Dude...The Mets need to pursue Pablo Lopez with the Twins and unload the likes of Betty, others. This solidifies the rotation!!
@billkarim97155 күн бұрын
I don't think they *need* to necessarily, but honestly he's at least as intriguing as Castillo as a trade target. I do agree that we *need* to unload Baty this winter though
@dashx11035 күн бұрын
Yep. I hate Betty. She is the worst. Such a b-word.
@fr2ncm95 күн бұрын
@@billkarim9715 Baty still has too much potential upside. At the least he is a utility man with above-average power. Good utility players can cost up to 6 million(Thommy Edman anyone). He has always hit well in the minors. in 2023 he was basically promoted to the big leagues from AA. This past season, he had only 50 games to prove himself. He hit 276 on the road and 184 at home. He still deserves a shot.
@BKDBut5 күн бұрын
@@fr2ncm9I completely disagree. And in 2023 I was fighting basically all Mets fans saying Vientos is legit and needs to play The fact that Baty crushes AAA and is so weak in MLB is a bad sign. It shows he's not just slumping. He will be doing nothing in MLB, go to AAA and hit 3 HRs his 2nd game. He'll be hitting 340 in AAA, come to MLB, hit 150 with 1 homer in 100 ABs
@fr2ncm95 күн бұрын
He was"weak" in 2023. He had very little opportunity to prove himself in 2024. 50 games? Some Mets fans are saying we should that Acunua belongs on the team based on only 26 MLB games.

I can’t be the only one that’s really concerned about Senga’s ability to stay healthy for the season. I’d feel a lot better if we had one more pitcher that could serve as a 2 or 3.

I just want Pete. Not that enthused about Bregman. He’s plan B for me.
@michalaleskandr39855 күн бұрын
That would be nice... but we need that and a better rotation mate, too. Even with Senga! It would be all for nothing without more security in the pen or a better established overall rotation. We need to have the capacity to go long... because when we see the Dodgers again, which will happen, we can't get blown out like last time. Because even with the games we won, we gave up a lot of runs!

Sasaki
@dashx11035 күн бұрын
@@michalaleskandr3985 But, in fairness, the Dodgers are a historically strong offensive team. And, note, the Dodgers rotation was in somewhat disarray as they made that championship run. So, it isn't like they were throwing out Koufax and Drysdale night after night. I like the potential of this rotation as it stands, and I like the depth. I think the Mets are positioned now where they, if it makes sense, can swing a trade-deadline deal to bolster the rotation. I will be surprised if the Mets pursue other starting pitching now, other than Sasaki. And I will be okay with that if the Mets do two other things: 1) fill out the lineup, and for me that means Alonso (and probably Winker -- a LHB to complement Marte); and 2) bolster the bullpen (I like Diaz on a huge bounce-back season, I love Nunez as a set up option, and I like Garrett in the middle -- beyond that there is work to be done).

@Mets'd Up Podcast. Jaysus. Manaea's last 10 starts needed a .191 BABIP just get him a 3.79 ERA, 4.05 FIP, 4.08 SIERA. Maddux's BABIP his four Cy Young seasons was .260. Kershaw, career, .274 iirc. ---Manaea was incredibly lucky, in short, fluking his way to a 3.51 ERA and 3.98 FIP since the AS break. A .191 BABIP across 10 starts might be an historical record---the best I could find for Doggie as .221. Manaea also put up a 4.04 ERA his last 14 starts of the year, 10 regular season and 4 postseason games. That's some 'breakthrough.' Last 5 regular season starts? 4.06 ERA, 4.30 FIP. 4.74 ERA in the 2024 postseason. And he's somehow a big game pitcher?? Do the homework, gentlemen---THEN do the broadcast.

Hows this too much lol? Have you not been paying attention to this pitching market? Kikuchi got $21M, sevy $22, an older player in eovaldi got the same Manaea deal. If anything, manaea prob took lesser years and money to stay in new york. Yall need to compare the deals based on current markets, not what YOU personally feel is an overpay. Once kikuchi got the 3/63 the market was kind of set from there.
