--------
Celebrated martial artist and actor Michael Jai White shared his insights on the top martial artists in Hollywood. White praised several renowned figures but singled out Jet Li as the most knowledgeable in martial arts, crediting Li's extensive training since childhood and his tenure in the esteemed Beijing Wushu Team. White also lauded other martial arts icons, such as Jackie Chan, Bruce Lee, and Tony Jaa, each for their unique contributions to martial arts cinema. Additionally, he highlighted Donnie Yen's exceptional choreography and fighting skills, as well as Wesley Snipes, Jason Statham, and Jean-Claude Van Damme for their prowess. However, White specifically noted Jerry Trimble for his real-life fighting skills, calling him "the most exciting fighter ever in the ring." Expanding the conversation, he mentioned other accomplished fighters and actors like Randy Couture, Chuck Norris, and Steven Seagal, appreciating their martial arts and cinematic achievements.

You must believe in Santa if you think you can have a record like that in such short time unless you count amateur not full contact competitions when you take on 4 or 5 'fights' a day. Weirdly, the most tested guy who made some living of TV and straight to video movies is Don Wilson who was beating the shit out of people at kickboxing and is a real legend of the sport. He is probably the most legitimate fighter. Yen and Lee are great but they mastered a choreography not actual combat. Jai White also inflates his ability. Combat wise he is on par with Van Damme and Lundgren, below Norris and all those stories about his sparring with UFC fighters is just him being more athletic when he meets UFC fighters than what Seagal does. Not taking away anything from any of those guys and Jai White is amazing but we are talking about bodybuilders and models or Asians who dance in movies. Don Wilson and maybe Benny Urquidez are actually brutal fighters.

I feel like Jean Claude Van Damme doesn't get enough respect. For being a real fighter and a real martial artist. He was a real legit Shotokan Karate Black Belt. Even has a legitimate kickboxing record. Some might say well that's Wikipedia doesn't mean anything. When Van Damme would have been competing it would have been sometime in the 70's. The terminologies for Combat Sports have changed as far as the wording. It may very well have been a Full - Contact or Semi- Contact Karate matches/fights. They wasn't no K-1, Glory Kickboxing, and now we have Karate Combat. Doesn't matter it's all relevant in my humble opinion. I'm also so glad Michael Jai White. Has corrected himself. On his feelings on if Van Damme is a " real fighter/martial artist." A few years ago on The Voice Versus aka Michael Schiavello's sit down one on one interview series. Jai White said he doesn't consider him neither. The number one thing I can tell Van Damme is legit. Is his effortless freedom of movement. When you train as a fighter martial artist. You drill single techniques and combinations. Like Bruce Lee said "Don't fear the man that knows 1,000 kicks. Fear the man that trained one kick 1,000 times." You basically enter flow state or ultra instinct. Go look at any Great Athlete. Whether that is Michael Jordan or Bo Jackson. Larry Bird or Muhammad Ali. Mike Tyson or Conor McGregor you get it? All of these individuals have one thing in common in their respective sport genre. Also another sign of this. Is when you watch Van Damme. There are no tells or telegraphs in his repetitive movements.

Van Damme is legit. But his record in fighting just not as long as a lot of the other MJW mentioned. But i feel what youre saying. He has been doing movies so long people kind of forget Van Damme competed. His kick game is immaculate. He actually dumbs his skills down for movies. Which is different from most film martial artists who generally make themselves look super incredible in movies. Van Damme likes to portray slower, more beat up & overcome type of fighting. Which makes for a more inspiring film. He dont just dominate in movies like everyone else and go untouched. Because of that, people think of him less. But nah, Van Damme is legit. He has video online whoopin ass in his karate tournaments. He was fast as shit and very timely with kicks. His flexibility is very underrated.

I love that one of the first MJW mentions is Tony Jaa! I have always been a fan of MJW, he should have gotten more leading roles.

Jet Li in Unleashed is one of the most powerful acting performances I have ever seen it's story just hits so hard. Incredibly impressive acting performance and Jet Li's fight scenes are always exciting and full of energy.
