Brother I’m a retired NYPD officer. When the PBA negotiatesa contract it’s for EVERYBODY. Not just the top officers with experience. The bullshit at the NALC needs to stop.

So were you able to convert before the whole CCA fiasco?
@jamesnickelson8482Ай бұрын
An injury to one is an injury to all. Going on 20 years as a carrier, management is throwing a bone to the ones at the bottom of the pay scale as well as those of us at the top to try and get those of us at the top and bottom to vote for this crappy contract! Everyone should see through this garbage of a contract and vote no!
@Sparex2Ай бұрын
Yup, voting no. Worked my butt off for the last 5 years, 2 as a CCA, and 3 as a regular just to be the baseline for carriers. Worked 12 hours damn near every day for 6 days a week, missed countless holidays and birthdays just to ensure my family can have a decent life. A real slap in the face for many carriers in my situation.
@JaYyJefe556Ай бұрын
Likewise and don’t forget working as a CCA through covid some days I had a half of a route as a handoff plus my own route
@TheRjmayerАй бұрын
Same worked the early days of Covid as a CCA 7 days a week 12 hours a day nearly every day. Then got converted and got down to only 6 days a week. Caught Covid in Jan 2020 double pneumonia for 5 months and no covid policy in place so I had to work with double pneumonia outdoors in the winter.

I don’t know too many carriers who don’t feel they’ve been screwed at some point. I was used and abused 5 years as PTF. Been excessed twice. 17 years of 💩 walking routes. Resentment is real, but I’ve given up on the PO making amends with me. That said, we need to look forward and in doing so; this contract sucks. Everyone deserves better.

Couldn't agree more Unconscious. I started in November 2014 as a CCA and I paid my dues and President Renfroe decided it was fair to keep me at 13.3 years to top step while letting junior carriers now reach it in 11.5 years. That's a poison pill provision for me.
@F5MinuteRantАй бұрын
And this is a reason why a lot of CCA’s are being encouraged to vote YES…
@MattWassenaar-o4oАй бұрын
NALC should have fought to get rid of CCAs and go to all PTF work force. I was a PTF for almost 3 years and it was a tough go but it’s career status. Negotiate a longer probationary period, say 4 months, but this crap has to stop. The low wage high turnover is killing us

Table 2 to table 1 is the fix or shorten it to 22 week with retroactive career service credit. We can fight for more next contract. 1.3 percent raise except top end to 92k to meet inflation. Plus Cca 1 year.
@Trentbail23Ай бұрын
It’s not fair that brand new carriers are basically catching up to me. I’m step d and put all that time in. 3 years as cca. They will basically be skipping all the time I put in.

They don’t tell everyone there are two tables. I talked all the time as a CCA that I couldn’t wait to go regular and make $60k. Not one person for over two years told me I was gonna make $16k less. The only thing they taught in training was to be scared of dogs. That’s it.
@unconscious_ThoughtsАй бұрын
@n3rfth1s58 the two tables shouldn’t even be shown because even the table one guys didn’t start at 60k. That 60k you see is because top pay went up so the rest of the table one chart gets updated each time there is an increase in top pay. The last people to start in that pay scale was in 2011-2012. But ultimately my point is we accepted the job as a CCA with a starting pay of $19.33 or less depending when you started . So we knew what we were getting paid . The rewards of this career come slowly each year and eventually by the time you make top pay bottom pay will be so much different then when you started. So the new employee ten years from now will be like oh you guys started at 60k that’s what I want . In reality we started at $19.33
@Bearzo23Ай бұрын
Raises across the board and shorter time to the top.
@TBearandCardinalАй бұрын
So here’s the problem: table 1 top rate carriers will vote yes for the back pay and full colas. New employees will vote yes to skip the line from A to C. So where does that leave the middle? Should we all just drop out of the NALC? Maybe we should. Our union sucks. Tell me one good thing they do for us. I can’t think of anything anymore.

Could you please bring up how supervisors are putting carriers on “Deems it desirable” For example if you’re off Monday and call off Saturday they put you down deems it desirable” literally on Friday. Idk if your office is doing that as well but they started to do that in my branch.
@JuanMunoz-hx1xpАй бұрын
Carriers that called in followed instructions and got documentation. We filed grievances. Step B ruled they were in violation. Copay and mileage or any expense incurred getting that documentation was reimbursed.

Voting no isn't a sacrifice for a new carrier. They could remove the 3 steps that are down 1 step from the top and move everyone up. Cola's are pro-rated so lower step carriers don't get a full cola and they get screwed going to arbitration doesn't mean you don't get anything in this contract we could get everything and this contract and more or a mix
