MF30 Massey Ferguson Industrial Loader Tractor; Fuel Issues / First Cuts

Getting the MF30E off the trailer. Performing additional tests and finding more fuel related issues. In this video we remove and replace the fuel tank valve and the fuel line. After removing the petcock fuel valve I noticed it was missing the strainer. A new strainer was purchased along with a standard fuel line. The tractor arrived with a brake line in place of the fuel line. I believe it may have worked just fine 'as is' but the tank needed cleaned out and the valve needed a strainer. I was able to find direct replacement components from Yesterday's Tractor. The parts were a direct bolt in and worked great! Not to mention it was just as cheap if not cheaper than some cobbled together fitting and adapter setup I could make in house. I believe the valve with the nee line came in around $20 total.

Can’t wait to use my 30b I finally got it to run on its own and then my fuel bowl shattered lol but I took your advice and cleaned my tank before I even ran it and my petcock was plugged up as well. All I’m missing is the mini backhoe attachment lol

Would you buy a 1973 MF20 that has not run in a year, owner says it ran, but battery died and that's hasn't been able to start it this year. He's asking $500.00 with loader. Three point doesn't work and power steering is not working. Thoughts?

Hi Kay! It's really hard to tell without looking at it. Use your gut instinct. If you think it can be repaired without many expensive parts then it could be a worthwhile deal. If you are skeptical I wouldn't pay more than scrap steel prices for it ~0.095 cents a pound on my last trip to the shredder. Tires are a huge expense check those over good, check all the fluids and at a minimum try to turn the motor over to make sure it isn't locked. Oh and check the intake for water. Water in the engine and or oil and I would consider it scrap. Thanks for watching and happy tractor hunting! 👍😁

Great video...your tractor has some issues. I just bought one with a bucket on front and a Gannon on back for grading. Looking to get the backhoe attachment for the back later on. I have no issues with my fuel line at this point, but my brakes have no pressure in them at all. Probably both Master Break Cylinders are shot, but I find it hard to believe both MBS would go out at the same time? Any advice on trouble shooting them before I spend $260 for two MBS? I'm not a certified mechanic, but I'm very skilled with manual labor, mechanics, etc. I own a woodshop so I'm pretty detail orientated.

Thanks! I purchased this tractor as a dead horse in August. I was excited to get her going without major engine repair. In a separate video I try to illustrate how to repair the braking system (it's very tight confines under the floor board). Both master cylinders were shot on mine. The mounted angle encourages dirt, moisture, etc to leak into the piston bore. If the boot becomes damaged at all the master cylinders will fill with junk. I would replace both master cylinders. I purchased aftermarket units for $25 each from an English car restoration site. Same exact unit, but a fraction of the price of one purchased from a tractor dealership. I just reviewed the service manual for my tractor. It looks like the radiator might need to be removed. I'm skeptical, but I cannot look at my tractor for reference now. Best of luck on the repair. Thanks for watching! 👍😁

Thanks for posting !! I have an immaculate MF30 with MF30A loader and grade box w/ hydraulic rippers.. it’s has 2,065 hours it ran like new until someone used it w/o permission and I think bent a valve due to water in the diesel. As you know, they are built to last. You’ll get a ton of work out of yours👷🏽‍♀️what engine do you have ? Mine has a 3 cylinder Perkins.. great little engine !

@@FlatThunder LoL ... I bought mine from a guy who owned a lumber yard so it was only used for loading a few buckets of rock into a pick up. The only words I have for the clown who damaged my tractor would put me in jail so u I’ll remain silent.. yours is in great shape and operates great ! The steel on these old Massy’s is tough, not like the new age tractors of today.. I’m told their in demand because their easy to work on, no computers. My only drawback with mine is because of the Transmission I have no PTO Spline to use with farm implements like brush hog mowers ..

@@GreenbrokePete it sounds like a nice lightly used unit! I wouldn't swear to it, but I think the rear ends are common. Ie I think the internals are the same on units without a pto, and the drive could be added? Big maybe? I too think old steel is better than the newer units. I rented a 3030 Kubota in the past and the three point lift arm adjustment was broken and made of pot metal 🤔 Cheers,
