Michigan has its QB. This is not difficult. Orji was 71% passing in spring game and his running ability is going to open lanes for our RBs. Notice how Orji came in for meaningful snaps last season? That wasn’t because our run game needed him. It was the same thing you saw with JJ before he took over. They’re getting him familiar with having the ball in his hands in meaningful time. The starter is Orji and he will perform well.

Their receivers are a lot better than most are giving them credit for. Whoever starts needs to be accurate, extend plays with their legs while keeping their eyes upfield (not just tuck and run), and convert on 3rd downs. 3 things JJ was outstanding at.

@@annarbor94 they very well could be. Plus, they might have the best TE in the country with Loveland, a very good pass catching RB with edwards, and added depth with walker and Charleston. They definitely have speed with Morris and Morgan, and a consistent big bodied threat up the middle with Loveland. They just need 1 guy to step up to be the 3rd wr so they can spread the field when they need to.

@@scottd1903 Exactly on the 3rd WR point & Loveland will definitely be the #1 pass catching TE off the board. Semaj & Tyler will be much stronger this year, which equals more bursts & speed. Hopefully O’Leary can finally get out there & be that chain mover that we need

Tyler Morris, Semaj Morgan, and Fred Moore will be guys that the quarterback(whoever it is) can rely on. Moore is probably the fastest guy on the team so he likely will he the deep threat guy. Also got Colston Loveland at tight end as the safety net.

Amorion Walker is the fastest guy on the team. Marlin Klein is the Tyreek Hill of Tight Ends. Fred Moore is a burner, as is Jordan Marshall.

You need the runner. Slow the game down and keep high powered offenses off the field while making your rested defense bettwr to defend those high powered offense. Also a heavy run game and defense beat any average team.

If Alex Orji is even half the passer JJ is then Michigan will be scary. If not then defenses will stack the box and stifle the run game

If Moore and Campbell want to run the ball, they'll run the ball 😂. UM can go full on Navy on steroids if they want with Orji at the helm. Defenses will be forced to play a ton of zone with Orji at QB. They'll be fine 👍

Of course we don't know wtf is happening in practice but Orji has completed 1 pass in 2 years during all those REAL game blowouts so maybe they don't trust him like that. If he wins idc but I get sick of people acting like he's already proven himself.

Two reasons why Davis Warren must be the starter come week 1- MERIT and MORALE. His performance in the spring game was McCarthy-esque. Two passing touchdowns on 9 attempts. Both touchdowns were 40+ yards, and he threw another 35+ yard pass for good measure. 136 passing yards on 9 attempts is a shade over 15 yards per attempt.... McCarthy-esque. Additionally, as the college football fan base learns his story, and the impossible challenges that he has already overcome( Leukemia as a High School junior), it is literally impossible to root against Davis Warren. As a matter of fact, even the most bitter of rivals will find themselves rooting for DW to shine. Lastly, I don't like the notion of talking about QBs in a vacuum. It's easy to envision Davis and Donovan having a Kurt Warner/Marshall Faulk ceiling. I don't see any natural comparison, and therefore replicable paradigm for any of the other QBs, with any of our offensive weapons.

Davis Warren was the best QB in the spring game, but Orji is freakishly athletic! Let's not forget that Jack Tuttle was the #2 QB on this roster last year before he got injured, so I would definitely not count him out. Tuttle can throw and he's very quick on his feet!

Michigan is going to have a strong defense, no doubt. ( Graham, Will Johnson, Grant etc). They play well as a unit always anyway. Probably top 2 this year. Run game will be strong once again. They have a good system down ( like plug in play with the OL and RB.) But JJ McCarthy was ELITE in the college game. He led. He had toughness. He could scramble. He had amazing pocket awareness. He had a great arm. Michigan under-used him….. But in his limited time he was a huge impact I am not sure Orgi is that or is Warren’s. Jadyn could be that but he’s a true freshman The difference in QB play could be the difference between going 12-0 and 9-3….. Ohio State, Oregon are no doubt better than UM with a QB projection room of Alex Orgi or Warren

The bottom line is Kirk Campbell has the best job in the world, being OC for these Michigan Wolverines. Davis Warren can flat out sling that thing, and Orji is likely to be the best dual threat QB in the Big Ten. Dangerous Donovan, Klein, Moore, Morgan, Morris, Marshall, and Walker, to name a few, give this team some Lamborghini features we haven't had in recent memory.

2023 we were the preseason favorites for the natty but I think goign into this year is a lot like we were going into 2022 but honestly the only difference I see is that the schedule is significantly harder than 2022 which leaves room for doubt considering we have likely 2 top 25 matchups in our first 4 games which doesnt leave a lot of time to break in a new qb like we had in 2022
