My girlfriends parents swore up and down I was selling drugs. I'm 37 today and have never been back to my parents house. Worked with the homeless for 14+yrs, and please believe many have this attitude of no accountability. EVERYTHING is EVERYONE elses fault in their lives. Many if not most simply refuse to acknowledge their part in ANYTHING they've done wrong... Between homelessness and going to jail, not being able to be objective about ones life has NO HAPPY ENDING!!
@whitway126 ай бұрын
You’re a saint for doing that work - and I would concur - there is obviously context and complexity as with every situation, and I’m sure a range of individuals with different objectives or issues, those with severe mental health issues, those that simply fell on hard times and who are willing to help themselves by cooperating with resources, but as you said, there are also those who blame the world and have zero concept of personal responsibility, who thrive in their perceived victimhood and that attitude is typically accompanied by anti social behaviour and disdain towards others, even if those people are trying to help. You see it a lot when defendants are put on probation, they are handed every resource they could need on a silver platter to help them improve their lives, and many of them just can’t be bothered, coming up with multiple excuses as to why. It’s a spectrum, there are good and bad people in the world, regardless of their situation, and I’m sure you helped as many people as you could while you did that work!
@lornaginetteharrison71686 ай бұрын
Unfortunately just as much as the homeless people may not always have insight into their predicament, many people who work with them become rather judgmental and suffer from empathy burnout, making them unable to help them effectively. When you blame everyone you’re supposed to be helping for them being homeless, and your attitude towards them is that it’s all their fault, it’s probably time to leave the job to people who are still capable of compassion.
@ct56256 ай бұрын
1. I don't believe you've worked with the homeless at all, let alone 14+ years. 2. If you did, you were not capable of it because you clearly have no empathy, no ability to view people as individuals, and no understanding of the psychological and social issues that often lead to homelessness.

I only know from watching COPS on tv, I’ve never been in law enforcement before, but I don’t remember perps in the 80’s and 90’s behaving like these folks today. They *feel* entitled to talk to cops like dogs; entitled to have their phone 24/7 (tbf, I know they weren’t around then), it’s just their whole entitled attitude. Then, after insulting, resisting, and cursing officers with the most vile stuff, they’ll ask why the cop is gonna tow their vehicle, for example. Just shameful behavior that they seem completely oblivious to. Most of all, I don’t remember so many having meltdowns after getting cuffed. I hate to be cliche, but they *_acted like adults_* I just think we have a real problem on our hands. I don’t mean any race or gender. I mean a too-large segment of entire generations that don’t have the coping skills for life. I don’t want to hear about your deadbeat uncle of 60 who is also a loser. There just isn’t a comparison to what we are seeing in these police videos. Heck, even ten years ago it wasn’t *_half_* this bad. But I’d love to hear what any experienced LEOs say? Is it just more access to more videos that is giving this kind of perspective?

In case you're wondering, 13:31 is what a genuinely kind human looks like. She thought about it for a bit but decided not to punish him. To be truly KIND, you need to be self-motivated. If you are kind up until it comes to a situation like this where you could punish a person who inconvenienced or insulted you, you are only NICE rather than kind. Kindness is a genuine personality trait and nice people can never keep up the act when it comes down to the wire in a moment like this.

Also, unlike the suspect who is following zero rules or laws, the cops aren’t allowed to hurt the suspect. That’s why it’s so stupid when a woman does “tHiS mAnY cOpS fOr oNe LiTtLe GiRl?!?” Yeah. To ensure you don’t hurt yourself resisting. If they were allowed to hurt you no holds barred you would only need an 11 year old boy to get a woman into handcuffs lol.
