Hi Lance...Its great to see someone else using permatex. My brother was a loctite gasket fan until we did an old 35 sump with it, that leaked all over the place. Fitted the sump back with No2 permatex, the non hardening one, and thats all we use where there is a chance of oil leaking. Its never let me down in all my time at sea and its perfect for these old machines too.Sticks like the proverbial to a blanket.

It is good stuff for sure, I use both depending on what I need, horses for courses so to speak.

Damn Lance! I can’t keep up with all these videos! You’re going great guns. I see a Christmas binge of Bundy Bears Shed coming up. Better than most of the other stuff available. 😉 Oh my that’s one helluva sump!

Really enjoying these videos. Bearing in mind that it's been thirty one years since I laid a spanner on a tractor, lots of what you're doing, I'm going along with you. If that makes sense. (I worked for a MF agent in the UK. From leaving school, 76 to 87) Regarding the sump seals, I seem to remember front one being cork and the back one being black in colour (can't remember what it was made of though). But maybe original part or now superseded. Amazing what you can keep in your head from so long ago, but these days, put something down for five minutes it's lost. ATB.

Im the same with old David Browns etc. Forget all about it until the need arises then it is suprising how much is retained.

Gday Lance This whole series you have been putting grease on gaskets. Now you are using aviation glue. What is your rule of thumb for using these different products. Cheers Ian from Markwood

If there is a chance of removing it to check something I use grease, on the larger gaskets I often use aviation as it seems to hold them in place better, I dont have any strict rule though.

Hello sir. I have a Massey 50 with the gas z134. Cracked between all the sleeves in the coolant compartment. I also have a old welder with a Perkins D3.152 I was wondering what adapters I’d have to purchase to make it work or is it even possible? I see for sale an adapter plate for the flywheel housing to bolt to the transmission. Is the only other thing I need a used sump cover from a tractor version AG3.152 for the front suspension mounting bolts?
@BundyBearsShed4 жыл бұрын
I would think a front axle bolster, sump and adapter plate as they were brought out new with that.

Another 135 video! You're a legend. Quick question for you, Lance. What do you do with the fuel tanks? I have mine off my 135 at the moment, to clean out the rust as best I can. Sand blast? Pressure wash? Handful of bolts and shake it around? Secondly do you put any type of sealant product in the tank afterwards? Thanks

I pressure clean and put a piece of chain in to rattle around and hopefully loosen any scale. Then I use Redkote tank sealer. It seems to be really good stuff.

G’day mate I bet that sump was heavy it gave me a pain just watching you lift it. Lance there is an issue with the audio it’s fading in and out and is sometimes muffled , apart from that good vid regards John.

G day John, I find the slightest breeze and the sound on the Nikon is shit. I do have some sound gear on the way to hopefully have the good pic of the Nikon and a separate sound track. I often don't know how bad it is until after the job is done and I get to editing.

Hate to say it Lance, but that camera needs to go. Any improvement in the video is wiped out by the audio. Think you said your other camera had a jack for an external mic. Maybe talk with the store you got it from and see what they can do?

Finding it is very wind sensitive, new gear on its way just not for this weekends filming.
