It seems that a few people still can't believe that Kent Nishimura can play the bass line, the melody and the percussive hits at the same time. I know what they mean. And I can totally understand that they have their impression like that. I think it's very natural in a way. However, believe or not, Kent's solo guitar playing on KZbin were recorded WITHOUT overdubs or multi-tracking. Fortunately, I have seen his playing this song "Thriller" more than 5 times at his solo concert here in Japan and he's always playing exactly the same. I don't know if he plays this song on this KZbin video live or not. But there is no possibility for him to overdub or something like that. He doesn't need to do that, as he can do that with no gimmick. Using 6-string acoustic guitar, he get a whole band sound on each of the original songs he chose. That's the most important for Kent to create his sensitively arrangement. I hope that you enjoy many other videos by Kent on his own KZbin channel below. kzbin.info/door/NYlXBcX43XtXOxzzKmps2w

@@bryanpasache0910 Some of you may know, Kent Nishimura has uploaded a new 2021 version of "Thriller" with brand new arrangement which is more complicated and difficult to play a few months ago below on his KZbin channel. This video was taken by one camera. Thriller - Michael Jackson - Solo Acoustic Guitar (Arranged by Kent Nishimura) kzbin.info/www/bejne/roC4ZJmio8aVmrc In addition, Kent's first tab/music book which includes the 2021 version of "Thriller" and other 14 songs was released on U.S. major music publication company, Hal Leonard Corp. in Oct. 2021. Kent as a supervisor joined the tab book project. All people who had said as "Kent plays this song with over dub or multi-track or loop pedal or somethin like that" will be able to know how Kent played this song on one guitar without any gimmick. www.halleonard.com/product/360540/kent-nishimuras-fingerstyle-solo-guitar-songs Kent can play not only this "Thriller" and other many cover songs on his KZbin channel on one guitar without over dub or multi-tracking or any other gimmick. It's simply fact. In a case of a song he needs to have some additional part(s) on it by all means, he always add 2nd guitar (and 3rd guitar) by himself in the same screen. It's Kent's own style that he arranged and perform all of the original band sound include vocal part for one guitar. He is special kind. I know that there are some people who don't believe that what he does is possible for him to perform with one guitar. Most of them admit that Kent's arrangement and performance is good. But they misunderstand that Kent uses multi-tracking and/or looping pedal. I'm sorry to know that they continue to talk about what it's not true. Because I can't feel that they have respected his talent and efforts on his incredible performance on one guitar. BTW, I would like to inform them that Kent has appreciated not only many huge fans but those people who don't understand his style for one guitar. He currently told me as "Some people can't believe that I can play songs on one guitar in that way with my original arrangement. I think that it's a compliment in a sense. Because they say that it's totally unbelievable for me to play the song with one guitar. Needless to say, it would be great that all of them understand my style on arrangement and performances someday".

Kent plays this incredible 16th note baseline beat between the main baseline that can be best seen by slowing down at 3:09 and playing at .25 speed. He plays it with his thumb and index finger. Once you see how he does it, then replay the whole song and look for when he does it. Basically, anytime he doesn't have to play a melody with his index finger, he's adding in that baseline. He's basically flexing... that's the Kent Nishimura way. He's styling on us and we don't even know.

Besides of your technique, which is impeccable, what I truly love of you is your deep respect for the original harmonies. You do not "review" songs like most other musicians do. Bravo Kent. Michael would be proud of your hard work 🙂

Just a hint, it's what I used starting out? Metronome or click track, concentrate on covering click with the bass line before adding melody. It's worked for me, but I started is a bass player before moving to guitar..... So, maybe apples/oranges? Hope that helps.. .

As you may know, Kent Nishimura has uploaded a new 2021 version of "Thriller" with brand new arrangement which is more complicated and difficult to play a few months ago below on his KZbin channel. All people who had said as "Kent plays this song with over dub or multi-track or loop pedal or somethin like that" will be able to know how Kent played this song on one guitar without any gimmick. www.halleonard.com/product/360540/kent-nishimuras-fingerstyle-solo-guitar-songs
