzo has mellowed out considerably since then. With age comes wisdom. His speech after his loss to Sakuraba commending Sakuraba as one of the new contemporary innovators of MMA cemented that fact. No other Gracie would have done that in the same situation. As far as giving credit to the Gracie's Japanese Jiu Jitsu instructor, Mitsuyo Maeda's contribution is openly acknowledged in great detail in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu: Theory and Technique by Renzo Gracie, Royer Gracie and John Danaher. You would be well served in educating yourself about the extent to which Renzo credited Maeda in that book. If nothing else, the book is a valuable resource because of the text regarding the history and evolution of jiu jitsu by Maeda and the Gracies and the evolution of MMA general. Renzo is one of the early pioneers of MMA regardless of what you may think. His legacy includes students like John Danaher, widely acknowledged as one of the best MMA trainers in the entire world and grappling trainer of former UFC champion Georges St. Pierre and trainer of current UFC champion Chris Weidman. If you actually train in MMA and are ever in NYC I recommend that you visit his academy and take a few classes with the man. He is very likeable and an excellent instructor.

Even though both Saku and Renzo are old and past their prime, Sakuraba's body is way more damaged. True, Renzo got his arm thrashed by Saku that one time but overall, Sakuraba took ridiculous punishment with Wanderlei 3x, orbital smash with CroCop, broken face &nose, skull contusions via Ricardo Arona, body slammed repeatedly by Rampage Jackson and an endless list of game fighters. Newton, Conan, Igor all tough fights. This weakened version of Sakuraba will be defeated by Renzo. It's like watching Ali fight Larry Holmes.

If I remember correctly, Saku also had a large chunk of his ear torn off during a fight. It was probably in one of those matches post PRIDE era, where he should've already retired. Also the fight with the beast of a man. Melvin Manhoef? Sigh. Sakuraba was the reason I came to know about MMA, when he earned the nickname "Gracie Hunter". I was hooked and did research from that moment on. All that said, how can anyone NOT love Renzo. He's the man. You should watch his recent "in-studio" appearance on the MMA Hour.
