This song reminds me of my parents. Mama moved on, but Daddy was forever broken from it. He died this year and shortly before he did, he told me how deeply he still loved my Mom and how he was never able to completely heal from losing her and us. It breaks my heart to know my Dad never found happiness and love. I just pray he's finally at peace now. I love you Daddy and miss you more everyday.

My Dad did learn to be content in his life but Mama was his first and only true love and he told me he just never had it in him to love like that again after losing her. JFredericks I actually feel this because recently me and my fiancé of 5 years and two kids just split. Everyday is a struggle because before I met her all the love I had in my had left due to the death of my ex (a girl I dated before I met my current ex). When she came into my life all of that pain just went away and love found it’s way back into my heart. Now that she’s gone I can’t see the path ahead. It’s like the world stop turning and my heart is still at that moment when everything started crashing down. I know exactly how your father felt because when you find the one you just know and there’s nothing more painful than not being with your one and only. But after 36 years.. I had to leave that abuse before he killed me physically emotionally and Psychological. It makes me sad but it only makes me stronger because I am in a wonderful “world “now. My dad died a couple of years ago. My dad told me that he was always going to love my mom and wished that he had changed himself, when things went bad. But he never truly could. My dad sat in purgatory. feeling all the pain he hid deep within. He drank to get drunk. He drank to forget... But when my dad passed and she was the first person I called. She tried to hold it in. But knowing the father of her children was gone I could tell that it broke her too. But. That's how life is sometimes. You get hit hard and you either sink or swim. Sometimes feeling that cuspid of drowning can be suffocating. But if you can overcome the odds and bounce back. You can turn it around. It still hurts me. But I try to suppress those feelings and sometimes, it's too much.

Sounds like my parents too. We lost my Dad in September and from the day my Mom left 12 years ago he went down hill and was never the same. He still did everything he could for her and still would to this day if he could. She chose drugs and men over a man who adores her and 3 girls who needed her. Now she’s missing out on wonderful grandchildren.

That sounds so similar to my parents situation. Oddly enough my wife's parents situation as well. Both of our mothers had left our dad while our dads couldn't cope. One killed himself after a few years of depression and one drinks his sorrows away and has a hard time trusting or loving others now. It hurts my heart just thinking about it. I hope to never be in this situation myself.
