I drive a fabia hatchback which is by no means a big car, but to achieve the space economy like you have here with a Citigo is something else. And I like the way you have kept it plain and simple - no BS "look at my epic van life - I'm special on insta", it is simple, honest and unassuming - that's what makes these camping videos so exciting.

I have been watching your video's for a while now, and decided to go back and join you from the beginning of your journey, and want to thank you for been so honest and real, and sharing your life's ups and downs with us. Your car camper is really authentic, no "BS" just simple with everything you need, and absolutely stealth. Being solo will assist you in finding your higher self, and it's a journey we all have to take at some time. Blessings in light and love. from South Africa

Just found this and a) really impressed by the minimalist approach - especially sleeping on just a roll-up 1cm yoga mat!! b) I also love the fact it's a UK right hand drive car as the majority of car campers seem to be Americans with much, much bigger vehicles. Inspirational. Liked and subbed. Cheers

NICE! Thanks for the handy explanations :) I am just trying to figure out how to turn my VW Up! into a camper without removing the passenger seats, as I'm just lacking about 20cm in length to fully lay down. Your videos gave me the idea to loosen the passenger seat in the front, but NOT detach the cables - then I can move it further to the front and things might work out! Excited to try tomorrow. Good trips to you!

Hi Morts, you sure are an ace with the use of limited space. One thing I was wondering about is that if you go of the beaten track pretty far away from towns and villages and you get a serious puncture, like a plit tire due to a sharp stone, you don't seem to have a sparewheel by the looks of it, which could leave you in the middle of nowhere, or even further away from civility. Do you have something planned for such a situation ?

Nice streamline setup. I have no intention of living in a car or van but the water bladder is something I want to put in my minivan anyway. I'll never have to buy another single water bottle when my own water container runs empty while out.

All very well planned set up you have there Mort's.. The only thing id struggle with would be the bed ..I have a Vauxhall Astra van I use for stealth camping,and I have to have my memory foam single household mattress for comfort lol . How you manage on just that yoga mat is beyond me ... possibly because your a lot younger than me ,and maybe at your age I may well have managed ,but I'm late 50s now ,old Bones 😂 Anyway ,how are you enjoying the van dweller life full time is it suiting you ,any regrets ? Very nice! I've just came back from a road trip where I had to spend a night with my gf in an stock, 3-door Citigo (not for the first time), and being 6ft 7in it wasn't the comfiest of sleeps. So I went on googling how to remove the rear seat just to see what would be possible and really didn't expect to find Citigo camper conversion :D When you remove the back seat, do the backs of the front bend all the way down (flat)? How long is the space between the glovebox and trunk ledge? Have you tried tapping into the Garmin console connection on the top of the front panel? There's a lid right under the vent grill with 9-pin connector in my car. The newer ones have USB port there apparently and I wondered what it would take to be able to at least charge the phone from it (so the cables didn't run across the whole dash) or better yet, charge the phone and connect to audio system. I feel like the pins are there and it's a matter of connecting to the right ones but I wasn't able to find the pinout.
@mortdog
@mortdog 2 ай бұрын
@sirClogg hey 👋 I haven't used the connector for the gps terminal. I use an Bluetooth receiver into the AUX terminal to connect my phone to the speakers. The seats don't fold down flat unfortunately. As for the measurement from front to back I'm sure you can find that yourself.

I've seen hundreds of car camper videos and this one is the closest to mine in terms of organization, simplicity and aesthetics. Love it. Some clever ideas - water bag, trash bag. One question: Do you blackout the front windows too? If not, when you're sleeping, people could see the bottoms of your legs and feet, correct? I do a lot of urban camping so need to be as stealth as possible. Thanks.
@mortdog
@mortdog 3 жыл бұрын
No front window covers. It was a concern for me so I do have a black sleeping bag liner from Mountain Warehouse that I use as a sheet in the summer... but it's not a concern any more, even in urban settings I'd rarely park next to a pavement, and even then it would be drivers side with seat put forward. In any case I think front covers attract more attention than they subvert.
