I never joke about a deck.

I forgot to mention my fallen saw - I haven't tried to look for it again, so still haven't found it. I will keep trying though! (the saw I am using is the bigger, better version that I most recently purchased in the winter - thank goodness I bought it!).
I got a portion of the side deck done in this video. More decks on a cliff means many better things for Michy - more flat surfaces to stand on/work on, kinda adds square footage to the cabin, who doesn't love a wrap around deck?!?, and it'll greatly reduce the dirt/mud being tracked around. I REALLY wish I had added these side decks right from the beginning, but that was more than 2 years ago, and ohh the things I've learned in the last 2 years! 😊😉.
I realize that I don't have the back area sorted out enough so I will sit on that and let it declare itself to me. I walk around that area a lot, so a lot of debris is moved around. But I will wait until I am done with the siding on the back wall before moving forward with that area.
Baby steps on this cabin. That's just how it has to be.

What we did, with a cabin position like this, was dig a hole and bury a cable in concrete, then wrap that cable around the front of the deck, then bury the other end of the cable in concrete too. This gave the cabin a very strong cable loop anchoring it to the hillside.

The deck's coming along! Good decision I think to do one on the other side. Re - meaning of doing the cabin - if you are enjoying the build that is the main thing, but I think you will really enjoy the views and the place for years to come. Like the Stop-A-Tool feature. Maybe Phil Swift on the Flex Seal ads could sell the heck out of it and you'd be a fabulously wealthy Feisty Lumber Goddess. Steve's invented the self-felting sock with the dog hair. Your hammering skills are quite impressive. Doing a full swing and hitting the nail better than 95% of the time isn't easy unless you nail things for a living. FYI, you were using the adjustable wrench the wrong way when you put the anchor bolt in the big rock. You want to pull against the fixed jaw. It is designed to take the strain. Pulling against the movable jaw will cause wear in the wrench. There are times when you have to pull against the movable jaw because you can't get the wrench in the right way, but you want that to be only when you have to.

I was expecting a caption stating when you adopted Steve...or visa versa...lol. You swing a hammer like a pro, your aim; like mine; suffers from turrets. At almost 70, I still swing my 32 Oz Vaughn but im having to choke up on it. Projects are therapy. You may never understand or find the reason, but you can see the fruits of your labor. Its like surfing, we call it stoke...a zone...happiness and joy. I love companionship...none at present...but i love my alone time. It flew off into the distance, looked at the little picturesque house on the cliff, saw the world for a spell, then flew back home to safety again. We're all just drones on the internet. Maybe I'll look out my window today and fly away, or see that it's safe to leave and go outside, or turn on Beethoven and read Edgar Allen Poe all day, or remember and learn about where I'd traveled to some distant shore.
