@@flex2timez The team has been nonrelevant since 2010. 3 playoff wins in what is now 13 seasons, that is a prime example of Tomlin's "standard". They have never replaced Casey Hampton and outside of the Munchak-coached O-Line era, they have suffered on the O-Line since 2009. Also, if you want further evidence, I always judge coaches off of their playoff record and their coaching tree, look at how many of his coordinators were even hired as head coaches in the league. When people ask me if Cowher was a great coach, I have to say yeah. 6 AFC Championship appearances in 13 seasons. He took a struggling organization and made it very relevant. Did he have trouble winning the big games? Yes, he did, but he eventually got there and did it. Tomlin was very wise to not do too much when he first arrived and he took a stacked team, and let the great coordinators and players run the team. Now that everyone from the Cowher era is gone, we are left with Tomlin's imprint fully on the team. The team has been nonrelevant since 2010. 3 playoff wins in what is now 13 seasons, that is a prime example of Tomlin's "standard". Cowher is a great coach. The only coach who took a QB and made him Slash.. Kordell lost to Elway who went to win back to back SB. And Kordell lost to the beginning of the one of the greatest Dynasty in the NFL. No blame there but Kordell could have slipped in and won a SB. Cowher didn't lose to the Cowboys. @Brian-gw6di
@Brian-gw6di 8 ай бұрын
Terry is 100% correct! Mike Tomlin is far from being a great head coach. He is the most overrated head coach of all time. A great coach doesn't win playoff games in only 4 years out of 16 years as being coach and this is year 17 so this stat is only going to get worse. A great head coach doesn't allow his teams to lose to quarterbacks like Blake Bortles, Tim Tebow and Baker Mayfield in his first playoff game plus the Browns didn't even have their head coach for that game. A great head coach doesn't allow his team to go 11-0 then lose 4 or 5 of their final 5 or 6 games can't remember if it was a 16 or 17 game season then get blown out in the playoffs. How many more times are we going to watch this team go 9-8 and maybe make the playoffs then get blown out and give up another 40 points. I'm tired of seeing the same old crap year after year. This team hasn't been able to score points now for four years. Tomlin needs to go he has the most undisciplined teams as well . The players don't even try anymore Johnson , Pickens two of the most overrated players on the Steelers trade both of them get their sorry asses off this team now. A great head coach wouldn't allow his players to stand around and not even block or do a god damn thing on the field these guys need to be benched. Trade or fire Tomlin this off season and trade Johnson and Pickens time to rebuild this offense.

As sad as it is to say, Terry is right. Lol. Tomlin inherited a tough team and now they've become (as a whole) SOFT! We're finally going to see Mason who is someone that could've helped our team as a starter last season (2022) and long before we buried ourselves this year...because even though we were winning this year, the defense and the special teams played huge rolls in those wins. We still had the problems with Kenny & Mitch. Though I think Omar Khan has done an awesome job acquiring players, I still think they should have hired from outside the organization. I think Louis Riddick would have been an excellent choice. Perhaps you bring in an OC and give him full decision-making with regards to offensive personnel. The offense is not a business Tomlin should be involved in...focus on getting that defense tougher and find a creative and tough OC to PARTNER with.

The team is not soft. He inherited a good team but on its last legs there's a reason why the team finished 6 n 10 in cowhers last year ..Tomlin rejuvenated the team ...got them to believe again.

@@PurpleImpactStrategies This is why change is good sometimes. When I coach departs, players tighten up until they get a feel for the new coach. Players will then start to recognize what is allowed and what is not. Hence, many of the players deviated with Tomlin. For example, players coming up positive for illegal substances and players facetiming in the locker room during the coaches speech. Just out-of-control at times. Yes these guys are adults, but some of them STILL require guidance and they ALL must adhere to the STANDARD or face consequences.

I would have sent Tomlin's buttt down the road years ago. I am 70 so I remember when the steelers were a feared team, and the teams that the Steelers played came away with many injuries. They kicked ass. So tired of being an also ran. And waiting for next year. He should have left with Canada.

If you can find 2-3 guys that make the roster every draft including Free agents..you have drafted well. Only in Pittsburgh do fans think every pick should be an all pro.Jarvis Jones was the only bad first round draft pick from a historically bad draft class. But what do you expect I guess. Fans cried when the team drafted Troy P instead of Larry Johnson and nearly shut down twitter for drafting TJ Watt..because he is JJ Watts brother lol. The past ten seasons the Steelers drafted Bell, Bryant, Watt, V Williams, DuPree, Shazier, Muth, Pickens, DJ, Harris, Ju Ju. Six of them made the pro bowl. That’s damn good picking 20 or lower almost every year. Did they miss on some guys ..absolutely. All teams do. Should have taken Jessie Bates over Edmonds. Bush was a rookie of the year candidate but hurt his knee and lost it mentally but still a miss. Should have drafted Humphries. But hindsight is 20/20.

The NFL, basically said to the Rooney's, since you put an affirmative action to interview and hire Black coach's. Tomlin has been propped up and given leeway. He shouldn't have been hired as A head coach. He doesn't know how to make the necessary adjustments during the game. Unimaginative as has to discipline in player's attitudes.

The problem that I see is that Tomlin is a friend to the players. I can't say what takes place behind the scenes - only what I see on TV. He needs to be the coach. He needs to set the tone that he's in charge. That means no high fives, no chest bumps and no celebrations. I know it's a different era, but you never saw that with Chuck Noll. He had expectations that he wanted his players to meet.

Everything has a expiration date and Tomlin is past due. If Dan Rooney could approach Noll and tell hi. It is best to part ways to the coach who changed the whole course if his franchise history and NFL history 1st HC to win 4 SBs and turn the franchise onto a respectable franchise and a winning franchise then Tomlin definitely can be ready to part ways. It is best for both parties and I think the Steelers should trade him after this season. Who knows maybe that conversation has already happened because 2 thing is for sure the coaching that has gone on this season is completely embarrassing. Definitely wasn't coaching to win anything.

Some coaches get too much credit, some not enough, some get fired 12 games into season 1 and some make it 15 years because of 1 good season. I have my thoughts but they don’t matter. The Steelers are like the Packers, they have tradition and they don’t make irrationally quick decisions, they have a fanbase that will support them no matter what and are maybe a little too tolerant of mediocrity. Tomlin has never had a losing season and that means something, but 9-8 isn’t great. I think Tomlin has lost his voice because his message never changes. It’s time to bring fresh air into the organization.
