Richard, I wanted to tell you thank you for explaining access in great detail. I am an Operations manager for a medium sized manufacturing company and use an ERP system daily. I never had the opportunity to learn and operate access. Even back in college the time spent in access was very brief and generic. You have a unique and extremely detailed teaching method, and for that I am thankful. I look forward to taking the second series of your access teaching. Thanks, Shawn Steele

Excellent tutorials. Have a question about the customer data base, what would the table steps look like if there are multiple contacts "customer names and info" were needed per client i.e. company XYZ has 3 or more contacts or customers? Does your customer lesson here become a table within a table?

I have a question. But first I will like to thank you for your dedication and for your simplicity on explaining everything so clearly. My question is, for instance, if I type names in Spanish such as for example my name: Jannie and last name: Guzmán, should I avoid the Spanish punctuation in the "á" of my last name and leave it simply as Guzman. I just want to know which way is better. Thanks!!
@599CD
@599CD 2 жыл бұрын
Personally, I prefer just using standard ASCII characters, so yes, I would avoid the á, but that's just my opinion. It's better for sorting and searching later on.

Is creating data in Access better than in Excel? I have a huge list of data in Excel and I'd like to move them to access, is there a short-cut way to do it rather than copying and pasting each information? How do I move everything from Excel to Access?

I'm loving this series - thank you! However, i'm having trouble copying and pasting the info from 599CD.com - when i go to paste it into my datasheet I get an error message: 'The value you entered isn't valid for this field' - I can't see a way around this. I'm happy to type in all the info, but concerned this maybe an issue for future projects. I'm running Access 2016.

im with Victoria. the info goes to paste errors table. in which your info has been copied and pasted. But doesent fit in my table which is missing some of your fields. i.e country,company,and the true/false field. Does the amount of fields have to be exact?
@amightyo
@amightyo 9 жыл бұрын
RONALD PEARSON I know this is an old question but since I started today, I thought I give an answer. Yes, the number of fields have to be exact and they should be in the same order. Cheers!

Hi i followed your instructions for the copy and paste using my Excel data. but i got a message to say ''The value you entered isn't valid for this field'' I have Access 2016. It turns out that even though the first field is AutoNumber I still have to provide a spaceholder. So for table ID, Name pasted data has to be of a form [TAB]Smith [TAB]Johnson and so on. in your video it is actually 0[TAB]Richard... 0[TAB]Joe... 0[TAB]Suzan... I strongly recommend that you include some comment in your video - it took me good 20 frustrating minutes to figure it out (and I am quite experienced in SQL and Excel already)...
