This Is Rough To Watch | Miami Boat Ramps | Black Point Marina
Welcome to the Miami Boat Ramps channel. We are dedicated to bringing you all the craziness that goes on at the boat ramps in South Florida! Sit back and enjoy the show!
Ramps we currently cover: 79st (La 79!) / Black Point Marina / Haulover
We are working on adding 2 more ramps to the roster. Stay tuned!
Don't forget to hit the like button, subscribe and leave us a comment. If you don't, we're coming to steal your drain plug!
Also be sure to check out our other channels

Disclaimer : We receive a ton of emails and messages from people telling us we filmed them at the ramp this past weekend and they want to know when the video will air. This is not a question we can typically answer. We film from three or more ramps every week and have a massive back log of content and sometime it could be weeks or months after an event occurs before we air the video. We put stuff out as fast as we can but we only air three videos a week and in a typical weekend get 6-10 episodes worth of content meaning we get content faster then we can air it. Thanks for watching and just be sure to keep watching looking for your content it will air but probably not immediately after it happens!

With high waves after a western storm we, monohull sailors would always wait for the catamaransailors, especially the Hobycat sailors with more money than brains, to bury their boats into the banks and break the mast… these masts were great for the ice- and beach sailing thingies… never a dull moment…😂😂😂😂

When I was about 8 or 9 years old, my Dad and I built a sail boat. Once while out on a lake the water became very choppy. Once we arrived at the dock there was a very nice boat already there. We docked behind it while another very nice boat docked behind us. My Dad had to leave to get the van. My Dad looked at me said “hold on to these two ropes and no matter what don’t let our boat hit the other ones”. I held on to those ropes with all my might. The water was so choppy and the other boats were bobbing. Finally my Dad came back and was so proud and thankful. It is a good core memory.❤️ This was back in the early 80’s. So it was legal..lol

Man, I watch this channel every day. And this had to be the most heart-stopping episode. I had something like this happen to me. I mean I didn't jump off my boat. But having people on your vessel that have no clue what they are doing is dangerous. It's our responsibility to teach them the basics and explain what we need them to do when that time comes. Learned my lesson as I'm sure this guy did. Gel coat is not a cheap fix.

The other thing to do is practice docking at all states of the tide and wind. It's no use just dropping the boat in going for a ride and coming back, where is the skill set going to be learnt.

that is exactly what my wife and I did years ago with our first boat! we practiced launching the boat and putting it back on the trailer with no one around. the only trouble i have now with our newer boat is that the dock where we keep it, is super shallow! MUCH more difficult to dock it when windy, with the prop up.... but teamwork, slow and steady, and practice, is a big help!!!

I set up lines at the ready on both sides and use Docking Sticks. If you Docking Sticks all you have to do is get within 8-10 feet of the dock and you're good. I was better at docking the boat as well as getting it up onto the boat trailer than my husband no matter how choppy or windy it was. I still had bumpers placed on the cleats just in case on the side against the dock. I wasn’t good at backing the trailer down the long ramp, so found out by chance that he was good at that and I was better at maneuvering around the dock and trailer. It’s a skill and some people are just better instinctively than others. My husband came in too fast and damaged the bow needing repairs so it became our usual task. No more time wasted getting the trailer positioned and no more dock crashes and multiple attempts at trailering the boat. We took friends out and didn’t understand that boats and cars don’t move the same way. Taking a USCG boating safety course provided us with valuable information and should be required.

That’s probably me lol. My first boat is a 25ft seahunt center console. Luckily we had about a 6 month wait while the boat was being built. During that time I’ve been watching these videos and how to’s to learn what to do and what not to do, honestly these docking videos are the most helpful. It’s interesting how much you can learn from learning what not to do. No major issues, I did clock the dock one day, we had a strong wind going the opposite direction as the current which was also strong. I thought the current would win so set it up that way but the wind won and pushed the dock. No real damage but it’s the only rash I’ve had so far. I’d like to think I’m decent enough but someone watching me probably cringes plenty.

Docking a small boat is so easy. Take the bow line and take a turn around ANY dock cleat or bollard. Take up slack and apply minimal forward thrust with motor turning steering away from dock. The stern slowly swings into dock. Secure stern and kill power. Then. WALK YOUR BOAT TO YOUR TRAILER and use your winch. Works every time.

Plus, they handle differently depending on tide and wind. I single handed a 30ft twin screw lump for years touring France, Belgium and Holland. The only place I would not single crew was across the English Channel. That was more to do with in case of an engine breakdown, the boat was built in 1930!!!!!

Here’s a hot tip Place your hand palm up at the bottom of the steering wheel, look in the rear view, turn the wheel in the direction you want the trailer to go. Slow vehicle, slow wheel. Small corrections.

There is a mechanism on Mercruiser I/O’s that will kill the ignition momentarily when attempting to shift out of drive or reverse. Without it the gears went to stay engaged and it becomes hard to shift it out of gear without shifting past the neutral point into the gear going the other way. I bought an older boat that had this issue and it was a bear to get it into neutral. Once I figured it out and replaced one faulty part, it worked like a charm. I know this is an Outboard but it reminded me of my old boat after I got it.

Hilarious! I saw a guy get tired of waiting his turn to get his boat out and decided to go to the off side of the ramp into the gravel and backed his trailer right over an underground bent railroad tie😂. Couldn't even lift it over the tie with five guys. Best afternoon ever spent on Puget Sound!

Omg that was so dangerous when the kid was trying to pull the rope in on the back of the boat. He also had his head out of the side of the boat as the captain was approaching the dock. Wow so lucky.

You should get that ramp to install a big digital sign like they do for road conditions and you be in charge of messages to boaters such as: Dont stand on back deck. Line in water etc.

I'm betting the banging around Sea Hunt is the old mans boat and the "Cap" is the son that does all the driving. No one would throw the line back and stand there watching any body mistreat his boat like that.

I ONLY take my 18’ CC out when the dock is nearly empty! I can dock by myself. But but when other boats are around. And people are watching. I just get close to the dock and toss the line. And pull it in myself. All the way. Till I can winch it.
