Mate these are really good points you raised. Ok I have updated the comments now. I am running Wi-Fi 6 TPlink AP: www.tp-link.com/au/business-networking/omada-sdn-access-point/eap670/ Honestly, the only major benefit of Wi-Fi6E over Wi-Fi6 is congestion in crowded areas like apartments. Yes the Q3 is WiFi6E however the max connection speed is still only 2400mbit on the Q3 which the TPlink AP I have listed above is able to deliver. If someone is living in a congested area or willing to spend the money on a future proof upgrade, I would also suggest any of these these: www.tp-link.com/au/business-networking/omada-wifi-wifi7/ My Router is not consumer grade and honestly not required for this, so any good solid gig router will suffice, mine is the Cisco 897VA: www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/routers/800-series-routers/data_sheet_c78-519930.html

​​​@@SparkySventhere's Zero difference between Wifi6 vs 6e for the Quest 3. In Virtual Desktop Wifi6 connects at 2400mbit. In Wifi6e it also can only sustain a maximum bandwidth of 2400mbit. The only benefit to anyone with a Quest3 using the Wifi6e protocol is as i already stated, if you live in a very congested area like apartments and you are battling everyone else on the 5ghz channel, Wifi6e will step you up to the 6ghz channel. Other than increasing cost you will gain zero performance benefits for the Quest 3. Save your money unless you want to future proof yourself and simply step straight upto Wi-fi7 You can also use a Wifi scanning app on your phone to see if your area is saturated in 5Ghz before you buy anything. My access point is not a 6ghz wifi6e complaint device by the way. It's only Wifi6

I've been really struggling to get smooth VR graphics in MSFS 2024 when flying low but then turned Photogrammetry to "off" in the menu General/Online/Photogrammetry. For me that's been a total game changer, it makes flying fast and low much smoother and enjoyable.

I ran out straight away bought the TP AX3000 to isolate it through the EAP670 and the Quest 3 sat humming at 2401. I only have a 3080 on the 11900 but I’m eyeing off an RTX 4080 Super now. I’ve been a bush pilot all my life and flight sim is just now starting to look how I see it most days. Flew past Wyndham the other day, the colour in your video looked pretty close although a little brighter. I’ve followed Steve and Mark for years and they are awesome. However your excitement matches mine when I sim and it got my attention straight away. Thanks again.

Hi, I have a Wi-Fi 6 router but only 1200 mbs. Unfortunately, I can only reach 80 FPS and it stutters less and more often. It cracks and then the FPS drops briefly. TAA looks jerky despite 80 FPS. Hey mate thanks for watching and the questions. Check in your Wi-Fi router/Access Points settings, you need to run the 5GHz on the 160mhz channel, not the 80hz it's probably currently set on. In order to run at Wi-Fi 6 speeds the 160hz channel is critical. You should then see 2400mbit on the Q3 with Virtual Destop. Hopefully that helps, if not me know 😊

Of course mate, once you have checked the little tick box for it to show in VD, simply press both the thumbstick buttons at the same time, its should now display, repeat that process to remove it. :)

Thanks for the video. Butter smooth for me! SSW and DLSS balanced or quality gets me the best frames and latency and the DLSS is not too noticeable compared to TAA. TAA is just a bit too much of a hit in frames/latency (on 4090, 64ram, Quest 3)

No, actually there is a bloke who did some pretty comprehensive tests and discovered there is pretty much zero difference. I guess the only advantage with using Virtual Desktop is you are wireless. I've only got a humble 3070 processor i chose a mid range pc option at start up never changed anything and in VR it works fine.. I do have a very fast Internet connection took only 15 minutes to download the game.

on global settings, Ray tracing is set on for high and ultra presets, so you must choose medium or low and then adjust each slider up to what you need, but that will turn off ray tracing.

And that's why it's so hard for me to get excited about any of the upcoming super high res VR headset like the crystal super. I just don't see the performance overhead with my current setup (quest pro, 4080) which would allow me to make the jump without too much compromises. I'm hoping for a non-meta headset running Meta OS with some minor feature bump (e.g. Local dimming, Eye tracking) while still being able to use VDs awesome motion projection which is really a game changer compared to what we had in the past.

spacewarp is the difference...also invest in a wifi6 router and use virtual desktop.... In 2020 fsr 3 mod was the answer for these type of results. But getting these results with TAA is crazy. So happy with the sim. In 60 days the mods will be crazy.

Mate check in the VD app that you have both 'VR Headset & Computer' selected, if its just VR Headset you will have no sound into the Crystal. You also need to make sure you have selected Virtual Desktop from the sound settings on Windows.

My att router is 1200mbs, not 2400… but my pc is connected by Ethernet and motherboard has wifi7. Seems like I want to connect my quest3 to the pc in virtual desktop rather than the router. Any help?

Great question mate. If your router does not support Wi-fi6 or is not configured correctly to output on that channel you won't be able to connect to the PC over WiFi any faster than that. The Wi-fi 7 that your motherboard has built in is not for other devices like the Quest 3 to connect to. It's for the motherboard to connect to a Wi-fi signal from a router with Wi-fi or, Access Point. Whats the model of your router and I'll check for you. If it's not suitable, you can always just grab a cheap Wi-Fi 6 access point like i have suggested, plug that into your router, connect the Q3 to that and you are cooking on gas. Ideally you only want your PC connected by Ethernet cable, not wifi for the fastest and most stable connection to the router. Hope this helps.

Truly disappointed. Meanwhile, link cable directly connected was worse than the virtual desktop over 5ghz router. Forced to buy a new access point.

Turns out the key was 160hz channel bandwidth in access point settings. Instant 2400mbps. I wonder if my Nighthawk AC2400 was capable of that all along. God forbid even the hotspot.

Honestly, normally in the simrig I will only use the Pimax Crystal Light for sim stuff, its only been with the release of FS2024 and the terrible frames that pulled me back into using the Q3 instead for the advantages detailed in this video. I also use the Q3 for other videos like Cyberpunk2077 that are also running better in the Q3. With a really powerful WiFi setup and VD though, its pretty amazing.

Ok one question though I noticed your pop up menu is on pretty much the whole flight. To me that’s a huge distraction when looking straight ahead. In previous version it used to disappear. Hey mate, as TAA is sharper, Of course if you set this to DLSS you will net a few extra frames however that was my point in this video and following on with what Steve "VR Flight Sim Guy' was saying. There is not much difference in FPS between the two and TAA is sharper. I would suggest DLSS for anyone who is not really focused on glass cockpits or reading the gauges clearly.

I was flying a landing challenge over water and didn’t like the reflection of the mountain over water. I tried every setting to find it and decided to turn off raymarched reflections. I’d rather not see it than see a poor version of it in vr. Wasn’t impressed even when on ultra.

That's actually the motion comp setting im using to record into the Quest headset in VR, makes the viewing experience less jittery. I'm not seeing this in game. I turn it on as I get so animated and excited when I fly that watching my footage is a train wreck from moving my head so much 😂

Great video but one little personal criticism ; unless you are gonna play high or ultra settings you shouldn't bother playing MSFS 2024 IMHO. And not using DLSS Quality mode is a crime when it comes to this game. I really do not understand the belief system you 4090 owners have when it comes to this. The new DLSS dll file is sharp and smooth brother and you can enjoy the incredible graphics of 2024 more than anyone with that beast of a card. Believe me when I say it's hard to spot the difference. I took screenshots of full max TAA and full MAX DLSS and it is really hard to spot the difference. When I try to run it of course it is a slide show with TAA but with DLSS on Projection on 4090 owners get 120fps with amazing graphics. Just check out some videos you will see. Because honestly that TAA mode looks like crap with those settings regardless of your frame rates. My 4080 with my 13900K is getting also the same frame rate with more enjoyable scenery and better graphics all around. And the admiration and envy I have for your system drops drastically after I see that you are playing with those settings 😉

Thanks for watching mate and the comments. I think what you are clearly missing here is that the video you see is impacted by two factors. Firstly, the compression of video uploaded to KZbin, and secondly, I am recording directly with the Quest 3 Headset that has a limitation of the quality and compression. You are not seeing a 1 to 1 representation of what I am seeing. And lastly, but probably the most notable point. Sometimes what you see is subjective, my settings and the configurations I am running is kind of like the way I make my coffee in the morning. Its personal, and not really up to anyone else to decide how I drink it. :) So if your admiration for my VR setup has dropped drastically because I like my settings a certain way, well, that's up to you. At least you don't have to play with the settings that way if you don't want to. :)

I have a 13700k @ 5.3GHz 64GB ram 4080s Quest 3, Wifi 6e router, all the same numbers and settings and a blurry mess, no sharpness at all. Half your luck mate.

Mate something must be wrong for sure. OK let's figure this oudrivare you running the latest GPU driver, is Virtual Desktop using the 10bit codec. Are you using VDXR as the runtime to bypass SteamVR, are you able to get the image looking crisp with anything you do regardless of frames? What is the connected speed of your WiFi showing in the VD overlay? Also feel free to email me screenshots of all your settings, in game & VD. Also what country are you in?
