The blue netting could be 2 or 3 things. First one is some type of safety fall protection (I don’t think that’s likely). The second is the netting to protect for the workers working below the aerial works overhead (some what likely). Thirdly is it’s a combination of protection of workers below the aerial work and protection of an active ride/train running through (what I think is most likely). I believe they will have the railroad back in service by the October 1st for the 50th celebration.

@@elainebrooks2187 I agree, besides the movie adaptation, i dont see why it hould be replaced. The ride is very popular and only focuses on the African folklore of briar rabbit. The ride literally has nothing offensive in it. It just focuses on Brair Rabbit in Briar Patch.. And they cant say it was based on something offensive when it wasnt. It was first an African folklore then later a book. The movie adaption was entirely disneys fault and they completely scrapped the movie. Its no where in walt disney world. I dont think the ride should be punished for a movie that was changed from the folklore where as the ride entirely focuses on it. But if it makes people happy then who am i to stop it?

@@pugo1113 You do realize the ride is based on the movie and the characters correct? Even Disney producers when originally releasing the movie thought it might not be a good idea. Yeah the ride is famous but for many the ride brings back a movie that portrayed slavery as a glorious thing. It also show many African Americans looking boofinish. Why not have theme that celebrates life no matter the color of the skin and not base it off a movie that both sides have agreed is racist in todays age.

as a former Cast member of the 1980's I can assure you... you are correct. how the rides and shows where constructed was in the FCFS style (first come first served) only those who where using wheel chairs would be seperated but their compainions still had to stand in line first. remember DW and DL was designed as a "park" an one had to buy a ticket to get on the ride or in to see the show. and the gate cost was very low. now before Fast pass. just before I left they where using a system of where you could go up and get a card with a time stamp on it and return at that time. there was a 10 min window if you showed up or not. and was ushered in to what is now the Fast pass lines. you see at that time smart Disney goers, would see a long line at space mountain. then would run over to the Haunted Mansion which had a shorter line. or vise versa. or such. and you learned that most people would start their day in tomorrowland and end up in adventureland later in the day. so pros would do the opposite. and also food lines. Us pros would look for the line opposite to where a show or ride exited which almost always has only a few people in line. the herd mentality said to go to the nearest line. lol well Fastpass just made all lines 10 times longer to wait.

In August 2020 my cousin and I went there for our senior trip when the parks just reopened. We went and saw some of that construction going on. At that time they were halfway done with building the walls and had barely started on the tracks. Now I’m seeing this and they’ve got a lot done I’m so excited for this ride!

I really hope one of the plans for the Tomorrowland makeover is to get rid of the rocks at the front and bring back those spires they used to have with the waterfalls. I also wonder if Astro Orbiter will be getting a makeover, possibly into something similar to Star Jets.

These labor shortages will not stop, b/c the government just won't stop the additional stimulus etc for those laid off. It is crazy, b/c companies - if they hired back the old workers, could make a complaint if they refused to go back - but what I am seeing is those companies are just hiring new people, and those who were laid off keep their unemployment without issue. It is a vicious circle that will not stop until the government puts down their foot. They should just give reg. stimmys to people, instead (so it isn't a relied on item) - to help out, and stop the unemployment. Worry about other things like SS and health insurance.

Obviously I have no sources, but I would be absolutely shocked (granted it would be pleasantly shocked but shocked nonetheless) if the railroad opens back up before the majority of the outside area of Tron is complete. I'm not an expert on the matter, but I can't help but feel that sending a train full of customers through an active construction zone of that scale is a major safety and liability concern

They could potentially run it as a shuttle going both forwards and backwards along the parts that aren't under construction instead of doing a full loop but we'll have to see

More interesting question is when everything is complete, there is a tunnel the train will go through in the Tron section. How is Disney going to theme the inside of the tunnel, LED lights, and colorful murals/posters? I hope it's not like the People Mover in Space Mountain.

Unfortunately if you asked in private some of these Disney execs responsible for making these changes across the company they'd tell you that Walt himself was racist. They've already branded many of his films with "outdated cultural depictions" and condemn Song of the South whenever it's brought up. Disney likes to lionize Walt for marketing purposes but their actual company policy reveals they hold a very different opinion of him and his legacy. Walt would certainly never approve of the parks trying to price out the average American family.

Nicely put Teddy. We came to WDW to get away from the world, and now they throw WOKE and PC in our faces (I.e. replacing Splash Mountain). And just because something is old, doesn’t mean it needs to be replaced. Examples: illuminations fireworks, Maelstrom, add sing along to the wonderful movie at France, changing soarin, removing the fountain of nations. I am a long-time annual attendee to WDW, we stay at the Dolphin Hotel. But, current leadership at Disney is starting to alienate loyal customers like us. Very sad....

I still doubt they do retheme splash mountain, not only because of the bad press, but because they easily could have done construction months ago. Construction on splash mountain would shut down the railroad again, so why would they not work while the railroad is already not running? It's odd that essentially all Disney parks projects are working right now while the most controversial one isn't. If they do eventually go through with it oh well, but it's definitely odd that it isn't already, and i think it may never happen

I don’t think it happens due to one reason alone, theming. The entire frontier land has a very distinct theme to it. Turning Splash Mountain into a bayou themed New Orleans style ride would just seem odd. In Disney Land it’s 100% happening since they are re-theming the entire land into New Orleans style land.

I talked to one of the ride operators at Space Mountain and some of the construction workers on Tron while I was there, and the story I got is that the company that Disney hired to install Tron laid a bunch of employees off during Covid and they all found work elsewhere so they had to hire and train a new crew when construction resumed.

@@gissneric Depending on how many crews they have working on it they could easily get the tracks done in a month. The real holdup is the tunnel around Tron. Till they get that complete the tracks there can not be finished. I'm guessing they are using the crews that would work on the tracks on other projects and will shift them back when Tron is far enough along for them to be able to finish it all up at one time.
