Traveling to Mexico City? You MUST go to the "floating gardens" of Xochimilco and this is why....
❁❁Please subscribe❁❁www.youtube.co...
Mexico City is one of my favorite places in all of Mexico to visit. There is NO shortage of things to do in CDMX and perhaps the most fun thing of all is Xochimilco!!
And what exactly is Xochimilco? It is a prehispanic network of canals that used to be used for transporting goods. Now, it's a spot for both Mexicans and tourists alike to have a good time on the colorful, flat-bottom wooden boats called trajineras. (These are similar to gondolas in Italy, although very distinct in their own ways.)
It costs about 500 pesos per hour for as many people fit on the boat. Your captain will push you down the canals using a long wooden stick and make stops at various islands if you wish to grab a snack, use the bathroom, or get up and dance like our group did! It's an all-around fantastic time. If you're in Mexico City, be sure to visit Xochimilco!!

I had great fun watching this video! I don't comment much but know that I am one of you biggest fans, albeit silent most of the time. Just wanted to say HI and to keep up the great work. (WOO HOO ♀girl/woman power!) I've never missed one of your videos, the old ones AND the new ones, and never plan to. I admire your strength. TRUE strength is the ability to show a full range of emotions and get back up in the morning and put one foot in front of the other.🚶‍♀ And YOU Maddie, do it with grace. Thank you.

Wow 😯 I’m from Mexico City and you should mention that it is freaking dangerous to jump in to the water just like that guy did it. A lot of people have died by doing that! It’s full of vegetation, mud, etc and been under the influence of the alcohol doesn’t help either. That’s just my two cents. Be careful out there 😉

Dude, you can die if you get in the water. Don´t do that. People have drown there like, every local knows that. We have to be resposible while having fun in Xochimilco. It is very easy to get trapped by the algae and once it traps you...well, say your prayers. It's a lot of fun but I think many tourists need to know about the real risks and party responsibly, because I believe many are starting to treat Xochimilco like a springbreak kind of situation, and Cuemanco specially is a protected natural spot.

I'm sorry to say this but I need to. I've been to Xochimilco and I felt a very spiritual almost reverent energy there. I felt fortunate to experience being on the boat as it floated and knowing the historical significance of those causeway made it special. Those places deserve respect. I love you Maddie and I really admire you to no end keep up your beautiful spirit but let God guide you on your travels. People can drink and party at other places but I truly believe Xochimilco should not be the place.

Hi Maddie. Cuemanco is, by far, the best embarcadero. I remember when a was child, the names and decoration of trajineras, was made entirely from fresh flowers. It is a shame that it is lost. Greetings from Toluca.

I went to Tzintzutzan for Dia De Muertos last year and it was *everything.* It’s in the process of getting bigger and bigger so the time to go there is now. It’s a pueblo magico and it will be 10x the experience that Oaxaca or cdmx is.

I think I'm about 25-30 years too old for those kind of shenanigans! Looked like everyone was having a good time though! My first instinct for Dia de Los Muertos was Mexico City as I envisioned a more massive over-the-top celebration. After extensive research however (ok, it was 5 minutes of KZbin searches), I now prefer Guanajuato. It just seems a little more intimate and atmospheric and I think it would have better opportunities to get up close.

I am from Mexico but I lived last 40 + years in the US. You would think that CDMX would take care of tourist areas like Xóchimilco much better by providing decent clean facilities such as a WC. Just went to Mexico city and this is one place I avoid. Basically anywhere you go it’s the same situation. One exception with a lot of but’s is the airplane but that’s my country and it sucks at it.
