Been there, done that… The 'scope I modded (~10 or so years ago) was an Olympus BX53 and the mod worked just fine (I repurposed an industrial HD "CCTV" camera intended for automatic inspection of PCBs right after the oven). To my knowledge, they're still using it in the teaching pathology lab…

Oliver, as always thank you for your efforts and great broadcasts. I just wanted to mention that I have 4 of those cameras (Name brand Mokose from Amazon) hooked to my ATEM Mini Pro ISO and they are fantastic. I have a home audio studio so my cameras don't need to do sound. Off subject, but would love it if you spent a few minutes on you broadcasting gear? Your audio and video are always excellent! Take good care, Jimmy in PA.

I got one of these thinking. It was an actual camera itself but I was wrong. Can I hook this up to any microscope? Or does it have to be an expensive one? Can I get a lowprice microscope that I can hook it up to?

Is there a US version of the reduction one you used or preferred ? I think it was the second one you tested and believe you already had that one . Would like you to buy that one if possible .

Can you please explain how it works with the magnification. If I use an 60x objective, and an 10x eyepiece, I have 600x magnification. How can I achieve that with a camera? I can't put the camera over the eyepiece. So how can I view 600x magnification on the monitor?

The most important thing when buying a camera is image sensor size. A bigger sensor will not require the 0.5X adapter so avoiding chromatic aberrations.

I have one of these industrial cameras (different brand though), I made sure to get one with both an HDMI port and a USB 3 port. This means I can use my microscope camera software to control the camera. In fact I only used the HDMI port for the initial setup, after that I have always used the USB port, thugh

Hello sir, Can we take the measurements of the biological specimens under a microscope with your camera (industrial ) which comes with a USB port and can we use common free software?

@@surendarchandrasekar5194 I use Toupview, I had an early version that came with an older USB camera. I updated to a later version. It allows calibration and then measuring of distances through your microscope. The latest version doesn't recognise my camera, so you may have to hunt around a bit if you decide to go that way. There is also ToupView lite, but I'm not sure which features it has compared with the full version.

Hi microbe hunter, I have a question. I use an introductory microscope which can achieve maximum magnification of 320x, If i use a 30x eyepiece with my 20x objective (which is the highest objective I have) the total magnification will be 600x and if I use 25x eyepiece with my 20x objective the total magnification will be 500x. My microscope is telmu XD-1606 inverse microscope, can you please tell me which eyepiece would be compatible with my 20x objective. I need atleast 400x magnification, Thanks in advance btw love your videos

Hello; I've been a microbe hunter for 30+ years. It appears that you do not answer questions but I'll give it a jab anyway. You may look up my webpage and email through my youtube. I use an older Sony camcorder with a large CMOS chip, firewire connected to a 24 GB desktop. I record directly to the hard drive while observing on the monitor. The cam has a 10X optical zoom operated by wireless remote - awesome system which beats all USB systems to hell. I'm assuming that the HDMI camera you show is High Definition. It is tragic that it has no zoom operated by that remote. Would this camera work, without delay to capture video using a desktop installed HDMI capture card (not the little adapter you show) and independent video software? The delay factor has been a big issue when my camera is set on high definition in the sense that I cannot follow microbes around with the stage controls. It is fine with a regular setting. It is my thought that HDMI capture may solve this. It does not appear to have delay when you moved the stage, My experience with digital zoom is terrible and it appears that only high end Sonys ($$) are offering this combined with 'true' HDMI capture. Any advise is appreciated.

Another thing is, I have been said, that more modern usb3 or hdmi cameras give worst results with 160mm objectives because they are designed for infinite optics.
