Microwave Burgers: The Easy and the Vegetarian

Time to finish off the recent microwave burgers thing we've had going on!
There are as yet two unexplored avenues: The super-easy snacks where you just put the entire box in the microwave, and the plant-based vegetarian (and in some cases vegan) burgers. The results of these taste tests may SHOCK and ASTOUND you, causing you to INEXPLICABLY CAPITALISE words in KZbin descriptions!
Anyway, that's enough microwaveable fast food stuff for a while. (Unless a whole new range appears or something.)

Use by dates for the burgers... Dec 16 - 22325/5 12:04 - Sausage Muffin - 325th Day of 2022 is Nov 21 - Dec 16th is 350th day - 350 minus 325 = 25 days Dec 12 - 22321/5 11:23 - Peri Peri Chicken - 321st Day of 2022 is Nov 17 - Dec 12th is 346th day - 346 minus 321 = 25 days Dec 05 - 22314/1 10:36 - Meatless Maverick - 314th Day of 2022 is Nov 10th - Dec 5th is 339th day - 339 minus 314 = 25 days Dec 11 - 22320/4 20:16 - Chick'Un Filet - 320th Day of 2022 is Nov 16 - Dec 11th is 345th day - 345 minus 320 = 25 days These are all best by the 25th day, however each sandwich was made in different weeks... based on my guessing the pattern.

@@alkestos He mentioned how the best by dates were different when checking out the Peri Peri chicken... I recognized a pattern and given that the pattern seems to decode to the manufacture date with each best by date being 25 days after that manufacture date, I think it's correct.
@james0000
@james0000 Жыл бұрын
@@alkestos Example: '22341/1 12:00' is likely Manufactured on 2022 on the 341st day (the 22341 part). That's Dec 7th, 2022. Adding 25 days would give you a best by date of Jan 1st, 2023. I suspect the '/1' portion would be the line number or machine number or such... and the '12:00' portion is the exact time of day the item was stamped. If there was some malfunction and foreign material made it into the sandwiches, the manufacturer could recall them by telling people/stores to not consume items with a best buy date of Jan 1st 2023 that also had a '22341/1' stamped on them... if the line/equipment in question was the /1 stuff.

In the Netherlands, we can get steamed buns in plastic bags that you put in the microwave, like the first two burgers. We never look at the cooking instructions for them, just heat them in the microwave until they pop, and then wait 5 minutes until they no longer burn your fingers/mouth. They're called bapao here, and are a steamed bun with usually a meat and veggie filling (chicken, beef, etc.). They even started selling filled pita versions of them (jalapeno cheese is gooooood). I lived in the UK for a couple of years but somehow failed to notice that they weren't available or even the 'put in plastic bag in microwave until pop' type of food.

The reason that plant-based burger’s date was shortest is generally down to them not being popular in the area. Reminds me of that picture of vegan food in a grocery store going unsold despite Hurricane Harvey causing people to buy the place out.

The batch code printed on on the Meatless Maverick burger says it was produced/packed on Julian date 314. Which would be the fifth of November. So it had a shelf life of 25 days from date of manufacture.

I agree, I like the vegan "chicken" patties but the burgers are pretty bad by comparison to real meat. I also generally purchase the meatless chicken patties and tenders regularly now that I think about it.

Given how well those things held their heat, I'm starting to wonder if it might actually be more economical to buy a bunch of those microwave burgers and use THEM as ways of heating your house.

Ashens is just what I need for Christmas! He's one of the first channels I ever subscribed in like 2009-ish so I get a sort of nostalgic feeling watching even new videos since nothing has changed except quality of the camera/audio/lighting. Same brown, tattered sofa. Same wonderful, dry humor. Same two hands floating in front of a camera. Same cheap food, toys, electronics, Poundland. Still my favorite channel on KZbin and I'd still say if I could only watch/rewatch one channel, it'd be this one.
