thanks Armando Hasudungan for your input. Just to make sure guys: Prokaryotes is a prokaryotic cell single celled organism and they are smaller and simpler(e.g bacterial cells) Bacterial cells contain these sub-cellular structures: Cell membrane-holds the cell together and controls what goes in and out of the cell. Cytoplasm-Gel-like substance where most of the chemical reaction happen(take place). It contains enzymes that control these chemical reactions. Cell wall{for bacterial cells provide an extra layer of protection and strengthens the cell. Bacteria cells do not have chloroplasts or mitochondria. Bacterial cells do not have a 'true' Nucleus---instead they have a single circular strand of DNA that floats freely in the cytoplasm. The may contain small rings or loops of DNA called plasmids. I am not trying to offend or disapprove you excellent videos: Plasmids contain genes for things like drug resistance that can be passed between bacterial via pili. Pili-allow cell contact Flagella- Long hair-like structure that rotates to move the bacterial cell.

Awesome! Don't forget that gram negative bacteria also have a perisplasmic space in between the peptidoglycan layer and the cell membrane.
@nissimbaraness35915 жыл бұрын
thanks for making this video! it does summerize most of the materials. However, I do have to mention that when you illustrated the structure of the gram negative/positive, there were a few misplaced componenets. Ex: in the gram negative, the lipoprotein is conventaly bound to the outer membrane on one end, while the other end is embedded into the peptidoglycan layer via its polar head. Another thing: the lipopolysaccharides are the ones containing lipid A, O, and core polysaccharide. Last but not least, you forgot to mention "porins" in the gram negative structure which act as channels that transport substances in and out of the membrane.

This video is wonderful and encompasses everything very effectively. However, at 0:28 there is a false statement. Bacteria are the largest prokaryotes only, and there are other microorganisms of medical significance, such as fungi and protozoa, that are larger in size as they are eukaryotes.

2:40 wait; Transferring DNA is how more complex, multicellular organisms reproduce. Such as plants and animals. That really shows how more complex, evolved life forms develop their characteristics from aspects of simpler, more basic organisms. Can two bacteria who do this recombine into a new species?
