I use after cleansing because my skin breaks out from washing my face due to the hard water. I’ve been using the Micellar water as a toner and it gets all of the hard water stick from my skin. I’ve narrowed it down to this as the issue because my hair is terribly oily from hard water and I’ve tried everything every shampoo to do something about it and only works with this hard water shampoo

@@Midway2RealityASMR hard water was causing me serious problems. I started using sunflower oil as a buffer when I cleanse my face. And ditching all sulfates made the difference. I remove hard water residue after cleansing with a gentle toner with no cleaning agents. That pretty much cleared up the acne and stopped the inflammation. I wouldn’t use a balm because balms require a lot of cleansing to wash off.

Same. I use Micellar water to loosen up my makeup and sunscreen, then follow it up with a cleanser. I just rinse with water, I only wash my face with soap when I feel like it (usually if I wear makeup because if I dont like triple cleanse I get acne) This was a lot more gentle on my skin and completely changed it, now I can handle my acne medication without burning my face off and my acne has gone down completely since I can use my prescriptions right and my face isn't as reactive I'd guess it's because it keeps a lot of natural oils, I've tried gentle cleansers but I'd feel oily or would break out

That's dumb, sounds like you fell into some 'chemicals are bad' fallacy. The sufactant found in micellar water is the same one found in many Creams and lotions, it is completely fine to leave it on your face. Plus micellar water is popular in areas with hard water to remove the build ups, rinsing it off with water would just defeat the purpose

My face used to look dull. But later I achieved glowing skin, free from pimples and dark spots, by doing these things. -: 1. Drinking water at least 3 to 4 liters per day. 2. Having carrots or carrot juice daily. 3. Using Littlextra Ricebery face wash daily, which is derived from black rice water known for its superior skin benefits compared to regular white rice water. 4. Joining the gym and sweating a lot. 5. Giving Steam to my face or entire body once every 20 days.

I have rosacea. Using micellar water as the first step of a double cleanse significantly reduced my skin irritation and improved hydration for me. It really helps to break up foundation. If you just pour a little bit into your palm, you can apply it with your fingers. It's significantly less expensive to find a non-irritating, unfragranced micellar water than an oil cleanser and micellar water rinses off the skin with a single splash, as opposed to multiple rinses and finger massage required by oil cleansers.

I have been using it for years as a first step in double cleansing (before it was "a thing"). Personally I much prefer it to oils or balms, they are generally more expensive, either clog my pores or iritate my skin, often get in my eyes which is so annoying, I hate rubbing then on my face and it tends to take long to melt makeup. For me the only downside for micellar water is having to use cotton pads. My favoutites are the basic Garnier micellar water and the Bioderma one.

Hi unfortunately there is a lot of judgement about not following the "CGM" to the letter on some forums. Many curly haired women use a modified form of the cgm that suits their hair best. I alternate one wash with shampoo and the next as a co wash. I have a very dry/eczema prone scalp and dry/course textured hair that craves moisture. Not shampooing every single wash works fine for me and that's the key - finding what works for each of us. When I shampoo I deep condition afterwards, which helps my hair to get enough moisture. Don't worry about the "judgy" few, as most women just want you to find a way to enjoy your curls. I think those with an oilier scalp will need to use shampoo far more often than I do, that's sensible and no judgement from this direction. Best wishes. ps a channel that embraces shampoo is Manes by Mel. Good luck.

I have never heard this from any skincare experts, but I just feel like the "like removes like" rule really applies here. What I mean is that I feel like cleansing oils don't just remove the unwanted oils from my face, they remove the oils my skin needs as well. Just a guess from my experience. I love micellar water, it's amazing and here in France we all use it to remove the hard water build up. We don't rinse it off and it's almost like a moisturizing toner. Sometimes we use it after already double cleansing.

Hi, do you ever use it to remove a lot of makeup as well? They say that women in France don't like to wear full face of heavy foundation every day. And what brand is the most popular in France in you opinion- the original bioderma? So if I understood correctly you sometimes use it like I use my toner. After splashing with the hard water you wipe micellar water to wipe it off and bring down the pH of the skin again.
@crazyliv
@crazyliv 3 жыл бұрын
@@florist7743 it depends on how much makeup I've been wearing and how lazy I am to be honest. If I'm wearing very heavy makeup, sunscreen, mascara, I usually use an oil cleanser, and then in the shower I use a lightly foaming one. Then when I get out of the shower I dry my face and use micellar water just to remove the hard water deposits. If I'm lazy or not wearing a lot of makeup I only use the micellar water at night and it's completely fine. Bioderma with the pink lid for sensitive skin is the most popular one. I buy when it's on sale and it ends up being around 5-6 euros for a big 500ml bottles. Actually Lab Muffin just released a video a few days ago talking about micellar water too if you're interested. Oh btw it doesn't change the ph of the skin the way some Asian toners do though.

You make great points but for someone who has dry skin like mine which does not tolerate cleansing twice a day, it’s been great to use it in the mornings followed by a quick rinse. My face isn’t all that dirty from just sleeping the night. In the evenings, when there is sunscreen and dirt on the face, then use a cleansing balm + gentle cleanser.

This was good. As someone who hates rinsing my face with water micellar water is very nice because it makes me cleanse my face much more than I otherwise would. I usually wipe with micellar water, then wipe with plain water. If I have used makeup or lots of sunscreen I sometimes use whatever oil I have (usually argan, but lately rosehip seed, because I didn't enjoy it as a facial oil and want to use it up) first to break it up, then the micellar water to remove the oil-dirt/makeup/suncreen gunk (or one of those dreaded wipes, but I prefer the micellar water), then wipe with water. The analogue to no-poo hair washing was very useful. Makes me feel much better, because I do use a mild, general cleanser and/or a cleansing milk 2-3 times a week in the shower. But there is no way I would do that daily, it is just not something I enjoy at all. Don't find the Garnier micellar water irritating at all. Have tried a few others, one stung and felt very drying, but most have been fine. The Garnier is just easy, cheap, and readily available.

I’m 60 with Rosacea and use full coverage foundation - I started using Micellar water because I thought I could replace it as a Toner and as a last step in my cleansing routine and to remove any traces of makeup. You read my mind on this one! I have been having this micellar water - oil cleanser debate for a while and have used both as a first cleanse and I have to agree completely with you on the oil removing sunscreen and makeup easier than the micellar. I have used Garnier and Bioderma and found them both to be equally effective. They don’t have any adverse effects on my mature, normal with slightly oily T zone skin, but I do have to work harder to get the mascara off. I do still use the M.W. to take the sunscreen off my neck because it’s less messy at the sink. 😊. Thanks again for this video and validating my results.

I use micellar water and a cleansing gel most days, but if I'm wearing heavier make up that day, then I go micellar water -> cleansing oil -> cleansing gel. That way I'm sure that the make up has been removed properly, and the cleansing oil nicely nourishes the skin, since wearing make up all day tends to make my skin dry.

I started using a Micellar water about 4 months ago. Winter had arrived. And instead of a full face of makeup, I was only using a light dusting of powder. So I thought Micellar water would be quicker as my first cleans, rather. than a cleansing balm. After a while I noticed I was getting strange blackheads in places I 'd never even had blackheads before. And I started getting random massive spots. They always had at least two heads, sometimes three. Because I always did a second cleans and washed the Micellar water off. It took me ages before I suspected the Micellar water of causing my acne. Now I'm back to using an Oil Balm every night as a first cleans. And then a face wash. Blackeheads and acne are no longer a problem. I like to use... THE ORDINARY Squalane Cleanser + Eucerin DermatoClean Hyaluron Cleansing Gel ( If I'm wearing just a bit of powder makeup ) THE INKEY LIST Oat Cleansing Balm + Eucerin DermatoClean Hyaluron Cleansing Gel ( If I'm wearing quite a bit of makeup ) Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm + Eucerin DermatoClean Hyaluron Cleansing Gel ( If I'm wearing a full face of makeup ) I have super oily acne prone skin!

She's just sharing what worked for her. Lots of people in the comments have said their skin tolerates micellar water better than a cleansing oil/balm so if it works for you, keep using it. Just follow the part of this video that was medical advice rather than personal preference (that you need to rinse it off and use a gentle cleanser after) and then choose the rest based on what your skin likes. For what it's worth, if I recall correctly, I think Dr. Sandra Lee uses a micellar water.

Dr. Sam Bunting is of the opposite opinion. She doesn't like double cleanse with oil. She believes it increases the risk of milia especially around the eyes. I have trouble with milia around my eyes and on my eyelids so I was thinking of switching from oil cleansing to micellar water as my first cleanse. I do know that I tried using coconut oil to remove eye makeup and it was horrible. I developed quite a few milia around my eyes. I am actually triple cleansing when I use oil (I am using mineral oil). I wash with face cleanser twice after using oil to make sure I get every bit of oil off my skin to prevent milia.
@wendigo1919
@wendigo1919 3 жыл бұрын
Coconut oil (i wouldn't use mineral oil either) is bad news for the majority of people on their faces. Dr. Dray is referring to cleansing oils that typically contain a PEG, which allows it to emulsify (very important) and be COMPLETELY rinsed off cleanly. They start off as oils on the face but when water is introduced after massaging in, they turn milky and again, rinse cleanly, followed by a gentle cleanser to actually cleanse the skin. :) Other oils that aren't formulated to emulsify would put you at risk for milia.

Nothing better (for me) to break up the gunk. My skin is quite greasy (yes, even at age 63), and as much as I've given the balms a try, they're just too goopy for me. I end up scrubbing my face afterwards (GASP!) and I think I do more harm than good. I always wash w/a mild cleanser (Aveeno) after using my micellar cleanse. I rinse w/distilled water. Micellar water at least for me is a gift from above. Fighting with oily skin and large pores. My large pores totally gone. No more black heads. Everyone is complementing me. The oily skin and large pores were a total nightmare. Sebum and skin just glued to each other. Never ending cycle. The hot shower made it worse. My skin is not at 100% but I can say it's at 96% after the Micellar water. Black heads ate almost non existant. Pore size from 100% huge to almost a 3% percent size. Nothing will be perfect but I'm happy with the result. Eventually by summer hopefully my skin would be much better. Not a big of oily shiny face. Not a fan of oils. But for now Micellar water is heaven sent.

Hmmm. I personally find that the Bioderma micellar water I use removes all my makeup and even sunscreen, beautifully. Seems to remove it better than, say, CeraVe hydrating cleanser and about as well as cleansing balms. I can tell everything is removed when I use a cotton pad and it is clean when I wipe my face. I can also tell by the feel of my skin. It's surprising the micellar waters are that gentle, but glad to hear it. Its not thick or greasy, easy to work with and affordable. Im not sure about eye makeup though, but she claims it gets off her waterproof mascara.

I use the Clinique eye makeup remover. It’s in a purple bottle. I find no irritation. Helena

@@potato2423 I somehow "inherited" half a bottle of that, and that stuff is potent! And very long lasting, a little goes a loooong way. I don't use mascara or other eye makeup much (a little bit of eyebrow sometimes), but that Clinique solvent is insanely effective at removing lipstick (and lipSTAINS). When I have used it on my eyes, like you I find no stinging. It does feel a little bit drying, though, so I wouldn't use it on my whole face, or at least not without doing some variation of oil-cleanse afterwards.

I think double cleansing is less irritating than traditional cleansing since you don't need to rub your face as much to get the sunscreen off and it just cleans your face better.

you can actually use micellar water without cotton pads. pour micellar water into a lather maker bottle which the foamed micellar water comes out by one press. and apply them on to a dry skin and massage like you would with cleansing oil. and emulsify it with luke warm water. it doesnt irritate my skin and in my opinion it cleanses your skin better than cleansing oil. you need to double cleanse though with a gentle facial cleanser following up

I love micellar water ! It dissolves my eye makeup foundation and sunscreen pretty easily, then I cleanse my face with a mild face wash. If I wanted to use my regular cleanser it’s not really enough to get all my makeup off, unless I scrub and tug like crazy. So yeah, I still have to cleanse after micellar water HOWEVER all I need is a super quick, mild cleanse. This process cuts my cleansing time in half, much better and faster than a regular cleanse. If someone doesn’t wear makeup I’m not sure micellar water is necessary. But for us cake faces, I think it’s essential if you’re not keen on tugging and pulling the skin, as well as over drying.

I’ve tried the DE micellar water. It’s not really even a water texture. It’s more of a serum texture, and it’s great - hydrating, doesn’t feel sticky and doesn’t sting around the eyes for me. But I agree, I don’t think it replaces the act of washing your face.
