i absolutely adore how theyve handled the leitmotif of seliana in here, the day theme was refreshing, calm and adventurous, where as the night theme is cheerful and cozy, hunters go out and explore the hinterlands at day, return to Seliana to celebrate and rest at night, these two themes really work together to accentuate the homeliness of Seliana.

I’ve heard this theme hundreds of times since my time with iceborne ended but even now it still brings tears to my eyes. If I could erase my time and memories with any game just to do it all again for the first time it’s be this one. It’s just a magical experience unlike anything I’ve ever played. Even among other mh games this one stands out for that reason. It’s the only one that got me past the 200 hour mark and it kept going and going and going until before I knew it it’d been 4 years and 2000 hours of what I would soon realize was the best game I’ve ever played. Thank you Capcom for doing such a spectacular job making this game

On one their previous interview, they said the Seliana will have the more upbeat theme at night because "the town is more active at that time of day". They probably thought about the Hunters being out hunting during the day time and they are feasting/celebrating at night.

That’s what I thought originally but then I realized something. In the day Hunters are away hunting down things and at night when they come back there are celebratory parties thrown. The music reflects that.

I was reluctant to buy Iceborne before I hunt at least one AT Elder without it, but after my friend finally talked me into it and I've spent first minute in Seliana I know, I can't go back to Astera :D It wasn't long until I completed every quest in base game (made easier with some basic MR gear from IB) and I no longer have reason to go back there, and that's good!

I think the reason they did this is because the day theme is already slow and relaxed so instead they decided to make two distinct versions based on the same base theme. They’re clearly both variations on a theme though
