I like your choice of red/orange for the beast men garb. Not only does it tie the beast men with their allegiance to their heretical masters (who have eye catching red highlights), but links nicely to the narrative of 40k. Chances are these Beastmen would have been prisoners or a labouring underclass before their “liberation”. Please keep these videos coming. Simple, great work once again.

As someone who has been looking for a tutorial for my AoS Beasts of Chaos army..... turns out a 40k one will do just fine. And that yours ends up looking almost the same as my test model (I went with Caucasian skin both as a bit of variation but also as I'm using them in DnD to effectively replace Orcs as the 'savage raider' race now that the Orcs in Forgotten Realms at least have a Kingdom and are stopping the raiding.... at least the ones that have permanent land*.) *The story of the Orcs in forgotten realms is fascinating. Also fascinating is that Elves arrived AFTER orcs who arrived after humans and there was caveman vs orc fights in earlier ages as well. Of course the Orcs were screwed over, specifically kept from having a homeland so that Gruumsh would be denied followers as he was already the second most powerful god (one of two Gods in FR cannon to have killed another God, with the other being AO).

Another great video :) You might want to experiment with a smaller aperture setting on your camera, if you've got the light, so that your field of focus becomes less shallow. Thereby rendering more of the model in focus. Just a thought, the footage looks good otherwise.
@MidwinterMinis5 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yeah, it's a delicate balance, it ends up being a trade-off between noise from the raised ISO if I tighten the aperture. It's probably cheaper to buy some more lights than to get a new camera, haha.
@5chr4pn3ll5 жыл бұрын
@@MidwinterMinis Ye, lighting is basically 70% of a good end product anyway. Makes a lot of difference. I remember getting a cheap LED construction light that I diffracted through a white nylon shower curtain cloth, to soften the light. Worked surprisingly well as fill, bouncing off ceilings or direct on lol If it works it works. But I also know how frustrating it can be to hunt focus with 1.8 aperture when doing close ups. As you say it is a trade off.

Love the videos - keep up the good work! The brown you use in the video has very rich, red, clay look to it, whereas the the suggested brown paint from the Citadel range is XV-88, which is quite a pale brown. Any reason you've suggested XV-88 and not, say, Mournfang Brown, or Doombull brown, which are a bit darker?

Hey Ben, it's really just a case of only using a limited palette for these videos. Just 14 paints in total, so no room for any variations of brown... just... brown ;)
