I started finasteride when I noticed thinning on the crown. I was able to stabilize loss and gain enough coverage to get by without really noticing the thin area after combing the hair and growing out the surrounding healthy areas. My question, the thin area has numerous micronized hairs that do not get much longer than an inch. Do you think micro needling could reverse the micronized hairs in this area? I've been on finasteride for about 2 years.

I had this same problem. I found, the hair only grew so much. I was using the roller, taking the pills, applying the foam and using the caffeine shampoo. After a year, I knew that was as much as I was going to get--and it really was not enough. So I got the transplant. It will take about a year to reallly see how good it was.

It seems that since alopecia and hairloss has been studied for several decades now , that the causes are reasonably well understood, eg in males, the action of the 5 alpha reductase 2 enzyme on testosterone, conversion to DHT etc. So in my opinion the focus seems to be on prevention of loss. I have often heard mature gents commenting (almost comically) that as their hair is falling out of the scalp, it appears to be growing thicker on the ears , eyebrows and noses ! Frustrating I'm sure. So it set me thinking that an avenue of research could be to understand what mechanism is stimulating the sprouting of thicker hair where previously none existed, ( or at least was thinner) if this stimulus is understood, could it not result in a treatment that harnesses this process to redirect it onto follicles that are thinning ? Just a thought and possibly this is already being explored by medical researchers ? Would welcome your comments and thoughts on that.

Considering your advice around how microneedling can cause micro-scarring, does this mean microneedling could negatively impact the potential results that someone could achieve from a transplant further down the line due to damage to the scalp? Or can the surgeon generally work around that pretty easily?
@HairPelet17 күн бұрын
I was about to make the same question! In Spain, Dr. Oscar Muñoz says microneedling can cause microscaring and make more difficult a transplant to work in the area treated. Do you think that 0,5 mm (wihch I read is enough to start having benefits from microneediling based on studies) on a weekly basis can cause scaring?. Pelase answer us! 🙏🏻 And a million thanks for your channel wich is amazingly helpfull to al of us.

So do i use microneedling immediately before applying a minoxadil spray once a week (needling that is once a week. Daily for the spray) Whats the recommended procedure?
@thomastoikka832218 күн бұрын
From what I’ve read, you shouldn’t apply minoxidil topically on the day that you microneedle, atleast not after you’ve done the microneedling.

I've done microneedling once a week for more than a year with minoxidil. It did absolutely nothing.
@user-el8fj5lu7d3 күн бұрын
Once a week is not recommended. Micro needling works by damaging the skin and inducing repair. If you do it once a week you're not giving the body enough time to regenerate. Once every two weeks at minimum. Also needle size matters. If you're using the easily bought 0.5mm it's a waste of time. You need to work up to 1.5mm to stimulate more deeply.

There is no hair loss cure. These are all remedies for regrowth and halt. Microneedling once a week is fine, if you want to quit needling then do once every 2 weeks, then once a month then stop and add another remedy as replacement.

Try between 0.5-0.8mm on weekly basis equally effective as 1.5mm and less damaging.
