Methi Leaves - 1 Bunch

To Make Tadka
Ghee - 2 Tbsp (Buy: amzn.to/2RBvKxw)
Cumin Seeds - 1/2 Tsp (Buy: amzn.to/2NTgTMv)
Red Chillies - 2 Nos (Buy: amzn.to/37DAVT1)
Red Chilli Powder - 1/4 Tsp (Buy: amzn.to/3b4yHyg)
Coriander Leaves
METHOD:
1. Take toor dal, chana dal and moong dal in a large bowl.
2. Wash and soak the dals in water for 30 mins.
3. Transfer the soaked dals to a pressure cooker and add turmeric powder, salt. Add water and pressure cook for 4-5 whistles on a medium flame.
4. Take a wide kadai and add ghee. Add cumin seeds and hing.
5.Add chopped garlic, ginger and green chillies. Saute for a few seconds. Add the chopped onions and saute for 4 mins.
6. Add chilli powder and cumin powder. Mix well.
7. Add tomatoes, salt and mix well.
8. Add finely chopped methi leaves, mix and add water. Cook for 3 mins.
9. Add cooked dal, water. Cover and cook for 10 mins on medium low flame.
10 Lastly add garam masala powder. Mix well. Add coriander leaves, mix and keep the kadai aside.
11. For the tadka, take ghee in a tempering pan.
12. Add cumin seeds, red chillies, red chilli powder and coriander leaves. Saute.
13. Once done, transfer the tempering to the dal and mix well.
14. Methi Dal Tadka is ready to be served.
Methi/Fenugreek leaves are rich in nutrition and it is important that we consume them regularly for a healthy body. You can make rotis/rice and different gravy curries with it. But here is a simple recipe wherein you can add the methi leaves to a North Indian style dal tadka and enjoy it with jeera rice/phulka/chapathi. This is a great lunch box recipe and you can make it for special get togethers too. Make sure you get some fresh and tender methi leaves from the market because bigger the leaves are, bitter their taste will be.
