I definitely would avoid painting the table black. Personally I would go for a slight tinted varnish to keep the wood looking beautiful and interesting. Black is far too easy and looks terrible after lots of dings, knocks and gouges. Clear varnish works well to also protect the surface. Well done on the new studio.

I agree, black doesn't look good unless it is done very fine and sleek, so imo it doesn't fit with the rugged design of the table. And like you said, every bump and scratch is going to show on a black finish so it doesn't quite suite for furniture that's meant to be used.

I've always loved this terminator design, it rides the line between goofy and cool so well, and feels the closest to how these suits are described in the novels: hulking, slow, heavily armored, almost like walking tanks that can shrug off all but the heaviest weapons without stopping. Thanks for shouting out another great looking 3rd party model line!

Those are some nice looking Imperial Fists! I really like the look of the Tortuga Bay termintors but giving them regular Terminator heads gives them a whole new and equally cool look! I've used Micro Sol and Micro Set for a while, it's something I picked up from the scale modelling community. In my experience you often don't even need to fiddle with the decal after applying Micro Sol, it does its thing and gets the decal conforming to the surface on its own. I have some home printed decals for a homebrew chapter of space marines and the decals are a bit on the inflexible side. Micro Sol and Micro Set have been invaluable in getting their decals onto my models.

Please do keep making the same kind of content. Sadly some of the youtubers i watch (not just hobby ones either) get a fancy new workspace and suddenly.. it's like the new space changes their perspective and they go all 'content creation professional' and their content starts to change slowly but surely until suddenly, it becomes hard for the average home hobbyist to relate to the person with a fully decked out studio, dedicated game space, rare or difficult to obtain models a handful of sponsor provided 3D printers and more time to throw at the hobby than most of us could ever dream of having. What i guess I'm saying is - please don't let the space subtly dictate your content - keep being the guy in a spare room, stealing away a few hours from daily life to pursue a hobby in his spare time, talking to other guys and gals doing the same thing Unfounded panic out of the way - woohoo! congratulations! love the new space, well done!

Congratulations on the new studio space! It's been amazing to see the growth of the chanel. Well deserved! As a part time furniture-maker myself I'd probably suggest a Danish Oil finish for the table. It's VOC-free which is ideal for an enclosed space like that with limited air flow. Last thing you want are harmful fumes hanging around... And it'll keep the natural wood look whilst adding a little more protection over a simple oil or stain. It's also pretty cheap and extremely easy to apply!

I have IF as my main army, and your making me incredibly envious of that yellow. I use an overbrush Filthy Brown (Averland Sunset), Filthy Brown + Deep Yellow 1:2, and finally a last overbrush of exclusively Deep Yellow on the raised area. Seems to work great, and it comes out with the slightly more orange-y look of current GW models. Love the use of weathering, all IF should look like they've singlehandly marched through a battlefield whilst the enemy chucked literally everything at them. And they're still coming :)

Table, IMHO paint it white and when somebody comes over to do a game have them sign and date it in black sharpie gives you a history!! I think Simon needs to come back and help you with the 1 thing a studio should have for a painting studio. . a spray booth setup permanently for you to spray inside. I have seen a few videos of people doing DIY or purchased. turn it into a video I know you are a paint channel but seeing this kind of DIY is helpful and I think a spray booth would be an ideal addition if you have space. Thank goodness. Someone else who uses the correct name for Dr. Robotnik. Also, I build and refurbish a fair bit of pine furniture - my favourite finish is "Antique Pine" Briwax. It's cheap (about a tenner a can, which would be plenty), easy to apply (rub it into the grain with some steel wool, go have your lunch, then come back and buff it with a clean cloth until the sheen is to your taste), and it looks a lot classier than paint.
